Yeah ! And heard that devices without a touch screen means a better crisp visibility and less glare

Not true in the case of the hammerhead Karoo 2. Crisp and bright and touchscreen.

Garmin touchscreen displays aren't as bright and crisp, and are more reflective, but the battery life for those devices is significantly more than the bright/crisp/matte Karoo 2.

Thanks for the excellent short take. I still think I'm going to go with the Garmin ecosystem and now just have to decide if I'm going to swoop in on the 530 sale or wait to see what the 540 looks like.

Short or long videos don't really matter because you are fun to watch either way. The short ones may come in handy when someone is video surfing & doesn't want to watch a 20 minute long video at that particular time.

I own this computer, the only thing I really wish it had, was a light network possibility, where you turn the computer on, the lights turn on, i believe Garmin has it, and also, structured workouts require third party integration, which you have to pay, unless you want to plan one each time (training peaks)

Good review and I like the bite sized format. As a newbie bike computer user I loved how intuitive and simple it is to use. Three things that need work (IMHO): 1. I wish it would power up 'on the go' (from a power brick for instance). 2. Using 'Return to Route' can be a bit of a magical mystery tour. 3. I'd like the route colour to be customisable (it's blue and that's the same blue as water so if you're near a river...). 3A I'd like to be able to make it wider too for us visually compromised older riders. EDIT: Ooh.. No.4 - it can and does freeze when charging.

Is a garmin’s extra features useless without a HRM and/or power meter? I have neither and don’t really see myself buying either this year but am looking to buy my first bike computer.

Hello. I keep hearing about how good the battery is. But my Bolt v2 gives me about 4-5h. From 100% charged to 10% in my latest 3.h 58 minutes ride.

Been using it for 1year+ now, the device itself is very nice indeed. Unfortunately, almost all my training routes have trees growing around them. Even those nasty ones with leaves on. And this is where the GPS reception gets strangely bad, even with shitloads of blue sky above. 90% of my Strava segments drop out without a warning or message, which makes for a truly terrible UX. The result is rather bad GPS data, basically the same as created by my old Garmin 520, which never ever dropped out of any segment ever btw.. Support basically says "thats how it is".

I love my Wahoo Bolt V1, and the V2 looks a great cycling computer but I really hate the way it needs to connect to WiFi, especially when you might not have any when away from home, or when your home wi-fi isn't compatible, I was using a hotspot on a phone for a while but it becomes much more work to do this than it really should be. If it would simply do everything via bluetooth like Garmin does, that would solve a lot of problems for me. I found this channel in my quest for a suitable Wahoo replacement.

Short, incisive, articulate review. Question: how is it in bright sunlight? I'm a 70 year-old specs wearer who has to stop in shade to read nav on my phone. If there is shade. Or turn to create some.

It’s very good in bright sunlight. It has excellent contrast and the screen is matte rather than reflective. It’s as good as any screen I’ve see in bright sunlight (better than my iPhone in terms of reflections and glare)

Hello, thank you for the review and your time. I have a little concern. I normally use a Garmin instinct 2 on my wrist, with Garmin Connect. I'm planning to use the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt V2 with my bike. Is it possible to use my rides inside the Garmin Connect APP ?? Has anyone experienced any issues? Thank you very much

I experienced it during my 1st time usage of Bolt V2. I didn’t have issues - only 2 duplicate rides uploaded to my Strava so you just got to delete 1 of the same activity in Strava when that happens 😊

Hi. Great video. I've been using my element bolt 2 for a couple of years, after the recent upgrade when I load a route I only get the navigation turn by turn instructions rather than any of the other data fields. I'm sure it's user error but I haven't been able to find any solution to help me resolve this. Are you able to help me?

Hi Edward, thanks for the comment. I've not used the BOLT in a little while so I haven't seen the firmware changes on a ride. I'll try to use it on an upcoming ride. In the meantime probably better to contact Wahoo support directly. They're usually quite good - a few years ago my device stopped working and they just swapped it for a new one.
