I've heard it called heart and soul. I think it's what I do when I sing about my husband who passed away. People usually cry and tell me it's when you give yourself to the songs meaning and the love you felt and they can feel an emotional connection. For me I do that when I sing about God and when I sing about love the most.

Angelina is music and she breaths music.

What amazes me also is the fact Angelina conveys all the emotions with her voice only, even when she is performing live on stage. No wild dancing around, no overpowering instrumentals, no over dramatic moves: just her voice and one supporting guitar. So we are focusing almost automatically on the voice, the melody and the lyrics. And may be it is just that, that we are feeling the songs she takes on so intens in our selves.

Angelina has a category all her own. The words are beautiful. She started singing at 18 months. So yes she's definitely got a handle on her jazzy tone.

Simply RAW and angelic. Angelina Jordan is not just a singer she's a lot of other things. Her Raw vocals are special... Legendary. Even so it's so raw and spontaneous that she's reading lyrics on the take. Never will I ever get tired of listening to her multiple layered rich vocals. There's no bitrate that captures her full vocal richness yet, I bet on it. There's simply no match to her talent...

I don’t think I’ll ever NOT have a “holy shit” moment every single time she starts singing.

There are so many skills that make her a great singer. But one of them for sure is the personal and intimate tone in the way she uses her voice. Almost like whispering, sitting on your lap! She gives the listener the feeling she loves you personally. As a (grand)daughter, sister, girlfriend, ... you name it! Boy would I like to give her a big hug to thank her for all the beautiful comforting moments she gave me! Staaaay ... to sing for us forever!

She was 12 for this one. The mic was a 12th birthday gift, and she used it almost exclusively until she started recording at Republic.

There is no possible way this song can be sung any more beautifully than this.

I think to understand what she does you first must accept she is incredibly emotionally, musically empathetic. She has grown up absorbing music so that in a way music is her first language. It is the way she experiences the world. She, through the the lyrics and voices of great artists who have experienced life, has lived these emotions second hand in the vast catalogue of music she has listened to. Who else her age has this comprehensive a knowledge of all the great vocalists through modern history.

Phenomenal young lady. The phrasing, all of it, it cuts through a lot of us.

Nick, it's tough to put Angelina's performances on different levels because everything she does is wonderful, BUT, there is no denying this particular rendition of 'Stay' can only be described as GREAT! I'll be long gone but I can picture the following story taking place somewhere in the world, a story which will be repeated time after time. Angelina will have just introduced a new song and everyone is raving about it. Let's say she is about 30 something, or 40ish. One person will be telling the other one, "Isn't she fantastic! I can't believe how great she is!" The other person will reply, "Yes, she's incredible!. But, what you need to do is go back and listen to her sing a song called 'Stay' when she was about 12 years old. I know you'll enjoy it very much." Nick, her life of music is so extraordinary none of it will ever be forgotten. Whatever artist in the world will come out with a new song which listeners predict will win awards and the conversation between two people will be about listening to her when she was 12 !? I'm so happy you have come aboard with all of us on her journey. Her voice and artistic awareness is head shaking and, at the same time Angelina is as sweet as they come, humble, kind, caring and loving a person you will ever find in your lifetime. Her love is in your heart and will never leave you. When this song started, within, what, 3 seconds (?), your heart identified Angelina's voice and took over your body. Without complicating things it's rather simple. She loves to sing for us and we love to listen to her.

…which one of us is..caving. She drops it back a quarter beat and hollows out the pocket and lays the note ever so gently in the heart. This is genius and soul at a level only a handful have ever achieved.

Born to Die is another song to show her talent to convey to the audience profound emotion from a simple less dramatic melody.

The guitarist is Ivan Mendez. Whenever you see him in a video, Angelina is 12 years old and in LA. You should definitely listen to Adele's A Million Years Ago as sung by Angelina. And California Dreaming, both with Ivan playing. There are no words . . . Thanks for the reaction, Nick.

The guitarist, Ivan Mendez, played for Angelina during 2018 when she was 12 years old. Ivan said in an interview with Alan Papier (interview on his channel) that he would be invited to the Astar home (Angelina's full name is Angelina Jordan Astar) and socialize with the family for hours. Late in the evening, Angelina would ask Ivan if he knew a song. If he did, then they would start the video camera and begin the song. Ivan said most videos we watch were the first take and if more than one take was needed, it was because he made a mistake. Angelina is on a different level.

Thank you for continuing your reactions to Angelina. The next song needs to be "A million years ago". Another song cover by Angelina at this age and IMO even better vocals which is hard to believe.

I did not like this song before, but AJ somehow magically turned it into something beautiful.

I love this version of this song and if this makes sense to anyone I'll say that Ms Jordan has one of those voices that you just cannot not listen to coz it's so hypnotic. (Thank you for a great reaction fella)

This is one of my favorite covers of hers. Her ability to inflect and emote emotion on each phrase really reveals and peels back to the heart of this song. I also love how the guitarist shows how he feels playing the guitar for her on this song. The acoustics on this recording is also one of the best! I love you Angelina!

Yes, correct! Her voice is perfect for multiple genres. I haven't ruled out opera yet due to her crescendos in "Feeling Good" and Elvis' "It's Now or Never," and a couple of others. Who knows what possibilities she will achieve in the next five or ten years? Time will tell, and I hope time is on my side to let me witness it! Lol!

I know it's akin to sacrilege to name favorite Angelina covers because they are all so damned good, but this one definitely made a huge impression on me back in the day and it honestly still does. Truly a vocal one-take wonder, and so engrossing to watch her expressive hand/arm movements, too. She made a ton of fantastic covers as a 12-year-old. Hey Nick! This was the first song I ever heard from Angelina and I was immediately hooked. Soaringly beautiful with all of her vocal elements on display. Still my favorite for sentimental reasons I guess, I needed to hear this at the exact time I stumbled upon it. An angel entered my life. Thank you Angelina, and thanks again for another great reaction Nick!

All the musicians for her are top notch. From solo guitar, piano, jazz band or orchestra.... they all love playing for AJ!

Anything she does is better than the original

We have been calling her the Barefoot Princess which came early on because she has not warn shoes performing sing late 6 and early 7 years old.... The Angel with a 1000 voices which popped up when many heard her singing so many different types of music from around 10 years old,,, and a new phrase that just popped up thanks to reactor "The Fairy Voice Mother" who said AJ is "50 Shades of Perfect" keep it up with the AJ!!!!

Sometimes, I'm not sure how safe it is to listen to her. Bear with me. You see, she JAMS so much emotion and feeling into my poor heart (something that never happened when listening to the original) that I sometimes worry that said poor heart might not be able to take it and might just explode. But I'll take my chances. I'll NEVER stop listening to her! One totally amazing aspect of this performance (and she also does this in several of her other covers) is that she pours so much emotion and feeling into the song WHILE READING THE LYRICS OFF A SCREEN! Mindboggling!!

It's impossible to hear her interpreting this song & find the applicable words that are worthy of what we hear... What she draws from us emotionally is mesmerizing, she defies our efforts to appropriately describe her magic, her lyrical mastery... And she did it singing on a stool, & not from a bathtub... Yet , her hauntingly interpretation is beautifully moving..Yep, much "Mo Betta" that the original by light years😄😉🎶🎼🎙️🔥🤯🤯. Great reaction Nick! Peace

When people say she has an old soul and that she's a great storyteller, a song like this really displays both of these two characteristics. Clearly high up in her top ten and it is crowded up there. Her tone is just magnificent and mysterious squeezing every drop of emotion out of the melody and lyrics , and for her age she is completely in another league, a true prodigy, no hyperbole.. She is a most captivating performer! No wonder the guitar player is "suffering"at 6:32. And her tone on "saving" at about 6:58, mind melting...and on and on.

Just subscribed, recommend you go back to 8 year old Angelina live performance at a festival Summer of 2014 in Norway “What a Difference a Day Makes”, right after she won Norway’s Got Talent and donated the 80,000 dollars to charity. This one always gets me to tear up, and I have seen it hundreds of times.

Wow! She sounds great. If I was not familiar with the original artist, I would think she was the original artist.

AJ does not a cover song she recreates them and makes them hers. Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith) produces her and when she was younger, she recreated song from all three of these stars. Can you imagine what Rihanna thought when she experienced AJ's version of "STAY"?

It is better than the original.

Acoustic Angelina is Angelina at her most mesmerizing. Just an impromptu version with her accompanist, Ivan-unproduced, unfiltered, unprocessed. She’s 12 here, I believe, and her voice and interpretation take this to another level never reached with the original. There’s a sort of companion piece to this: it’s Ivan and Angelina again, just jamming, and it’s her cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago. It is absolutely staggering. I really love her version of Stay, but her cover of A Million Years Ago just grabs your soul and makes you reflect on your own life. I wonder if the losses she had suffered in early life (a beloved grandfather, a close musical friend, and perhaps others) hasn't sensitized her to the emotions of love and loss and longing. I hear it in all her original compositions and many of her covers. Plus, she knows jazz, had studied it for years, even at this young age. I always get chills. This song is among my all-time Angelina favorites for its thrilling nuances, runs, sustains, and vocal beauty. One of my other favorites for similar qualities is her rendition of Summertime with the KORK orchestra. Magical.

Ivan Mendez Watch as Ivan Mendez, Angelina's LA guitarist reacts to her voice, he is blown away by her storytelling vocals, and was working with her very often. This is a classic example of the fact that no matter how many times one has experienced AJ performances she has the ability to hypnotize you with those storytelling vocals.

The guitarist, Ivan Mendez, recorded with Angelina for about 6 months in 2018 (12 year old AJ). This was Angelina's first year living in LA.

You THOUGHT you had heard it. Lol. NOW you've heard the song properly sung. Like so many other songs, it belongs to Angelina now. Sorry Rhi. Correction, her voice perfectly suits every song.

Hi Nick 👋. Awesome reaction to 12 Angelina. Anytime you see Ivan Mendez next to her playing guitar she will be 12. Try and react to her cover of "Million years ago", an Adele song. Also Ivan Mendez was playing guitar off to the side when she sang "How great thou art", but you can't see him, she also sang the whole song in the same key as Elvis. Angelina has a very precise choice of what she wants to sing, in pop always songs with deep lyrics to then add her small or large variations that further enrich the piece and she always performs incredible performances, whether she is in front of 40,000 people like in Korea opening Nora Jones concert or here, alone with Ivan Mendez, nothing affects her when she sings because...she was born for this and it's a wonderful gift for all of us, thanks Nick for your sincere reactions, good life and music..Massimo👍

She is 12 years old here. This is a pretty perfect cover from Angelina. I couldn''t pinpoint anything in the song that she could have done better no matter how hard I would try. And the recording had been very quick with Ivan Mendez (the guitarist). This was the 1st or the 2nd take I think.

In response to your trying to understand how Angelina could apply as much emotion laden penetration to a song like this that she does, since it would only make sense if it came from an adult singer who has actually experienced memories in their own life? Well, Angelina has been musically mentored by the most improvisational singer of all time, Ms. Billie Holiday. She has heard Billie's full catalog of musicality where she could hear unique forms of phrasing, nuance, inflections, breathy releases and a host of additional elements that no other singer ever did. She was able to compartmentalize all she heard in her memory and then could refer to any of it instantaneously whenever she wanted to bring the essence of it into what she was about to sing. She has heard all the great singers, but comments she made to Nadia Neophytou in an interview, encapsulates what I've said. Her remarks were, 'I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love that came from Billie Holiday's legendary music, THERE WOULD NOT BE ANGELINA JORDAN TODAY', also adding, 'I am very blessed that her music found me very early'. She clearly places Billie 'alone' at the top of the musical pedestal, sharing that distinction with no other singer. Billie was an uneducated, self taught singer who never had a mentor and struggled through a hard life that consisted of having a mother who was a prostitute and a father who was never around. Still, she made her way to the night clubs of Harlem where she was crowned 'Queen Of Jazz'. The emotion she could bring into songs emanated from her own life, which Angelina was able to tap into, and were fueled by two horrendous experiences Billie absorbed. One was knowing her father died when hospitals in the south refused to treat 'Blacks', and the other was a poem she read called 'Strange Fruit' that talked about how 'Blacks' were hung dead from trees in the deep south. Billie converted it into a song by the same name and even though it was banned from radio stations in the south, it still sold over a million copies.

Love it!!! Thanks for your reaction. The lyrics are fantastic. She pulled 6 songs out of the 100 she's said that wrote and put them on her new EP Old Enough. And we already know she a master at arrangements. Angelina can do it all and does it do well.

This performance is up there with my favourites, simply stunning and seems impossible that the original could be made better, then we have seen Angelina do it so often we shouldn't be surprised. Lovely reaction as well.

She got the Neuman mike for her 12th birthday I believe it was from the military staff band after she sang on the album It's Magic. She did it to help support them.
