This Indiana Rest Area Is A Nightmare // ID Required

For some dumb reason I pulled into one of Indianas worse rest areas to let the German run.

I don’t have a problem with people who don’t speak English in America, but could someone please explain how somebody could pass the written exam to obtain a CDL license if you do not know English? Also how do you read road signs and bills of ladings or converse with shippers??🤷‍♂️ I would be willing to bet they do not even have a license. And that is just down right SCARY!

My dad was a trucker during WW2. That exempted him from the draft. Back in those days, trucks didn't have sleepers or any other amenities. If his truck broke, he had to fix it and then keep trucking. Sometimes when he got home from a run, mother had to help him out of the cab. Truckers wore kidney belts in those days.

I travel back to Waterloo from rural Alabama at night. And I noticed how all the rest areas are full and big trucks block the 4 wheelers side. It's a nightmare. And I can imagine the cluster that will happen when they put governors on trucks. I worked for Crystal Distribution when they had 15 trucks. All we hauled were Tyson and Hormel. Easy loads. Take care up there Kurt

It’s got to be ruff out there now a days on drivers. To many trucks not really any good truck stops anymore and no place to park and everyone is so ignorant to everybody. I feel for ya Kurt. Imagine what driving on the east coast is like. This video really showed how much things have changed. I am glad I don’t drive anymore. Anywho stay sane . Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.

Kurt that is great your kids are wanting to work rather than playing video games all day. I understand your point as well but this is exactly the way mine are as well. My son went straight from high school to the Marine Corp and thanks to the GI Bill is now a supervisor for Western Branch Detroit. My daughter is the manger of 2 AT&T stores, so like you I am a proud dad. I hope your kids will have the chance to go on a couple of short trips with you, one never knows. God Bless and stay safe.

Europe does not have highway rest areas for the general public, just truckers. The trucker rest areas need a card to open the gate and allow a trucker in & it closes behind his truck. These rest areas are HUGE with a couple of hundred parking spots. A building with bathroom, showers, hot & cold drink machines & snack & sandwich machines and tables where a driver can sit & eat or setup his laptop. But of course, you better get there early before it fills up. !

I just ran across your video today and your dog made me have to comment 👍😀♥️🐶. Anyone who makes sure his dog gets his ice cream first has to be a good person 👍😀. Your dog is beautiful. Safe travels to you both. Thanks for all you do and for putting up with the idiots on and off the highway. It's bad enough trying to drive a small car on highways and roads anymore because these fools all think they're race car drivers😠☹️ much less having to deal with them in a semi. Well you and Opie have a new subscriber. Stay safe.

About the idiot drivers, one almost shoved my daughter and me into the path of ongoing semi a couple months ago. If the truck driver hadn't been watching and driving responsibly we could have been seriously hurt or killed. We were waiting at a very short entrance lane during construction on the interstate to merge when a fool in hopped up Dodge Charger came flying up behind us. He literally bumped back of our car trying to shove us out into oncoming traffic that was flying by ...don't know what his huge hurry was. He then swung our around us and then after all that he turned off exit ramp maybe 500 ft down the road. There was a semi coming and had that driver been as irresponsible or crazy like this idiot he would have plowed into us but thankfully he'd seen that guy and got slowed down by some miracle and all was well. We wish we could thank him but he smiled and waved and probably had said a prayer that he wouldn't hit us. I know I was praying a lot. But that's how some idiots "drive" these days. They don't care if they hurt someone or not. I don't know how you truckers can put up with them.

Nussbaum .Tricked out trucks with all sorts of crap on them . Wouldn’t be caught dead in one. Curt if you’re on 74 heading east , try the Farmer City rest area . Opy will love it. I stop there when I can . The greenfield Pilot station is where another driver damaged my truck then denied it when the cop showed up. The camera in the cab doesn’t lie. Oops you’re busted . As a newer driver running that region I just accept the fact that at some point of the night it will be a sh*t show wherever you try to stop. So I generally stop earlier to park . Thortons stations are decent for parking and not being too crazy. Safe travels rubber side down!

I always tried to get in a truck stop before 6 pm. Or it's going to be a long night.

I know all about those Indiana rest stops- the one I hate the most is crossing into Indiana from Danville,I’ll. Wow the parking spaces are to short and the building is very old and needs updating. This is the I-74 rest area. They need to tear it out and start over and expand the parking….

I love it when you have two drivers opposite one another in a rest stop that leave 8 feet of their trailers in the alleyway, guys….please pull forward with everyone else!
