As a unbiased fan of the game I've always appreciated good players and good baseball. Vlad is one of the best players in the MLB. In my opinion he should play his entire career with TOR. Hopefully he stays healthy and has a HOF career 👍.

He's a great player, no doubt. But I just did a quick glance at the MLB site comparing stats between Guerrero and Ohtani. They're almost identical in all the key categories, with Ohtani superior in some and having stolen 8 bases to none by Guerrero and 15 doubles to VG's 10. And this is in a season when Ohtani has not been as spectacular offensively as the first half of last year. Yet, add to that Ohtani's pitching where he's 6-4, had eight shutout innings with 13 SO last week, etc. His overall hitting and pitching is much like the post-AS break last year. So however great Guerrero Jr is, Ohtani remains a superior baseball talent to VG and others because of being so good in both pitching and hitting. Just today, Ohtani has hit two doubles and a HR as his team flames out due to terrible pitching.

it’s kind of wild but through their first 4 seasons their stats are almost identical and Jr. has done it while being a full year younger. Sr = AB 1585 H 498 HR 92 RBI 281 Batting Line .314\.367\.567 OPS+ 140 Jr = AB 1562 H 446 HR 90 RBI 259 Batting Line .286\.367\.515 OPS+ 137 If Jr stays on that trajectory, health permitting, then he’s definitely having a comparable if not better career than his HOF dad. Stats are from Baseball Reference.

The result would more likely have been the same. Houck isn’t holding a 1-run lead against 3 of the top right handed hitters in the game in the bottom of the 9th. A HOLD in the 7th, sure I’d agree. But closing in the 9th is way different.

So what? Again. He's never constant. Of course he generates runs/wins, depending on his mood (?warm-up face-watch). Hype is useless, the others always deliver Without team effort he brings nothing. We could do better without him than without Springer Kirk, Gausman ..... A better bullpen would be needed.

@@mensrea1251 Agree, the difference is how good he is and how good he could be. Unlike others, it's an up and down. Manoah, Springer and others play consistently well. So it's not always fair to hype Vladi, see Jansen's first game. V. ranges from good to great, but not always the most important. Anyone can be game changer.What's wrong with this? Teamsport. I also think that he hasn't reached his peak form yet. Then maybe he'll break the ballpark. Applies to other players as well :-)
