When this story broke, it was stated that Alec Baldwin was not just the actor who accidentally shot the cinematographer, but also the executive producer who selected the armorer and ignored complaints from employees who complained about the inadequate gun safety. In fact, this may not have been the first accidental discharge. Baldwin was the guy at the top. Don't let the media downplay his responsibility because they like his politics.

Let’s not forget that celebrities know damned well they’ll be in the limelight too. Edit: if she really is a ‘brat’ then its pretty obvious her father played a role in that by showing her it’s ok and normal to conduct herself as such-not to mention the trauma of having a parent talk to you like that. She will probably never ever forget those words from the man who should have protected her from such treatment.

It's a movie there's supposed to be blanks in it. So the negligence really goes to the armorer. If trained in the military like I was, you're told "what's the first thing you do if you're handed a weapon?" Answer: You clear it. It was an m-16 so I charged the hadle and fired it at the ground many times. It gets to be a reflex action. I never saw one accident while I served. Now actors are not trained that way. With a pistol, I would have fired it at the ground same way. Thus making sure it's clear. And also not only fire it at the ground, remove the magazine first. No magazine in it and firing it once to clear it. NOw the gun Lamont is talking about, really you remove the cylinder, the 6 shooter cylinder with the bullets and make sure it's empty. Blanks look like bullets too, but the front part is waffled and you would know its a blank. A real bullet looks just like a bullet smooth and to a point. Those would all be removed upon sight.

The black powder, the shrapnel from the percussion cap, and even metal fragments from the casing can be expelled at high velocity. But why in the hell would Alec Baldwin know any of that?

  • @metalmike570

@@lockedonlaw Well when we did some Army training, again it's an m-16 so it's a rifle, but the drill sergeants called it your weapon. Basically (in Basic) you got kids running around with m-16's for some kind of exercise / mission. On the end of the barrel we put a muzzle on it, I think they were painted orange. i wasn't sure the purpose of it but now I realize if it was a bullet in there instead of a blank, it would have to get through that muzzle first and would lose most of it's velocity. It makes sense after what you wrote there, schooled me more. And so on a pistol, a revolver they wouldn't put a muzzle on it because they're making a movie and there probably isn't one for a pistol. I listened a little more to Lamont, he said that Alec Baldwin was also the executive producer of the movie. If the judge wants him to bear / shoulder some of the responsibility or fine the hell out of him he can. And I think that's why the charge went back on him. Also the man has been making movies many years. Some are kind of action movies so he's fired guns with blanks a few times in his career. Another common thing I saw in the Army is the weapons clearing barrel. Before you went into a tent or a chow hall you can fire you weapon into it, it's full of sand. Just to make things safer in that chow hall. They need an ex-military person to be an armorer, because I could have set them straight with safety.

It doesn't nor was any authorized to be present. The armourer didn't take her job seriously, was in over her head and failed to maintain industry protocols. She allowed the guns to be mishandled and didn't secure ammunition. She let live rounds on set & didn't keep track.

As a rule, you never, ever aim a firearm at anything or anyone if you do NOT intend to shoot. Lamont is correct about thinking that a gun is always loaded. However, the person receiving the firearm has a responsibility to check the gun and whether it is loaded. Why was live ammunition on this set? The armorer is irresponsible and negligent. Baldwin, as a producer, hired her. He is responsible.

  • @alflyover4413

I read something about some of the crew taking the prop revolvers on a down day and doing some target shooting. Whoever brought the live ammo on set didn't account for every round, assuming that what I read was factual. And at least one live round was left in the incident gun. Which points to another problem (and makes the reason for Lt. Col. Cooper's first point perfectly clear). Somebody stored a loaded firearm. And somebody else assumed the firearm was not loaded, telling baldwin the gun was not loaded. There was at least four chances to break the chain of causality that led to this shooting: first, the person that brought live ammo on set didn't account for each round; second, the person who put the firearm away once they were done target shooting didn't make sure it was cleared; third, the assistant director never checked to see if the revolver was, in fact, cleared; and fourth, baldwin never checked and cleared the weapon. I've seen it called the "Swiss cheese theory of accidents"; I interpret that as meaning the accident won't occur until all the holes in the slices of Swiss cheese line up. And all it takes is for one slice of cheese to have cheese instead of a hole where the accident is building to prevent that accident.

I completely blame Alec Baldwin. Never, ever, ever, ever, point a gun at somebody without checking for ammo first. The armorer sounded genuinely distraught in that filmclip when she found out that she put real bullets in, not blanks. I don't know why they dont use something like a cap gun cap, that looks very different from a regular bullet. The sound could certainly be put in later. I would never want to see that man again if I were his little 12 yr old girl. Think how traumatic that was. I'm so sorry for Halyna's husband and son, and parents.

Just a kid for an armorer, no experience probably distracted by her phone. It's a movie there's supposed to be blanks in it. So the negligence really goes to the armorer. So should the actor who shot Brandon Lee go to jail to? Look up on KZread how many actors including children have died on a movie set and no one ever went to jail 🙁

@@lucas8095 Baldwin was not prosecuted as the case was dismissed for lack of eveidence against him. The armorer Hannah Reed was found guilty though and sentenced to 18 months in prison in an earlier trial.
