    I was in the navy and i can tell u that’s a medic bag. He has to carry that with him at all times. That bag has more stuff in it to save a life than what was on that plane i guarantee you.

    We actually have a ton of first aid/safety/security and emergency equipment on board, that unfortunately the crew isn’t allowed to reveal, but trust me, it’s a lot.

    Whenever I fly, my carry-on is my backpack with medical and emergency supplies. (TSA compliant, at least.) Not because of plane crash per se but because travel is travel, you can get stranded or injured and you’re far from home. I would NEVER leave that motherfucker behind unless I had no other choice. Go ahead and chew me out.

    @@eyesaiah8405 First of all, the person bringing the medical pack was bringing necessary supplies. Second, he survived. He wasn’t the one that died, as you can see in the video, he is clearly alive. Third, yes, obviously it was the crew’s fault as they had all necessary tools to maintain their altitude and safely aviate until they are out of the storm, but they didn’t follow their training which lead to a crash landing.

    As someone who studied for a Private Pilots license and flew planes with seasoned cargo pilots it just amazes me how multimillion dollar planes end up short of runway when there are many instruments and systems to tell you altitude. Pilot error 1000%

    When you can't see anything in front of you, you tend to get disoriented. Couple that with poorly trained pilots or pilots who think they know better than their instruments, then you get this. A competent pilot and ALL pilots should know and be proficient in flying with only looking at the instruments.

    @@Blakezilla594 even good pilots need to be able to see through the window not just instruments, you can mis-judge where to land if you cant see the runway, instruments are mainly secondary stuff for flying, when you cant see too well in front of you ,you have no choice but to contact atc tower so they can say where about they are to the runway and then that's where instruments come in as the atc tower will say the altitude etc

    That's why you keep your important items that you can't lose on you or in a bag that's at your feet and on your back in a second so that you don't have to waste anyone's time and you don't lose your life's work that you didn't back up from your laptop like a moron. Unless you got millions in cash or diamonds which would be impossible to bring in a plane let alone move easily, nothing is worth as much as someone else's life. Well millions in diamonds could just fit in your pocket really. But what are you doing in a passenger plane at that point just buy a private jet.

    ​@@spyder027you're correct, but the parent comment is also valid. I'm on heart medication and anti seizure medication and going without them for more than a day or so might kill me. Same for people with blood thinners. I actually keep my medication in a small waterproof case when I travel just in case this exact situation happens, so I don't have to lug an entire bag with me.

    Always check the EU black list before booking a flight on any airline you’re not acquainted with. Even though they may not fly to the EU, the airlines with sketchy maintenance and/or unqualified pilots will be on the list and it behoves everyone to do due diligence for your personal safety.

    The passenger loss of life was due to not wearing seat belt... and his head and face were badly injured, killing him within about 3 minutes.

    There's so many possibilities to blame here. Might be the cabin crew didn't properly checked the passengers prior to landing, or that passengers get used to "Safe Landings" that's why he detached the seatbelts earlier. Anyways, that person is already dead, there's no point to blame him, only cabin crews need to retrain and always double check their passengers' seatbelt.

    The guys who brought his backpack was basically the last to exit the aircraft, which means he wasn’t slowing down the evacuation process. Also the stuff in their could be really meaningful or important to him so don’t see anything wrong with that

    I think you'll get a pass for holding on to them :) I usually keep a few days of my meds in a pouch that I can easily grab if this kinda thing happens. Doubt I'll ever need it for an airplane landing on water, but I feel a lot safer having it.

    As soon as one of the crew doesn’t know where they are. They should immediately discontinue and climb to the minimum safe altitude. I don’t understand how these accidents happen. It’s literally drilled into you when you start IFR training. How can an experienced flight crew fail to conduct a missed approach.

    When I was playing Microsoft flight simulator in VR I came across a really bad storm and I couldn't tell if I was going up or down but then I just had to take a look at my thingy I don't know what it's called forgive me and I could see that I was going down instead of up I too agree how it's kind of hard with a lot of training to not remember these types of things guys lucky he didn't die considering you got full front force into the ocean

    Because think of how fast the plane was going and think of a train they both go pretty fast pretty hard to stop right? Well maybe it’s pretty hard to turn when your going that fast and by the time they found out that they were to low they already touched the water 😒

    @@walkingredflag1 The crew should be monitoring their flight instrumentation though to avoid a deviation off of the approach. The 737 also has GPWS which was active telling them that they were descending off of the approach. I get what you’re saying about descent rate but if that was the case and you were monitoring instruments, an aircraft even of that size is still capable of fast changes in descent rate and could climb out of a dangerous situation (unless of mechanical failure). Unfortunately most of the time it’s human error that causes CFIT (Controlled flight into terrain) or in this case, the ocean.

    @@TheDivineCallingofJesusChrist What you’re describing is a basic skill that every pilot from day one learns and never forgets 👍 If you’re operating in cloud, monitoring of flight instruments and cross checking them against each other is key to maintaining situational awareness. The instruments can be prone to errors due to mechanical or environmental issues such as icing but still. Multiple systems would have to fail at the same time to produce a situation that a well trained pilot couldn’t identify.

    It was already proven before that it wasn't this. The person who had died wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and going from 150 knots to 0 in less than 5 seconds is surely going to cause injury even with a seatbelt.

    @@fadinglight3920 No offense but I can see you’re not an aerospace engineer. Planes are not made hardened to survive crashes. They are designed to fly in the air. Safety equipment had little to do with that plane not coming into pieces. They can count their blessings that the pilots put it down exactly as they did. Else it would have broken up into many pieces. I say this coming with 12 years of engineering education and as a designer of guided missile systems.

    @@unsearchablethings8167 pretty sure planes are designed to be able to survive emergency landings in water. I mean I’m sure it was easily possible for them to approach at a bad angle and completely destroy the plane and many or all passengers, but I wouldn’t say it’s a “miracle”.

    Actually really good tips.. I’ve flown on passenger planes dozens of times, and I never remember the flight attendant mentioning WHEN to inflate it.. I feel like that’s pretty important, and it makes sense to do it outside the plane

    Yeah that looks like one of the rescue team's bags. That's a really common bag in the military, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's from the boarding crew and he realized it would be too cumbersome in the tight spaces of the plane. Though, that advise about leaving your carry on, 100% leave that thing. Its not worth your life, and it's especially not worth the lives of the people behind you.

    3 miles is extremely short. A couple thousand feet is understandable, but THREE MILES?!! How did the aircrew mess up this badly? The sink rate alert makes me think microburst.

    it’s not always the pilots fault. i’m sure there was something wrong with the engine and it was a choice to either land in water or land on the land (not the runway) i would easily choose the water since planes are designed to land in the water in case of emergency

    Couldn’t be bothered to do their job right? There was most likely a problem with the plane probably an engine problem and they had to land the plane in the water, they saved everyone but 1 passenger. And what do you mean “couldn’t be bothered to do their job right” they are on the plane too if they fuck up they die and so does everyone on the plane. Shit isn’t an RC plane the pilots are also on board fearing for their own lives so they did what they thought was best

    @@lordgman1 in carry on? Carry on is where most people keep their wallets, laptop, identification info and medication. Three of those things can be extremely vital. If someone needs to take their carry on, then they need to take their carry on.

    You don’t know what may have been in that guy’s carryon, whenever I travel I carry my medication in a lockbox in my carryon and without it I will be in no condition to travel (and because one of those prescriptions is a controlled substance, it would be extremely valuable to thieves and looters). So even if I’m in an emergency situation, I’m damn sure gonna take my carryon if at all possible, within reason, but at the same time, in this situation, I would just put it on my back and go go go just like I would without it, all my important meds are already in ziplocs when I travel so no need to worry about getting wet.

    Yeah I’d make sure I had my rucksack, I always carry my meds on me and am very reliant on them. I’m on over 30 pills a day, lidocaine patches and inhalers, I literally need my meds. I don’t have a passport so I can’t see this ever happening to me anyway lol

    I have my important medical supply with me that keeps me going so I would do the same and keep in on my back. If anyone gets mad and tries any thing id trip them so fast!!!!

    He can replace his meds, or they can administer them at the hospital after he’s been rescued. But when a plane is burning or sinking, any delay could cause multiple deaths. Would he want that on his conscience? Worse, would he want to be one of the victims who couldn’t get off the plane in time because someone in front of him slowed things down to grab their stuff?

    The plane landed in chuuk waters micronesia me and my cousins rushed out in our motor boats to assist! it was pretty interesting for us because this was the first time my people encountered anyone from that country . It was a pleasure!!
