THIS IS REAL BERLIN (48h in Germany's capital)

Berlin, the capital of Germany. However, Berlin is not real Germany... at least that's what people say. But what is it?
I was invited for the weekend by my good friend who was about to show me the real Berlin, the beautiful sides... and the ugly ones.
Seeing drugs on the street, visiting a Muslim mosque, eating Döner Kebab... Berlin has it all.

I have only been to Berlin once but I fuckin loved it there. I would go back again in a heart beat if I could afford the flight. And ashamed of being German? Fuck man, you should be proud. It is a great country with great people. Every county in the world has its pluses and minuses.

Born and raised in Germany, I am now living in the US. I've been to Berlin, I've been to Cologne, I was at home in the Heidelberg region, so Frankfurt is still familiar to me. The video is great in itself, and I will follow Flo's travels... but to emphasize so much on how dirty Berlin is, comes out of line. Cologne & Frankfurt have their dirty sides with hookers, drugs and filthy parts of the city. Yes, I agree that this isn't good, but it doesn't define a city!! Berlin has its very own flair, and as stated in the video it is very open to a wide range of people. This diversity, in my opinion, should rather be embraced than criticized. Flo, I invite you to visit cities like New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles to draw a comparison. All huge cities with their own flair... and all cities where you find the exact same thing as in Berlin. But above all, I definitely do like and enjoy your enthusiasm... pfundig, weiter so!!!

"I was never really proud to be German" this shouldn't be your attitude towards your nationality. i get that german history is not something to be proud of but that doesn't mean being german and spreading german culture labels you as nazi or sth. Many people WOULD LOVE to live in Germany, to have German citizenship to have German education and to glorify the fact they're from Germany (even as a foreigner). Being German is a huge privilege which would make me personally overjoyed and proud.

Most people in germany, and especially in Berlin, feel like that. It's more or less common sense these days and if you disagree you are suspicious of being a nationalist or worse. A lot of people feel that your birthplace is totally random and for this reason there is no point to identfy with it. You can spot this behaviour even in politicans and the parties (our new Vice Chancellor once said he never identified with germany and it's culture and thinks it's stupid to do so). If you ask them if they feel as germans they will probaly say: "No I don't identify myself as a german, more as a european." Or they tell you that they are just humans and that we are all the same.

The city is changing though. Tech companies are moving in, gentrification is increasing, the BBA Flughafen is opening, rents are going up and the edgy arts scene is being slowly pushed out. The more the city sanitises to get rid of what some deem as ugly, the more it resembles any city in a developed nation. Some will celebrate this but at the same time so much is being lost.

I am Berliner from a mixed family and I went to Munchen once , is ok, but not for me so I prefered to go back to the east, didn't like it, too much order and people is not that friendly with Berliners or east germans. I can say that my city is not the most beautiful one in the country, that is dirty, chaotic a total mess I would say...but this is the way we like it! I also think that we have much open minds than the west, Berlin is unique, especial, we are more chill, of course you can find some idi.ot.s around like in every city, but those are the few ones...We are hardcores AF and Berliners first!

It´s like with the homeless peoples in Berlin, East Europeans or Southerners Criminalize homelessness while at the same time pointing the finger on Berlin who takes care of their citizen. "who is without a sin, should throw the first stone". Greets from Berlin
