    A good 4K master on UHD Blu-ray will look and sound as good as a typical digital cinema, but falling short of IMAX. Fitting, too, since this will likely be the final optical media format.

    Ultra 4k TVs and program content four times the resolution of Blu-ray, would make DVDs and Blu-rays obsolete. The studios and copyright holders fear that release catalog content in 4k would spell the end for them.

    Most blu rays are as cheap as DVD now so there's no excuse to keep using DVD. I think people are just being stubborn and not wanting to change. Blu ray kicks DVD's ass in picture and sound if you have a really good HD monitor!

    @@NintendoDude888 What do you mean? All you need is an HD/or 4K tv which are the standard tvs now and a lot cheaper nowadays, an HDMI cable and that's it! True, DVDS can be played on any standard def tv but it's not difficult to set up/ play blu rays anymore either.

    I got into DVD in May 1999, I bought discs before I had player. At the time this demo was making DVD sound cool. But, this demo does not mention the laserdisc (a format launched in 1978). This demo making that DVD sound like the last word in home theater, but we know the Blu-ray disc is the true home theater format, since DVD offers only 480p lines of resolution (blu-ray is 1080p). Yes, superior to VHS. Sony has similar material at the head of their Blu-ray discs. In fact its getting annoying.

  • @GreenNekoProductions

    @GreenNekoProductions

    Sony technically didn't make the Blu-Ray, it was coincidentally made by a company called Blu-Ray Disc. Oh, by the way, VHS DID come in HD, 1080i to be exact. It was called D-VHS.

  • @andrewparke1764

    @andrewparke1764

    4 ай бұрын

    @@user-dv2hc8zt3o It's a little more complicated than that. The format that was released in 1978 had top-loading machines with only analog audio and no chapter select. MCA called it DiscoVision, Magnavox called it MagnaVision, and Philips called it LaserVision, but it was ultimately branded as LaserDisc when Pioneer pushed the format forward in the late '80s by adding digital audio, carrying the name "CD-Video" for a brief early period. By the mid-'90s, the format already had Dolby Digital and DTS.

    4:44 DVD is the format for the future.... for the next ten years and then Blu-Ray will be the format for the future.... and, another ten years after that, 4K Blu Ray will be the format for the future.... but, if you wait just another ten years after that, streaming will be better than any one of these digital mediums.
