It’s a very beautiful place full of wonderful people, but it’s not somewhere I’d be recommending anyone to travel to right now. It’s incredibly dangerous due to lack of government control and gangs.

Haiti is nice, but not at the moment. These videos are putting people’s lives at risk by promoting a reality in Haiti that currently doesn’t exist. Haiti is currently in a state of political and constitutional turmoil since the assassination of the president, Jovenel Moïse back in 2001. A political turmoil that is becoming more volatile with violent gangs taking control of most of Haiti and the police force in retreat. The gangs have been killing and kidnapping people for ransom. An American couple was just recently kidnapped.

@@PassportHeavy when a country is in a state of crisis - extremus necessitatis casus, an extreme case of necessity - amidst the unprecedented violence following the assassination of the president of Haiti. No specific location is currently declared as "safe". I’m not flabbergasted by your ignorance interwoven with a profound arrogance, though. People like you who invariably like to respond with the usually punchline "educate yourself," are typically uneducated about a particular matter. Stop making the situation worse for Haiti by promoting it as safe for travellers in its current state that will only do further calamitous damage to the country. Haiti needs our help. Pushing a false reality does the opposite.

@mikegkeqting What's wrong with the people of Port Aux Prince. If you did your homework you would know Port Aux Prince became a melting pot for many different parts of Haiti as Haitian people came to look for a better life in Port Aux Prince after Duvalier was sent to exile. Since then Port Aux Prince haven't been just the people who originated from Port-Aux Prince. How I know I was born and grew up In Port Aux Prince there was time we never closed out gates nor had tall walls where we couldn't see the houses and that was when we had light 24/7. Let's ask the Clinton's and the Haitian people who still decide to serve their masters since house and field negros still exist. We're not fighting here; all I'm asking let's not judge but instead look deeper than that. There are still amazing people. If Haiti is that bad why won't the U.S and everyone leave us alone.

Blm inspired video. I am a French Canadian. I grew up in Haiti from 1yo to 15yo. Yes it was a wonderful country. And in my heart I am more Haitian than any “Black” who never went there or only went as a tourist. The propaganda tone of that video is not better than the “rich” people (many Haitians included) who ransacked the country while my family and I were there. Corruption killed that country. And it has nothing to do with being white or black. From a French colony (like Canada was too, why I exist) to Duvalier to the earthquake to all the crimes… that country went through a lot. Yes, there were crazy outside interferences (specially from the USA-Clinton era was the worst-Canada is just a pawn on the international scene) in modern history. But which country does not get those interferences? The Haitian elite (Black-White who cares) let that country go to hell: 1-by letting other countries ransack it, 2-by taking its richness and leave the country forever (or until they find it suitable to come back and ransack it again or help another country ransack it). The rich diaspora living in France, Canada etc (not talking about normal Haitian migrants but the rich diaspora) killed that country. That is the reality. My father built many roads in Haiti at a time when there was nobody else left able to do it without corruption. Most of those roads are still standing up today and are well known…. We left after our right neighbours were killed (children included-they were Black Haitians) and our front neighbour got beheaded for political reasons (he was a white Haitian). When we left, in Port-au-Prince there were “protests”… and I saw a man killing others with a machete and some blood spilled on the car. It was a runaway situation for us. So yes, the beaches, the normal people, the Haitian talent for naive art, all was amazing. No Soros/BLM crap that means nothing for Haiti… But the price paid by those really loving that country (Haitians and foreigners included) was very high.

Well, they weren't "fighting off" Western Powers LIKE YOU STATED. Haiti was invading them. for example, you probably didn't know this but, Alexander petion pledged in 1815 to assist Simon Bolivar in his fight against Spain in south america,. Many Haitians helped them create the Gran Colombia. But in 1824 Haiti allies with Great Britain to invade the Gran Colombia. Boyer also invaded Santo Domingo! I mean, come on. Haiti invaded Santo Domingo during the era of "España Boba," when the Spanish weren't even present in the island, and even though Jose Nuñez de Caceres expelled the Spanish government in 1821. Haiti wasn't "fighting off" colonial powers. They became the power, and they POWER TRIPPED. Anyone want to debate me on this?

These are also the tourist places. Most of Haiti needs a lot of help. The average wage is $3.50 a day and people are fleeing to Florida because of the current gang war that is over taking the country. There are gang checkpoints everywhere between the G9 and G-PEP. There was recently 400+ people killed within 10 days there. I’m sure there are many beautiful places in Haiti, but currently the tourism and NGOs are the only thing keeping the country going.

The UN bears a huge responsibility in Haiti's troubles. The UN is the last thing that Haiti needs. Do not ever presume to speak for Haitians.

So there is a reason why Haiti is so messed up right now that I had to go and research on my own because its definitely not taught or talked about. The US has got to stop meddling for one, and France really screwed them, and imo needs to pay them back what they forced Haiti to pay. Maybe one day it will be safe to travel and can make that tourist $ like DR next door

Facts. People don’t talk or show the beautiful area of Haiti. But that’s cool don’t cause if you do it would be so busy you won’t get to enjoy it because of the crowds.
