Looks really useful for testing cables like the DIN to RCA; that would take a while using a multimeter and many chances of making a mistake, but with that tester it's a straightforward task to map the cable connections

Absolutely. I hate trying to trace out din cables with the meter. I'm always bumping two pins and things like that

To make it perfect, it would need a serial port tester as well. I know it sounds antiquated, but serial is still the go to connection for industrial applications. And while we're at wishing for things, continuity is nice, but Ohm's law rules us all - and every now and then, it won't be the continuity that fails you but the resistance. So that would be nice, even if you don't integrate a display, just a led vu-meter of sorts so you can spot the pin with the higher value.

Yeah. I still use cereal all the time. I do think it would be kind of fun to make a serial port tester

I have a similar one, I removed the speaker cons, and put some powercon true 1 in it, so these can be modified slightly to put in your unique connectors. BUT these would be great if it also did a resistance check on each line.

Yeah. I could see that. I know the company is developing their next gen units and looking at the comments on this video.

@@AnotherMaker I would like a MODULAr unit, where they make the leds display and selectors test with continuity and resistance, BUT have some attachable BLANK addons/extenders/ports which allow you to add your own connectors. ( with a bit of drilling and soldering)

Funny you should mention that. Made my own silly perfboard device with every kind of 4-wire USB connection just for testing home-made cables. Keeps me out of trouble.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. But you can just throw a couple of cheap adapters in the bag with it.

I just ordered this exact tester for my workplace and it's great! I had a question and couldn't find an answer on their store page. Would it be safe to connect the powerCON to a wall outlet to test continuity? I worry that I might damage the device if I tried this, and I just lack the knowledge to know if this would be safe for the device or if it would simply not affect it.

I don't think I would. I mean you can definitely check with the company but I wouldn't do it without checking with them first.

Does it let you know if a cable is GETTING faulty? Or is a '2 green lights' indicate that the cable is 100%?

We are going to be iterating both hardware and software features. In the beginning it will test primarily continuity but there are plans to to add a lot more features
