This is My Town (The Quick and The Dead movie).wmv
Фильм және анимация
The Quick and the Dead is a 1995 western film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. The story focuses on "The Lady" (Stone), a gunfighter who rides into the 1878 Wild West town of Redemption, controlled by the ruthless John Herod (Hackman). The Lady joins a deadly dueling competition in an attempt to exact revenge for her father's death.
Writer Simon Moore's script for The Quick and the Dead was purchased by Sony Pictures Entertainment in May 1993, and actress Sharon Stone signed on as both star and co-producer. Development was fast tracked after director Sam Raimi's hiring, and principal photography began in Old Tucson Studios in Arizona on November 21, 1993. Distribution duties were covered by Sony-owned TriStar Pictures and Columbia Pictures. The Quick and the Dead was released in the United States on February 10, 1995 to a dismal box office performance, and received mixed but generally favorable reviews from critics.
This was Woody Strode's final performance (the film is dedicated to him), as well as the last theatrical release of Roberts Blossom.

What is so amazing about this film is in the casting. When this film came out the only marque name in the cast was Gene Hackman. Sharon Stone was a name because she was hot of Basic Instinct, but DiCaprio and Russell Crowe were complete nobodies. David Keith and the guy who played Ace Hanlen weren't names they were actors you remembered. But when you look at this film 20 or so years later you would think this was a big budget all star cast film, but it wasn't, it just aged very well.

@Drew Smith This ^^
shit... i REALLY miss Gene Hackman. Whatever he's doing now i hope he's well and happy.
This is my most favourite scene from that flick.
If they made a movie based off of _Blood Meridian_ this guy would have nailed the role of Judge Holden. NAILED it! With a RAILROAD SPIKE!
If only he played Lex Luthor just as menacing and not so buffoonish.

Jon Goli It wasn't up to him, it was all studio interference, hence why Richard Donner was fired.

Lex WAS menacing. It's Otis that's buffoonish.

That movie was supposed to be child friendly - they didn't want a terrifying Luthor.

Stella Maris and guns make it easier to defend yourself besides knives are used to kill around 3x more people then guns per year the same goes for cars yet nobody talks about this

I agree. She closed her eyes and let go of the Crucifix she was holding when Gene Hackman killed Keith David as if she was saying "All hope is lost. I've prayed and prayed that you would send someone to rid our town of this evil man and now he's dead." Good eye my friend :-)

Gene Hackman: ONE OF THE BEST EVER
this scene is boss
Gene CAN be bloody scary when he wants to.. I say
He reminds me in this movie of his role in Unforgiven. Great Actor
Badass movie, with a badass cast
Even Herod had a slight look of surprise when he blew a baseball sized hole through the guys head. Must have looked pretty messed up from the front view.

I would normally look away from a scene like that, but it's just so silly. Raimi is great at mixing gore with cartoonishness.
