just a little thing that I like, finally someone who actually bothers to edit in a replacement line for something that's incorrect ( 10:10 ) instead of just leaving the old audio in for everyone to hear the completely wrong figure and then expecting a single line of text correction to do the trick like everyone's gonna be looking at the screen and reading, they replace the audio with the correct figure albeit using a meme voice (much better than the alternative as I said before though)

A little bit of teleprompter magic at play. :D It's a thing that has a two-way mirror splitter, so you can put an "upside-down" touch-pad below the camera, and Linus can read text off of the reflected image, while the camera behind it gets a really decent picture of him looking directly at it.

You still work?

The hot-swap fan array is an excellent idea for a data center. If a fan goes out, replace the whole array and get the server back up. No deducing which fan went out. Replace the bad fan from the array when the servers are live, ready to go as inventory for the next fan failure.

I was working at Intel when their first SSDs came out. (The X-25M and X-25E.) I had an ultra-fancy massive 4U server on my workbench, and got a bunch of the then-blazingly-fast X-25E SSDs, which weren't even out publicly yet, to test. My 4U server had 1 TB of RAM (which cost over USD $1 Million, for which Crucial threw in a 32 GB USB 3.0 thumbdrive to the order - thanks Crucial!) and I put in 16 32 GB X-25Es. That's right, this system had less storage than RAM. I remember seeing very early reviews of the first "actually fast" SSDs and thinking "no, they can't be that fast!" So in my test, I made two RAID-0s (because each RAID controller only had 8 ports.) I copied some big .ISO test file we had from an internal file server - 2-3 GB of whatever (probably a hard drive image from our OS image farm.) I then dragged it from one RAID to the other. "Huh. I must have missed Drive E." Dragged it again. "Would you like to overwrite?" Yup, so fast the copy dialog box hadn't even shown up. I can't imagine doing that with 100 GB.

That was dope! I actually liked the more "interactive" sponsor spot, showing off the Pulseway App. If my dream of entering the IT field ever comes to fruition, I'll need Pulseway to make me more productive and efficient.

I never get tired of these ridiculous server upgrades!

I love the fact that the fan component tray at 250W is lower than the power usage of the entire IBM x3650M4 as my ESXi host in the homelab with 12x SAS drives (never mind the Isilon X200 with fan mods for FreeNAS) with a separate 12-bay tray. It’s certainly a hella lot quieter. Ever thought about a channel (or just separate episodes) for homelab enthusiasts? Maybe Anthony wouldn’t mind hosting it.

Maybe, but I don't think Linus is allowed to keep that server. A lot of the stuff sent to him is so he can try it out on camera to get a review then gets sent back. But there's a lot of stuff he does that is flexing. ;) Like wiring up cameras for the gym his kid goes to for sports.
