I really liked how you approached this guitar solo, it really make it sit in the mix effortlessly while preserving and enhancing it's tone.
Wow! Fantastic video on EQing heavy guitars! I learnt so much from this.
Karl’s JCM 2000 rhythm tone is definitely one of my favourites
What a solo performance!! This EQ work is equal in excellence!!! Awesome video awesome channel!!
For the fellow chainsaw lovers: I use a dynamic EQ (TDR Nova, it's free) after the HM2 plugin to stomp on the palm mutes (since the HM2 boosts around 80hz) without gutting the sound while playing riffs. Your master fader will thank you for ever 👍🏻

Wonderful video Kristian! I still need to learn how to use Dynamic EQ and multiband compressor on guitars to make them sound cleaner and solid in the mix. And this video explains everything very well! 😀👍🔥🔥🔥
Can't wait to start writing with my new Randy250 plugin! I'll try out this dynamic EQ trick whenever i come up with something sick from the Randall's inspiration, thanks Kohle
You can immediately recognize Karl's style :) So awesome!

Oh yeah! A good mix of a guitar solo usually needs a lot of love and automation to be present but not annoying!
Love Pro MB. I usually have at least a dozen going in my mixes. Great for side chaining too. Be sure to crank the oversampling to 4x before mix down for best results. \m/

How do one knows if the band is cold- or warm-sounding? Where should one put his thermometer?
0:10 yes very true!
Wow. I gotta spend the time figuring out how to do this in Reaper with stock plugins now, that solo track went from wooly and harsh to glassy and singing. Bravo.
Awesome video 💪 what attack and release settings did you use in the Pro-MB?
@KohleAudioKult
Жыл бұрын
I usually go for pretty fast settings. But you should be able to see it in the course.
To be frank, I'm not a fan of leaving any high end in heavy power chord rhythm guitars that are meant to sit in an mix full of all kinds of different instruments playing at the same time, especially keyboards. For some reason, to me, the busy mix obscures the mids and lows of the power chord tracks and leaves the high frequencies create an awkward sonic shell that always has that annoying hiss, which interferes with other instruments. It feels like the power chords are surrounding the mix and not sitting in it. So what do I do? I cut pretty drastically at 2K Hz or lower! That way, the guitars are there in the background, only reinforcing an already busy mix and not hovering in the air, screeching and hissing around.
🔥🔥🔥
I like their rhythm guitar tone a lot! What was the amplification?

New to this ,drop c metal with high gain amp Sims with a TS up front in to pulse ir loader with reaper. Setting lp/hp, is 100-10k ok or 80-12k? A cut at 300 I see people do is a few DB the norm (1-4db) ,and the high end where do people cut? If I set hp at 10k do I cut 8k (1-4db).

I haven't tried this yet but what iv heard is look up your favorite guitar amp speaker frequency response and use that as a guide
Played with Nile in Jersey years ago There definitely good at what they do
i love jensen speakers they rule
Makes me wonder why amp engineers and metal producers don't get together and figure out how to create an amp that doesn't require and post processing /EQ'ing. I've seen this EQ type on hundreds of metal vides with the low/high cut and mid scoop, makes you wonder why amp companies don't work on creating an amp that has that filter already prebuilt in(?)
@KohleAudioKult
Жыл бұрын
Because you can’t build in an EQ curve into an amp that will translate through all speakers (which are more important anyway) and all mics in this world! There’s no preset for everything. Sometimes you gotta fix things manually. 🤪

Yes. That one is even a "real" dynamic EQ. With Pro-MB you're more flexible to dial in the dynamic behavior of the bands. In Pro-Q you're more flexible with the EQ bands themselves. A combination would be great. Maybe Pro-MB 2?
