Josh Smith, awesome playing!! I’ve seen you in several scenarios playing in the background and emerging as an incredible guitarist. One particular video you describe your method of using arpeggios from chords. Incredible insight! And change you can give some more details for us working students?

How can 100 people not like this? Anyone who knows anything about music knows how good these two are. The rhythm section is pretty darn slick too!

Obviously the solos...but Eric’s comping moves my soul. Simple but his rhythm and accents makes the band groove so well!

Josh is one of the best guitarists nobody has heard of; but those cats are FREAKY good!!!

Eric's style is unique. He seldom dribbles into the zone. It's like he goes with the flow, waits for it and when he drops that ball, man it's like a huge iron ball that goes boom. His style is formed around a sports car concept - drive it slow and it just keeps on begging to go fast. Thing is he can play. Weird to say, there is such a thing as guitarists who can't play. Eric is astonishing in how he moves from styles and rhythms seamlessly from single note runs including off notes and jazz chords to power chords and pure blues rock phrasing. Josh is just an incredible player that is always improving, never stagnant. Really appreciate being able to see this kindle of talent, music is everything, thanks for posting.

Those 2 are bad ass ..., and the inter play between the 2 is just nuts ... the chops and feel , absolutely insane.

I bet eric would jam with anyone on that level.. he is truly ALWAYS genuinely happy when those blues are playing. I LOVE IT.

I love Josh's playing, but for me this was the first time I heard Eric play. Both incredible players. First time hearing Josh sing too, he does that real fine as well.

Superb, blues guitar doesn't get any better than this with two great guitarists sometimes playing note for note with each other. Eric's rhythm playing was outstanding too. Anyone who voted this down obviously doesn't like or understand the blues and has no soul.

Two absolute monsters that scare us all. My favourite duel outside of Steve Vai and Ralph Machio in Crossroads. Wish they would hook up twice a year for the rest of my life. Can’t get enough.

Wow, after all these years, I am still amazed by emotive qualities of guitar, and these two make me want to rip on my strat for hours. The all mighty groove is so heavy here, I am still jamming along in my head. The intensity and skillful fun in which Josh and Eric play with here, just reinforces my deep seeded love of all things blues. And the groove is still playing, thanks BB King for such a great platform and timeless classic.

the first part of the solo of JS sounds fairly simple but the way he hits those notes and the touch of it - that' s the difference between someone good and someone great! And you think about the solo by JS that' s it - how can it possible stay up there let alone get better. But then you know the other insane guy on stage! And this cat plays everything by listening to reccords and tapes when he was young. Listen to and LOOK at him: this guy gotta be on PEDs... And what better song can there be than "Paying the Cost To Be The Boss"??! This one and "The Thrill Is Gone" are my all time favs by B.B. King! SKIP EVERYTHING I WROTE SO FAR - THERE' S JUST ONE WORD TO IT: THE BEST BLUES GIT DUAL I HAVE EVER HEARD! Also because there is this huge mutual respect.

100 percent talent 100 percent soul.. Blues will always continue as long as these musicians continue to play. So pure

Gales is on a completely different level. There is no one living to compare him with.

Gales is absolutely amazing .......but listen ....Josh is right there with him man. These two have very similar styles. Gales can get a little wilder and more free than Josh but that back and forth they had ......that was a draw bro. Both great.

Really? From this, Josh was playing circles around him lol. Granted Eric Gales is another phenomenal guitarist and one that I like but you coming to that conclusion from this video is weird. Did you not see Josh playing his diminished runs? Lol

So great. I've been following both of these guys for years. The obvious respect for each other as players is so wonderful to see. Did anyone else notice Josh conducting the band by showing the chord changes, stay on the 1 boys!. Just so good. Two of my favorites here and Josh is a heck of a teacher too. Thanks for posting despite the sign on the wall that says not to ;) That's really how guys like this get their exposure. Cheers!

one of the most intensive blues solo i've ever heard..Eric Gales is awesome!

Great players - Eric seems to just play in his own special universe of mind boggling talent and groove. And Josh is also something else !

Two of the best out there, no doubt.

A Great Band. the whole group, and how they play together, and the perfect blues time...I only discovered EG a week ago, and Josh Smith right now. Them trading licks is such a treat. This is the best blues I've heard since Hendrix recorded Come On.

Yeah josh smith has more complex harmonic and bebop phrasing. Eric has monster chops, incredible dynamics, can hold a solo right on the edge of falling apart, hes mind blowing and josh is the most refined blues player I’ve ever heard.

@Headwhacker It's not that unusual, e.g. Albert King, Otis rush and Dick Dale. What's really strange is that he's actually right-handed normally, but learned to play like this.
