Sacha Girvan yah they’re step siblings I think that instead of el doing all the stuff with billy ( which didn’t make sense ) I should have been max so before he died she could see that billy was a good guy and learn about each other they could have done that max since she’s part of Billy’s family could see what billy was doing and I don’t know had a connection. In season 4 I would like too see what Billy’s death did to her and her back story and el didn’t know anything about billy before she came into his mind

If it wasn't for Dacre probably none of us would've sympathized with Billy in the end. Dacre was bullied through all his school life so he knew how he wanted to realize this role, and that bullies always come from some inner pain or trauma at home... Dacre's just such a professional and the result obviously resonated.

15/10 actor right there. Not only does he know how to express emotions (especially utilizing his own past) but also he gives 110% when he acts, seeing as how he was covered in real cuts and bruises after intense filming scenes because of how hard he went. Ik it's cheesy but like, what a king.

Apart from Steve, Billy is my favourite character from Stranger Things. I feel like he elevated season 2 so much and I was gutted when he died in season 3. Unreal arc and the tears in his last moments before he sacrifices himself as El informs him that she knows of his inner pain is just amazing

@@BurningMarsh I don’t think he was racist. Yes he hated Lucas in particular, but they didn’t say why. Perhaps he was jealous that Maxine was making friends and he wasn’t. You gotta remember, he didn’t just hate Lucas. He hated everyone who wasn’t Nancy’s mum. He made degrading remarks about high school girls, he hated Hawkings as a town, he hated Steve Harrington, he called a fat kid “lard ass”. He hated pretty much everyone and everything. The way I see it. It was a projection. He hated himself coz he couldn’t protect his mum from his dad. He probably blamed himself for his mum leaving. He didn’t quite come to terms with his past. He was lashing out, taking it out on everyone because he didn’t cope properly with his mum running away especially with his dad around slapping him about. Hence why he worked out like a maniac. He’s a classic case of “Hurt people hurt people”.

They didn’t really delve into why Billy was racist, but he targeted Lucas - the only black kid in their friend group. He literally told her “don’t hang out with people like that, they cause trouble” specifically pointing to Lucas. He didn’t like the idea that she was potentially romantically involved with a black dude. So yeah, he had many issues, he was hateful in general, he had trauma, but he was also racist lol

@@CrystalRose1111 you think he’d react differently if it was Dustin or Mike? I don’t think so. You could swap any characters for Lucas and everything he said about Lucas would still make sense in terms of his character. It would still be consistent with his character and role. “Don’t hang out with kids like that” could mean anything. He could mean, he hated nerds, or the loners in school or people with full families. Or he could be rambling nonsense like he always does. Adding that he was racist does not make sense. It doesn’t add to his story arch. His story is a redemption story, it takes you from hating him, to feeling sorry for him to loving him. He is a result of his childhood trauma, and environment. When the mind flayer possessed him, and he lost control of his body, there is a good person in there regretting the things he’s forced to do by the mindflayer. In the end, when he focused on the good memories with his mum, he came through and made the ultimate sacrifice, redeeming himself. Adding that he’s racist, doesn’t add anything to that arch. So I think he wasn’t a racist, he just picked on Lucas because he’s the one most frequently seen with Max and he didn’t like Max having any friends. But if it was Dustin, he would have said exactly the same thing. He hated everyone except middle aged mums, which again comes back for his unresolved issues with mummy. His control issues, and rage and hatred of the world was a result of his mummy issues, which came from his childhood trauma which were resolved in the end. He couldn’t control his dad being abusive, his mum abandoning him, his dad having a second family, so he tried to control max and in the end, he lost control of himself with the mind flayer. When he got it back, and sacrificed himself, his last bit of control he said sorry to max. So being a racist, doesn’t fit his character story arch.

The only thing, is that earlier, in season 2, they could've written his character better, they could've showed the abuse seen when steve was holding off the demo-dogs in the junkyard, and Billy could've held them off too to help Max, but that all aside, he was one of the best characters in this series

I love the scene where he tells El that he's going to end everyone, as a tear falls from his eye. Such a nice touch, letting us know that the real Billy was still in there, and he knew that what he was being forced to do was so very wrong. I sometimes wish that Billy had survived as a newly self-aware and more empathetic person. The continued struggle between him and his own dark side could have been epic! Not to mention he would have made an awesome ally in the fight against the mind flayer. But I guess he had to die so that Steve could continue to shine!

Bro his death about destroyed me, the fact that in his final moments he was able to overcome the mind-flayer and sacrificed himself to save the kids,,,,, 😭 I loved getting to learn more of his backstory this season and the writers did SUCH a good job explaining but not excusing his actions. Like we learned what made him into this abusive piece of shit and are able to feel empathy for all that’s he’s gone through, yet that doesn’t make us forgive anything he’s done which made his death hit even harder, because this is a character who I wished would just choke last season, but now I’m full on sobbing over his death because him sacrificing himself was the ultimate price to pay to save el’s and probably everyone else’s life, which showed that deep down, underneath all that trauma and abuse he’s suffered in his life, he was still that young innocent little boy. Now that’s some powerful shit, Duffer Brothers, y’all really did the damn thing

Its so sad, Billy just needed help. When his dad hit him, you see him crying because he's overcome so much abuse from his dad its so sad because he did have so much to live for. He just needed help. He needed more support, better friends, and to heal his family relationships

Billy literally deserved so much better. 1: He got abused by his dad 2: His mom left him and didn't say goodbye. 3: In season 2 episode 8, at 8:20 into the movie, you can see the pain in his eyes referring to how his dad slapped him across the face and canceled his date because his 13 YEAR OLD SISTER WENT OUT WITH LUCAS... 4: HE RISKED HIS LIFE TO SAVE HIS SISTER... @@killboggins Not an excuse, you clearly didn't understand the comment. They are saying he deserved better because of his life and circumstances, as someone who has been through abuse I can tell you my reaction was to harden, it was to become mean and angry and defensive. This was clearly also his reaction, and it's difficult to be anything but abusive when it's all you've ever known. His character is complex and getting to know him through the series is what made people connect with him and see him as a hero in the end, someone worthy of redemption. He is not evil or irredeemable, he was emotionally stunted and abusive as most boys are in his shoes, he had room to grow and he did. He apologised to Max in the end, upon realising it was an option and something he felt he needed to do. He went through fear and trauma to understand, if he had been kept alive longer I'm sure all of these 'but wah wah he was abusive!!' comments would be fewer, because you would see his true personality and growth. P.S. he was nowhere near as abusive as his father to anyone despite this, and was constantly protecting Max from him and any other outside forces he (wrongfully) deemed harmful AKA Lucas.

It makes sense that theorized vecna went after him. He felt his vulnerable nature with a hard exterior. He was horrible and so was his father but vecna probably prayed on him because he saw and felt his weak and scared interior.

Even though Billy had a reason for being abusive, that doesn’t mean that it’s an excuse. You can tell that Billy wants to change (sorta), so it sucks that Billy died before he could change. Because Max never got to have the brother she hoped she would have. Max doesn’t deserve to feel so much grief and guilt over such a toxic relationship.

I hate it how they make it so every death is extra devastating because of 1-2 reasons. Billy: He just redeemed himself. Barb: She died because of her best friend's choice which barb told her not to do. Her last word was "Nancy" Bob: Joyce was right there. He was so close. Hopper: Eleven and Joyce. Everyone knew he could survived if the song did not happen. Alexei: He was having fun. He was having fun.

I feel like Billy is a perfect example of how children mirror there parent’s behavior. You can tell with each instance he’s mean or cruel to those around him it’s because he’s doing it so he doesn’t appear weak. I remember Dax Shepard in his podcast was talking about how when he was younger, guys threatening him and being cruel used to make him feel violent rage, but as he got older all he saw in those guys was a scared broken child that was abused in some way or another putting on a facade of toughness so they can never be hurt like they were when they were helpless.

There isn’t a video like this about Hopper because he isn’t dead🙃

Terminium uhh actually.. he does have a story, in season one we found out he had a daughter named Sara who died tragically from cancer and also how Hopper and his wife divorced .. But in season 2 he hid El after the gang thought she was gone and soon he adopted El after she found out her mother’s brain had fried and couldn’t take care of her. And everything else that happened, so you see he does have a story, but fans are making predictions that he is still alive and I’m one of them who thinks that way as well. But Netflix probably didn’t make one of these vids for him maybe because of that reason?

billy is such a great character. he isnt evil. he is in anger. when eleven talked to him shortly before the mindflyer got him, i bet it was the first time since his mom died that someone showed compassion towards him.

I was hoping for Billy to have a character development and join the squad 😭 he deserved better

He died sacrificing everything for a girl he barely knew, just by reminding him of this mother. Now THAT is compassion. Edit: ty for the likes, appreciate it !

Not every character can live. The reason Billy was so great was because you saw who he truly was in the end. Sometimes you don’t appreciate things until they’re gone. So his death was actually a good thing.

Well shit, Eleven used all her powers and almost life force and was sorta...clinging to life. She ultimately helped save everyone (along with Billie) So I think she deserves some type of hug. But I agree Max should’ve gotten a hug, but at least El was the first one to give it to her.

To be honest, I feel really bad for Billy. Being abused his entire childhood and his death was so emotional and sad :(

The “I’m sry” hits different dacre is such a brilliant after he gave 110%

They should've kept him alive and let him redeem his relationship with max, steve, and literally everyone. He would have been such a good addition to their group.

They took that line from his audition tape 💀 he was role playing and they loved it so much they decided to use it

He had the craziest ride and he was human at the end of the day. Loved this progression

Steve and Billy have an underrated relationship throughout the show. The scene where Billy tells Steve that he's moving his feet is awesome because it shows us that he's super tough, but not a total dick because he's giving steve advice. Also when they fight and Billy says "looks like you got some fire in you after all, Harrington!", that's Billy paying Steve legit respect. Finally, when Billy is beating steve up and says "no one tells me what to do" that was mainly just Billy taking his anger toward his father out on steve.

I think billy actually really cared about max and wanted to protect her. He had a bad childhood and didnt want max to have one too. :( Edit: he probably had ptsd and that’s why he was violent later in life before the mind flayer took over him

Billy was my favorite… I connected with him… abusive dad… and fuck… he was truly a great character. I’m glad Eddie came along to take up his spot. Billy and Eddie were my favorite two people…

his death hurt me the most cause he reminded me of my own brother, down to the facial features and body type and memories almost. it was almost like watching my brother die in front of me, first person death on movie that has ever made me cry
