Wow. I wish I had been raised like this. ❤
Why are people so threatened by other people being nice to their own children 😭

Maybe because otherwise, they would need to realize that there is another, gentler and more loving way of raising kids than what they experienced, and nothing would be more painful than realizing that a) they were a victim of rude or even violent parents and b) they perpetuate this by doing the same to their own children.
It's a real skill, as you said. I'm a stay at home dad without much childcare experience. Thanks for putting this out
Yes, yes, yes to everything you said! You explained this style of parenting so well. I wish more people talked about it. Thank you for talking about this.
I wish I had ever had any example like you earlier in my life. I think too many authoritative parents simply have never seen how nonauthoritative parenting actually _works._ They have no idea how to teach -- and teaching is not an innate skill that comes naturally to all people. There's also the issue of how very many people never wanted or planned to have children. Yes, that's an entirely different discussion, but it does factor in here. People who don't want children are unlikely to have prepared themselves in any way for successful parenting.
Quote your sources.
I was hit by belts as a child and now at 42 I still haven’t done any violent crimes 😂 but thanks for generalizing.

She didn't say EVERY person that was physically disciplined is a violent criminal. You must feel the need to disqualify her arguments because of your personal experience. It's okay, no one called you a violent criminal because you were hit with a belt by your parents.
