Not a single Iranian has heard this song and not shed tears listening to it. Your reaction was very touching for someone who has not lived this Iranian nightmare for the past 44 years. The song tells the story of a nation taken hostage by a savage, brutal and barbaric regime with inhuman and Stone Age ideology. The regime's disregard for life in any form and shape is just mind-boggling. The way they treat (or actually mistreat) women and human beings in general does not belong to our Persian culture and beliefs. This Grammy-winning song was composed, sang and recorded in three hours. The lyrics were selected from thousands of tweets by the Iranians, giving their reasons FOR (BARAYE) having this revolution, known as “Woman-Life-Freedom”, led by women which is still ongoing. Each line of the lyrics resonates with Iranians especially and has a story known to them behind it. Street demonstrations have subdued due to incredible violence used by regime thugs against the peaceful protestors, but a great majority of Iranians, especially the women, have decided to get rid of this criminal and corrupt gang of murderers. Their everyday actions are very much in defiance of the regime doctrines. Things such as forced hijab. Millions of Iranian women openly walk in the streets without the forced hijab, risking arrest, prison, rape, or even death. Iranian lionesses have made their mind up and are not backing down. Shervin was arrested after releasing this song and has been under surveillance after his release from prison.
