Mostly because this game has the cheapest asset store grade jumpscares with terribly fitted audio that results in a level of jank that is just laughably bad. It kills all the atmosphere, which kills the jumpscares. How can you get scared when the whole thing looks like a horror version of Tommy Wiasou's The Room.

I remember watching this on stream and absolutely LOVING your super quiet whispering voice, because it made the whole experience insanely immersive, cozy, and even comforting. I got a bit worried when I read your comment saying you increased the mic volume because I thought it would ruin everything, but I was pleasantly surprised at the result. While the volume is louder, your voice still has that softness I enjoyed listening to so much. Another amazing work, keep it up ❤

The jump scares aren’t even scary, they’re just annoying, literally 3 in less that 15 seconds Edit: Okay some are pretty funny

The dev should decrease the rate of enemies thrown at you.

Exactly, that’s the problem why this game is getting these negativity, all of these enemies spawning out constantly is killing off the game vibe. The horror environment and intensity gets more dull and everything becomes the same now, like a stale game to the point players aren’t feeling scared playing this anymore, it’s just plain boring now when the players know what’s going to happen because it’s scripted to do the same jump mechanic

This game could be really good if it wasn’t a carbon copy of don’t scream. The jump scares are identical, the falling birds, the spiders, how things run at you and the camera goes all static and they disappear. I’ve played a lot of don’t scream and it’s quite sad to see a different game exactly the same as another one

Indie horror devs do that. A game comes around that redefines the horror genre, and a million slightly different copies show up shortly after. Rinse and repeat every few months, or years.

Great gameplay! Though I was expecting more of this game from the tiktoks I’ve seen, if the jumpscares weren’t so obnoxious and it had a little bit of a more interesting story, combined with the graphics, it would have a great potential 😊

other people who don't play or watch horror games will scream every 20 seconds or something, but we have become souless due to playing and watching horror game, i got a little startled three times. the game is good but not that scary for veteran players

Okay… they DEFINITELY took the exact vocals and line from the Alex Garland film, Men, and ripped it off. “I want to play hide and seek. You hide I seek”. Ripped word for word from that movie. Don’t know if anyone else caught that or not… they just added distortion to it.

I believe that the game teleports you to new location on those little blackouts. Otherwise It would be basically impossible to find all those places by chance, and also there is no way the map is this big. So it is probably just bunch of smaller places you teleport between. Looking at later runs, maybe it is just on the edges of playable area that you get teleported and it is just one location. Not sure,, and don't care, games has no idea how to horror.

This game i think it's made in photosymetry thing. So that's why all around you is so realistic. Only thing I heard it's very hard to do people's faces when you do in this kinda graphics so that's why they were blurred maybe. I love that it looks so much like real life. The moment I heard that stock scream at the start I couldn't take the game seriously. I swear Unreal 5 allows any old game to slap some nice graphics on and trick people into thinking its professional quality.

I was just about to go to bed im not to sure i want to watch a horrer game but here i am th aks insym

it only looks so realistic on epic for 2 reasons. -photogrammetry textures. -everything is prerendered, prebaked and static. the flashlight doesn't even cast shadows. if the game was fully dynamic in things lighting, shadows and reflections, you would see lower fps than in fully pathtraced cyberpunk. everything prerendered, prebaked and static is the same reason why the resident evil 1 remake looked so incredibly good for the time and why the backgrounds in point and click adventures look so much better than the moving characters and interactable objects.

I actually really enjoyed this one compared to Don't Scream. Yeah it's not perfect, and there's some cheap stuff, but it's so much more FUN. There are actual little moments of tension when you encounter one of the Sisters, and you're actually trying to accomplish something, rather than just standing around waiting for jumpscares.
