Wind Raiders

Welcome to another episode of Wind Riders - never again.

DesignerDaves is a Channel with a former WC3 Dev (Dave) who talked about the additional Races. One of them were meant to be the Goblins. Also Farseeer was supposed to be an Air Hero. In the first draft Tauren were plant to be Minotaurs as well.

True, but I remember being disappointed as a kid when I saw that nagas were playable in campaings (with "workers", buildings and everything) but not in regular games

human player did some really good body blocking at 4:42 and 4:48 but naturally grubby still secures a kill, wp on both ends there, fun to see that micro battle

🐶DOG theory here : 15:30 Do you think when dog dream --> They have human in their dream, speaking... meaning the brain of a dog is capable of recreating a human speaking. Or, second hypothesis --> The dream is created outside of the body, by spirit or soul... and the brain in only the radio-receptor of this dream... in order to live the dream from the body... but the brain doesn't create the dream-world itself. Or they just don't dream like us. What do you think?🌭

Is there a reason to position items set above the race you are playing against in some situations? E.g. you had 2 boots for agility, could a blade master perform better in the match?

31:15 For anyone that still plays WC3, I'm curious if DoT is still the meta against orc. And if not, what are the reasons. Of course you wouldn't go DoT against FS, but Grubby just mentioned that Blade is still the meta. Is it because Mirror Images got buffed?

DotTs are still playable on some maps, but I wouldn't say it's the meta anymore. I would say the big reasons for that are a couple of buffs Orc has gotten since the period when we had DotTs every game vs. Orc. Here are the 3 biggest reasons I can think of: 1. Reinforced burrows at T2 - This used to be a big weakness of orc vs. DotTs. Burrows would get shredded by the magic damage because reinforced burrows was locked behind T3 2. Serpent wards were buffed. They were rarely ever used before, but now they are quite good. This means you can still go Shadow Hunter vs. talons, rather than relying on TC, and serpent wards will do a lot vs. the unarmored talons 3. Mirror image was buffed. Another ability that was almost never used before, but now it's quite good. This works well vs. talons because the whole point of talons is to keep enemy heroes in the air the whole fight (especially blademaster). It wastes a lot of mana to try to cyclone multiple potential blademasters. If you instead wait until he does damage to see which is the real one, then he gets a lot more damage uptime than he would otherwise

Main reason is that fortified burrows are now available at t2. The absence of that, along with requirement to sell tp to jumpstart hero stats on Blade, meant you could get rug pulled by burrow wholesale destruction at any time. No longer

Because the individual digits of 111 add up to a multiple of three, in this case three itself, it is indeed not a prime number

He got the single wand of illusion, so pretty much 99% chance it was a fake.

what would happen if you didnt spend first minute of game mining with four peons?wouldnt the bonus gold mined pose bigger advantage than postponing like altar by miniscule single peon training time?

REM sleep is the equvilant of turning it off and on

Grubby, please do the following game: 1. Play as night elf 2. First hero Demon Hunter 3. Second hero Panda 4. Third hero Princess of the moon As Demon Hunter use evasion from the beginning. In addition to this use drunken haze from Panda and no one will be able to touch your Demon Hunter. Then turn on the immolation with Demon Hunter. Princes of the moon as third hero just to give more damage to your range units. I think no one would be able to beat you with these three heroes.

I remember this being a meta at one point. I think NE is currently not at their top form because they couldn't deal with UD, as we know UD relies a lot on their spell damage, so all your evasion stacking aren't useful.

at frame 8:34 when water elemental falls, there is an exclamation point. i've never seen this what does that mean?

the exclamation mark means the unit was killed by an ally unit so it denies the opponent its XP value. In this case, the Footman managed to kill/last hit the Water Elemental so Grubby didn't get any XP

I reckon 6th race could have been Draenei, considering the black temple level.

there could be a reason to practice micro against ai . perhaps not against traditional ai, but ai that is mimicking how humans of various skill levels play

As I remember it, they added the unlimited xp gain range in Frozen Throne, that's right it was all the way back from year 2003.

A more thorough explanation: If you have any heroes within a certain radius of a unit you kill, all the XP from that unit gets split among those heroes in range. If none of your heroes are within range, then it's split equally among them across the map. So if you want to funnel XP to a certain hero, it has to be near the units you kill while the other heroes are far away.

naga wasn't theorized BEFORE FT came out. but people thought it was eventually GOING to be added in... but the balance between 4 races was already too difficult... to add a 5th one in was just too much. even when the had abandoned sc/bw and d2lod completely. all of blizz north's time went towards WoW early days and boom, Activision bought out Blizzard and took a massive corporate dump on all its games...

well AoE all races are typically the same except minor adjustments to eco, what units they can build to counter other units start game, early game, mid game, late game. with gold/stone/lumber/food, all units cost 1 food. with some costing food/wood, gold/food, all kinds of weird combos. with upgrades. and late game you have practically same upgrades. it comes down to who harassed better, who prepared better / micro'd better. some races are still auto-wins against others. and they also have a LOT more maps. a LOT more modes. its too impossible to compare AoE to Wc3... honestly.
