Wow! That's amazing! You're set and ready to go!!
Thanks for sharing this idea. So much better than a bin and hanging them on the wall is a lot of work and visual clutter. These organizers don’t take up much room and can fit neatly in many spaces. Genius!!

Great idea! I bought a jewelry hanging thingy that has 80 pockets. Each pocket fits 2-3 tubes.

Great minds think alike! 😃
It looks visually appealing and organised, but you may want to consider a couple of things with this method. Firstly you may find if a tube is left too long the heavier pigments will settle at the bottom of the tube and the gum arabic separating somewhat and rising to the top. Secondly the paints may not last as long being in the open air. I keep mine sealed in a few small airtight food containers, to reduce the risk. Please don't take my comment as a criticism, it's not meant to be. It's great that you've found something that works for you. Just something to consider.

Thanks for the concern and for sharing your thoughts. Since I paint so much, I go through my paint very quickly, I haven't had any problems as you describe. I'll keep my eye open for it. Have a great day and keep on painting!!

Thanks for the question and for the feedback. I've heard that some artists, who are concerned with the pigments separating, are placing the tubes the other way in the lipstick container. They fit either way. I hope you find something that works for you. Blessings!!

You could always put the lipstick organizer on its side. If the tubes slide out, just use a bit of poster tack from the dollar store. It won’t make the tube hard to get out, just enough stick to keep it moving on its own.
This is a great idea thanks

I just stumbled upon your channel. I started my Watercolor journey 15 months ago. I immediately got one of these containers for my tubes. And, I also have the tubes in the same order, following the DS Dot Card I have. Finding the tube of color I want is Easy Peasy!!

I LOVE this method of storing my tubes. The colors are easier to find and I get less mess. :-) Thanks for watching and for leaving feedback.
Hi Friends! How do you store your watercolor paint tubes? Please share in the comments below. Thanks for helping to build this watercolor community.
Ordered one. I am new and am considering organizing alphabetically by color name. I guess that would work too until I learn more.

I organize colors into cool and warm. Blues, violets & Greens in one unit. Yellow, red and oranges in the other.
What an awesome idea! Thank you!🌸

Great idea! However, my problem is I have to bring my stuff to and from the Art and Music school I attend twice per week. Currently, I've my tubes in two compartments in one of those wood artist's boxes. It drives me crazy rooting around in there (I have chalk pastels in another section, that's even worse!). I'm thinking I can find something like you've shown here that will fit in the deepest compartment and take it from there. Thanks for the idea, Kris! 🎨

I have really found this setup to works great in my studio, for storing paint. Makes it super easy to find what I'm looking for. However, lugging it back and forth to art classes could be a challenge. When I travel, I choose to bring a more limited selection of paint, and pour it into a air-tight palette like this one. Just recently did a review on this - kzread.info/dash/bejne/onmHk9Gac6WvYKg.html I hope you find what works best for you.
Have you tried turning them upside down? They would fit much better

I like keeping them cap-side up, so that when I open them, I don't get a big burst of paint (😲 messy!!). However, I know some people like to store them that way. Either way....this system keeps my paints wonderfully organized and makes it easy to find a specific tube when I need it.
Hi Kris-love that idea!! But probably half of my tubes are the bigger ones that won’t fit. Is there a display that you can think of that is more than 1 inch square? Been searching for awhile… even spice racks! But obviously in addition to upright or at least angled, they need to be individual compartments. Any ideas would be SO appreciated. I’m tired of zip lock bags…

Thanks for watching and leaving feedback. I use the larger Daniel Smith Watercolor tubes which are 15ml or 0.5 fl oz. The bottom crimped edge of the tubes are 1 1/8" wide and they fit in this lipstick holder just fine when positioned diagonally. Sometimes I have to bend the base slightly to get it in the space....but it really isn't a problem. This holder has worked great for me. I've seen other people use boards mounted on the wall with clips or a piece of fabric with pockets. Lots of options out there. But this video shows my best option. Thanks again for watching.
I need something that will hold the bigger acrylic paint tubes .

Go to a store that sells sewing stuff and get one of those large yarn holders shaped like a suitcase. It has something like 20 separate compartments, about 4x4x4. Basically a box of cubes, except along one wall where there's a bigger space for larger things. I got mine at Joann Fabrics and Crafts. It's made out of that semi-see-through plastic, and has a sturdy handle you can use to carry it around. You need to lay it flat to open it, and I store it that way too, in the closet out of the light/heat.
