This is one of the best CPUs for the money right now, but...

Ғылым және технология

The release of Intel's latest generation processors means that older, yet still very capable options have dropped in price. One example that really stands out is the i5 12600KF, a 10 core, 16 thread CPU that is ideal for content creators and gamers alike.
That said, it may not be necessary for everyone.
Thanks for watching :)

@@fallnight I have been GPU hopping for the past year. Started with an i5 4'th gen/gtx 1060, landed on my goal of i5 12600k/RX 6800XT about a year later from building and selling budget rigs on mercari (that's why I love these channels so much!) and the 6800XT died and I replaced it with an RX 3080 to mixed satisfaction. pretty disappointed with the RT performance, but I got it for $300 and it's a custom modified card cooled by an aio instead of the heatsink, fans and shroud that it came with. Happy with my Frame rate, upset with the 10GB of VRAM failing me in 4k RDR2 while my RX 6800XT handled it swimmingly. RT performance sucks. Can't get a 60 fps average in Elden at 1080p, let alone 1440p, with RT enabled even if I'm on the low preset for everything else. Will most likely never go NVIDIA again! I also can't see the difference between FSR and DLSS once I get to 1400p/4k. Both of them suck at 1080p anyway, so I can't see a reason to justify spending the premium on an NVIDIA card when AMD just seems to outclass them in every way since RT is just pretty much unusable unless you are on the 40 series anyway.

You can BIOS flash for 14th gen also an option if you want to drop an 13th/14th gen into that board to upgrade. My 12400F is paired with a 3060 12gb. My 12900KF is paired with a 7900XTX, 12700KF with a 7800XT. If you play highly cpu bound games you might notice a difference in upgrading cpus. My 12700KF can't raid and discord without microstuttering when I heal the floor during raid. Your B board does limit the TDP on the CPU, some performance loss if paired with a K chip, not huge. I did test 12700KF with 7900XTX also. I play 1440P but your resolution/use case will also be something to think about. I might pick up a 14700K for one of my rigs to upgrade. Casual gaming I found 12700KF fine really just a shame every time I have to consider upgrading again.

Z790 has better memory support assuming DDR5 speeds, Z690 I patched them for 14th but ending up shuffling around the computer ram kits so each is QVL now, that seems to be good. I've spent more time than I cared to tuning DDR5 on B760M & Z690 boards, I start with 4800 supported speed for 12th gen and try XMP on/tune the memory on each machine, 5600-6000 seems to work most times. Sounds like a solid build. There is more performance in Z board pairing with K chip, not limiting the wattage to the CPU (as a B board does). I've used the 12700KF and 12900KF is my main still (might upgrade a machine to a 14700K). You can always upgrade the GPU later if you feel the need. Pairings I have B760M with 12400F 3060 12gb, 12700KF with 7800XT, 12900KF 7900XTX. Upgrading from a 9600K originally to a 12700K it was noticeable how much more snappy the desktop and game felt, 1440P didn't stutter. Only gripe I have 1440P 12700KF has some raid microstutter that the 12900KF doesn't. But it games fine outside of that highly CPU bound scenario. P cores E cores has been a great experience, I was worried about it coming from the 6 core 9600K with game compatibility and whatnot. I actually found with 12700KF & 12900KF some games I have to cap frames.

Good comparison. I'd buy the 12600K (not the KF variant due to a lack of iGPU) and pair it with a good motherboard. H610 motherboards are like the AMD B series: they won't have the greatest feature set, won't run multiple sticks of RAM at their highest speed available, and in some cases won't even support 4 sticks of RAM at all. I'd also possibly get the i9 version of the stock cooler, on somewhere like eBay, because why not. And besides, the stock i9 cooler (for the 14900 non-K) would be far more suited to cooling this, rather than cooling the i9 it was intended to do. Of course, you could get a Z690 or Z790 board, get this chip, then upgrade to a 14900K or even 14900KS later on down the line.

C states, speedshift, thermal monitor, speedstep and whatever else they've invented? To me, buying a K cpu while leaving all that garbage on defeats the purpose. Unless something has changed since I had a K series cpu (have the 12400f now) then you should be able to get full speeds out of that K cpu with all the power saving garbage off? I ask because I'm not impressed by the performance jump compared to my 12400f and the price difference between these CPUs in the past has easily been $100 or more and that performance difference in gaming was laughable for that price difference.

Dude, before I've seen your video, I came to the very same conclusions. A 5700X + a decent B550 + 32Gb DDR4 ram is still more expensive here (Brazil) than a 12600KF + B660 with the same ram. While the 12600KF delivers more performance than the 5700X, there is room for a future 14th gen upgrade, as the 14700. In reality, the 12600KF is closer to a Ryzen 7600, even with DDR4, while its mobo+ram bundle costs around 200usd less... so, in this scenario, Intel was the best choice for me.
