This Is How I Learned How Toxic Fame Really Was | Russell Brand

Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to Russell Brand about the challenges of maintaining a public image while protecting family privacy; his concerns over exposing too much of his personal life, especially his children, on social media; his changing attitudes towards fame and the toxicity of celebrity culture; the recent challenges his family faced, including his son's heart surgery, which gave him a new perspective on life; and much more.

    Back when he was a wildman comedian, I found him to be not only very funny but unique and brilliant. Since his spiritual awakening, it's great to see his maturity, growth, and sobriety enhance his life. He truly has had one wild and crazy ride, but I've enjoyed every stage of Russell's progression. All men and women who are in a relationship and raising kids can relate on so many levels. But we always seem to find the ways we aren't alike to be the main focus. No matter what color or background you are, we can all relate so heavily on family kids and relationship and we need more of that to bond us from those who are out to divide us.

    Russell Brand has really changed and God has obviously changed his life. As a father of a daughter who has had multiple heart surgeries her first at day one, it was the most overwhelming experience I’ve ever experienced and I certainly will keep his family in my prayers. My daughter is now 28 next month and she’s still having some issues but she’s as healthy as can be you would never know it to look at her.

    I have a theory that if the parents are from different ethnic backgrounds, the children are more healthy genetically. Not to offend you but if you and the other parent of your child are from similar ethnic origins, there is often not enough diversity of genes to produce healthy offspring all the time. Don't blame little 'ol me for pointing this out however - this is designed by nature, which as we all know is very ruthless. The problem is that all races outside of Africa descend from an original small group of related individuals who escaped to the rest of the World about 100,000 years ago, and then populated the rest of it over the next 80,000 years or so. There was unfortunately not enough genetic diversity in that original group however. As a result, people who mate with others that come from very similar national and ethnic origins are often mating with long-lost relatives. This creates a paucity of genes in the pool, that can then mean defects at birth more often. If the person is physically healthy, they might instead have mental ailments - a lack of character, morals, empathy. Look at certain races who only breed among each other and you will see weaknesses in their make up - English and Japanese come to mind but there are many others.

    @@gregorymaupin6388 The premise is based on race yes - interbreeding within the same race can and does produce people with flaws, sometimes serious ones, more than interbreeding with those of another race. If that's not disputed by you, then I gather you would agree with the premise? Look into the Hapsburg Jaw, hemophilia among royal blood lines, hybrid vigour, and the dangers of incestual breeding, if you're unsure about the science behind what I posit.

  • @ReturnOfTheJ.D.

    @ReturnOfTheJ.D.

    Ай бұрын

    @@gregorymaupin6388 So many things trace back to genetics however, that's the problem. Two inbred people however, if not from the same clan, can breed with each other and create a non-inbred. My theory isn't based on any set of genes producing more or less bad or good - my theory is that too much of anything is bad. Or to put a twist on an old saying - too few cooks spoil the broth. Everything in moderation. A combination is more powerful than too much of any one thing, any one genetic makeup (where both of the genetic inputs come from people from the same small gene pool). One case in point is Adolf Hitler - his parents were first cousins. He suffered from physical ailments for most of his life according to his doctors and I believe, some severe mental abnormalities also. He sounds maniacal in several speeches as well - totally off the rails and detached from reality. He also created a war that killed 60 million people. There is strong evidence that he placed no value on human life also - because if he had surrendered when he knew that Germany had no chance of winning - hundreds of thousands of Germans would not have died in the final months of that war. It's by no means uncommon for inbreds to put no value on other human lives. Hitler was unfortunately, treated like a healthy and normal human being when it's clear he wasn't. He wasn't worthy of the adoration he received.

Seriously... when the only part of various celebrities I was acquainted with was their best work? I loved them all. They seemed like a kind of Olympian pantheon of exceptionally talented, and good-looking people. People with an insanely cool job, who I wanted more than anything to emulate. Then... social media made me more, and more acquainted with them as individuals... and the less I liked them over time. To the point where now when I see one talking without the benefit of a script? My default reaction is to find something else to do.

    It's not fame....it's attention-seeking and being manipulated to over-look for your affirmation from others (at the expense of all else unfortunately) which he's STILL doing while also ironically baptising himself into a new single-think encouraging ideology/cult in a self-serving endless loop......Russell and folks like him are unfortunately fuelled and run by drama. His new stance is at least more endearing than the old one.
