Since binge watching your channel the last four months I have grown proficient with hanging axes, talked dad into giving me grand dad's tools to restore and put to use, organized my shop using "my three things", invested in a "proper" vintage craftsman vise, finally bought chainsaw chaps, become more aware of all the real work my Mrs B does around the inside of the house and told her I appreciate her hard work ...... Needless to saw your channel has had a big impact on me.

Knowing how much it takes to run the average household, and how things break down when one of the team is unable to carry a share of the load, I imagine MrsW carries a great deal for things to run as smoothly as they do for your family. KUDOS! to MrsW for all she does and how gracefully she does it.

Thanks to Mrs W, Cody and ole Jack too. Love these classic Wranglerstar videos about projects around the homestead. I like the others too, but as I work towards my homestead its great inspiration to watch you all take care of day to day style projects that will need to be taken care of. It's like grown up school. Keep up the great work and tell the mother earth people to have a show in Nashville next year.

Have you tried rubbing a piece of chalk over the file before sharpening with it? It helps keep those shavings out of the grooves so you don't have to card it very much or at all in most cases. Found this tip in a hundred year old book set called The Boy Mechanic.

I sure wish the Forest Service still hired that way. I got out of the Navy this spring and went to a Forest Service hiring event with my two year old, daily worn boots looking better than new (Cody would approve) and they wouldn't even talk to me. To be fair, I was given the wrong information about the event. I was told it was for recent graduates and recently separated veterans, but it was just recent graduates; but nobody there was wearing boots, and I didn't even see a touch of care given to the footwear of any other person there. I spoke to a few of the other people attending and I'm sure the Forest Service got some quality employees out of that event. Hiring based on the care of footwear would have been nice though. I'd be a wildland firefighter right now for sure. I have lots of respect for those guys. It is a great service that they perform. On the same level as our troops, but not as recognized. Thank you Cody for your service and thank you to all of the other men and women who risk their lives each year saving lives, property and the beautiful wild lands that we all enjoy.

Cody, as a firefighter myself, I too am fond of the Rogue tools. I have had my particular hoe/adze/pounder for about five solid years and can complain. I have a tip for you, if you need to keep a tool in a location where it's handy, but not always protected from the sun/weather, i.e. the bed of a truck, take a piece of blown 1 1/2" wildland hose and cut to about a foot longer than the tool handle, then slide it over the handle until it bottoms out on the head. Then fold over the extra at the end of the handle. This will keep the tool handy yet protected. Works great. Anyway thanks for the great channel and watch for wind shifts

Your comment about quality tools reminded me of long ago. When I was still in school (end of the 70s) I'd go into a local sporting goods store every week or two and buy a pair of Foster Grant or I Ski sunglasses. The store owner asked me one day "Why don't you just buy some good glasses?" I said I lost or broke them so often that spending a ridiculous $45 on something like Ray Bans was a waste. He told me that if I spent more money on something with real quality I'd be more responsible with my equipment. He showed me a pair of Ray Ban Aviators he bought in Danang that he still wore every day. After a few more weeks and a few more I Skis, I bought the gold framed Ray Ban Large Aviators. I still have that old pair in a drawer today. I learned that lesson well. That's part of the reason that when I went back up to Alaska to teach I had a Gränsfors Bruk axe and a couple of Busse knives.

When I do spend a little extra on nicer tools or work wear, I have trouble keeping up with maintenance and find that I lack the discipline to stay on top of my gear. When I lived in the UK, I got a trenching hoe similar to yours. I liked it so much I brought it back to Oregon with me. The blade is slightly longer and more dished than yours. This makes it possible to haul big gulps of dirt out of holes and trenches and make cleaner, deeper trenches than pretty much any other hand tool. Much easier and more effective than a shovel. As a nation of gardeners and innovators for many centuries, the Brits have evolved superior tools for gardening and hacking away at the earth. Oh, and Mrs. W's da bomb!

Amen on buying, finding, or repairing old or new well built high quality tools. There is no substitute for good quality tools I will never get rid of mine!

Thank you for your high quality videos (I love the camera work) Your titles are sometimes annoing, but I think it is part of the business. Also I respect the way you have not gone greedy with sponsors, because they ruin many good channels etc. I respect both of you; You make videos and they are pleasure to watch and Mrs. W support you. Many women are againts hobby that take much time for her man. So I appreciate her too, it is not simple thing after all. It is very satisfying to watch the places where you live and go, and the way how you keep your property in order. I am mechanic and pedant so, I have great respect to great tools and sometimes great stories behind them. Also I like to hear your personal thoughts about your feelings and deep stuff too. Maybe someday I make some videos my self, because you have helped me many ways, and I like to help other people too. Someday, when time is right. And I also live at farmland, and I am home owner. Some people are quite mean at the comments, so I wanted that you know how much good you have done. Hope you read this someday :) Greetings from Hakkapeliitta land!

Thanks for the BLO timeframe breakdown. I always wondered how you might estimate BLO applications and reapplies.

The old timers here applied the linseed oil with steel wool or wet/dry sandpaper. I tend to us 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper. It gives it a hand rubbed satin feel to the wood - no blisters ever. I really enjoy your videos - thanks for posting.

Thank you Mrs W for your wonderful work and supporting your husband. Every man would be happy and fortunate to have a wife like you. I’m 35, single, and it’s definitely because I cannot find a woman of your caliber. God bless you and all and stay safe!!

Mrs. W, thank you so much for what you do! God gave you two each other for a reason and it seems the two of you are truly evenly yoked. Blessings upon you and the family and please know that we all appreciate and recognize your hard work so that we all can continue to benefit from this wonderful channel. God bless!

Wranglerstar, Thank you for all the time you take to explain each step, the do's and dont's I throughly enjoy watching each video. Just saw something on this video that might help, I work for a larger FD here in North Louisiana and I try and be diligent in maintaining the tools on the truck, that being said I take an old cleans out hand soap pump jug and put the boiled linseed oil in it to keep from making a mess in the table, it has made life a little simpler for me and just thought I would share, continue producing great videos and y'all stay safe. Sincerely Heath Sexton
