The other contestants were not worried because they knew no matter how good he was he would not win because he was not Chinese at the time of this contest if you were not from China you could not win you can be in the show you just could not win this was in 2017 and in 2018 they changed that rule and Jessie Jay won in 2018 but this is the show that got him out to the world so in my eyes he still won #DEARS And could you do Dimash "Screaming" Live on Idol Hits

You’re correct - if you watch this episode with English subtitles, you’ll see that another contestant commented that it was always stressful having to sing after Dimash! (Yet all the competitors are very good, professional singers, who were very welcoming and kind to Dimash - the youngest entrant by some years - who spoke no Mandarin and had never been to China before ...)

He plays the piano, he masters the dombra, the national kazakh two string instrument and he is a very good drummer too!! Thanks for your reaction!!!

Thanks again, MrLboyd, for another enjoyable Dimash reaction. I commented previously that you were a bit of a quick study in recognizing Dimash's talent and skill, and I'm glad to see here that that hasn't changed. One one point, however, I almost have to correct you just a bit. Almost. This song's original singer is one Lara Fabian, and to say Dimash sings this better than she does is, well, something Dimash himself would jump off a building to deny. You see, he positively idolizes Lara Fabian -- with good reason! -- and if you compare his cover to her original, you'll see that his version of the song is very nearly a direct copy of her version, all the way down to his non-native error production of "before I run out of faith" as "before I run out to faith", owing to Fabian's more fluent English production and Dimash's less fluent English ear. Honestly, I *do* think he sings the song better, but I really don't want to say so straight-up. His "Show Must Go On" is better than Freddie Mercury's; his "Hello" is better than Lionel Richie's; his "Opera 2" is better than Vitas's; but his "Adagio" is **greater than or equal to** Lara Fabian's. I think I can live with that statement. Almost. :) (It's a hell of a fix for me. Makes me want to go hide.) You noted the long phrase without a breath. 14 beats, I think it was. 16-18 seconds, maybe? I've never timed it. There's a one-breath phrase in "Sinful Passion" that times at 22 seconds on most people's clocks, all while doing *way* more vocal gymnastics than the long phrase here **and also** while jumping back and forth from foot to foot. Check it out!! So, again, thanks for another enjoyable Dimash reaction. Cheers.

He gives all he got to give, he lives every song, when you combine that with skills and talent you get magic.

I am completely mesmerised by this performance every time I watch it (volume on max). It is still my all-time favourite.

Dimash was the youngest competitor and only foreigner among the contestants. It was a competition for already well known musicians and Dimash was a wildcard entry. The rules of the competition did not allow a non-Chinese person to win and he came second. They changed the rules the following year. The other competitors took Dimash who was homesick under their wing and he’s still firm friends with some of them. ♥️😍🇬🇧

Dimash is Multi-instrumentalist , he can play 7 instruments👍 All the contestants are well established, famous singers so everyone is in the field long enough to be intimidated and no need to feel bad for them, and they became friends during the competition and helped each other.

Great reaction! Great facial expressions. It was as if each note was keyed to one of your facial muscles and Dimash was playing you. And the irony is that Dimash is more relaxed singing than his audience listening. I need to rest up after hearing Dimash’s amazing performance. Sometimes I forget to breathe. This annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers is judged by the audience who phones in to determine the winner after each episode and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. The competition consisted of 14 rounds and lasts almost 4 months. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash won the first two rounds, as well as this one (the 6th), for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. He came in second overall at the end of the season.

Alot of times when people try to sing vibrato, they sound like a goat. His sounds so beautiful & emotional.

I once suggested that if Michael Jordan had been a singer instead of a basketball player he would have been Dimash, His voice is unlike any other in its uniqueness. Yes....just because..And yet...it doesn't feel like "ugh...in your face". Dimash is (perhaps) the Pavarotti of his generation. (I know I know....he's not all opera. Just saying his vocal abilities, stage presence, and unpretentious yet masterful delivery / performance is very reminiscent of Pavarotti, IMHO). Thanks for posting. Keep going - there is much more of Dimash out there. ☺
