    I use harbor freight self tappers like a disposable item. Saves a lot of time on my restoration. I also bought some 8mm spot weld drill bits that have been fantastic. I was going through belts like crazy. But also, I’m trying to refit original panels in mostly, so that’s a bit different than your daily routine.

    Really enjoy your videos. The editing is always on point. What is the timeframe for doing something like this? How many hours does it take? Do you work on only one project at a time?

  • @AUTOBODYTECH

    Something like this takes a solid 20 hours of working time from start to finish and mostly one big one like this at a time with multiple other small to medium jobs

    Young man i reallly like your work i wonder on a older car like a 1985 ae86 welding a quarter panel would it be challenging for a man in your profession

    I think it would be quite similar. The metal thickness may be a little different though

    Nope! There's a bit of a learning curve for it, but once you get the hang of it. You'll never go back to doing it by hand, haha

    lastly...what do you think is the quickest way to grind down Mig welds such as the very top of your 1/4 install?

  • @AUTOBODYTECH

    @AUTOBODYTECH

    I normally start off with a cut off wheel and a thick grinding disc. I've done a video on this called "finishing c-pillar joint like a pro" should check it out !!

    The hockey puck being rubber, does it cause less damage vs a metal dolly when working a flange over like that? How does energy transfer differ from the two? Noob question from an apprentice lol

  • @AUTOBODYTECH

    @AUTOBODYTECH

    4 ай бұрын

    the hockey puck is just the perfect hardness where as the metal dolly could create some damage because of the hard metal edges(no give). alternatively a metal dolly with a few strips of masking tape will also do. I will be doing a video on how to correct small damage or waves when doing a hemmed flanged in the future. stay tuned!

    what structural adhesive do you use? seems like that would be excellent to keep water out of the wheel arch after the spot welds ... does the adhesive interfere with the welding at all?

  • @55classic1

    and what is the anti-flutter brand?

  • @AUTOBODYTECH

    @AUTOBODYTECH

    4 ай бұрын

    The structural adhesive is SEMs structural adhesive and no problems with spot welding. I actually think it welds even nicer with it.. I actually used SEMs 1 part sealant here but they have an anti flutter. I believe it's called expanding urethane foam. It's a 2-part product.
