Yeah a lot of ppl dont know the full backstory, Pete was a food standards inspector, and Bas was a piano teacher, they met in a shop while Pete was doing an inspection so I understand and this shop is associated with the YT channel Sindhuworld and ‘Uncle Bal’ the owner of this shop, a lot of their early music was uploaded to this channel. There’s a documentary on YT search ‘Pete and Bas documentary’ it’s the one titled “Oldest Rappers in the World?” By the channel ‘Noisey’.

It’s just kind of arrogant for “rappers” (especially internet rappers, or even rap critics) to think that no one other than rappers have knowledge and feel of rhythm, flow, or even rhyme schemes. I mean hello, poetry? Breath control? Sheet music? Percussion? Like why is it so inconceivable for them (or even this guy in the video), that people who have musical background, or even simply sing and play the piano can come up with rhymes and songs better? Yes, they do write with the help of their grandkids for the modern slang. Bas is a professional musician and songwriter by trade. This is very easy for him. He was also a music teacher for a bit. He plays the piano, sax, the trumpet, accordion, and several other instruments. His true niche is JAZZ. that is why his flow is so smooth. It is like a saxophone solo! It is also the reason Bas has great breath control. Even if they did not write it, they have a HUGE say in what goes into the song, especially with Pete. They have been doing this since 2017. The first video is called 'Shut Your Mouth'. You can hear how unpolished they were back then. No one was around to help them. Over the years they kept at it and got better with each video. I love it when you youngsters are flabbergasted when we old heads can do what you can do, and sometimes better! You keep saying that it does not matter, yet it is obvious it does!😂😂

It does matter. That’s why it gets brought up constantly by reactors. It seems to me like they do write it. If you listen to enough of their music you can clearly tell they each have their own writing style that fits their personality and rapping cadence.

Sometimes I think that rappers forget that "rappers" did not invent rhyming. Humans have been writing poetry since the dawn of time and rap comes from poetry. Anyone who's taken a literature class or spent time writing poetry could figure out how to write raps since they follow all the same rules when it comes to meter, syllables, and rhymes. I just think the incredulity some people react to Pete & Bas with kinda humorous. Like "How could they possible know how to write rhymes? They're old and they found rap music late and life." lol Yeah so what... I'm sure they're well read in the great works of literature/great writers and poets of all time, and I'm damn sure they were much better educated and are extremely literate compared to what gets churned out by public school systems these days. They're also not strangers to the music world so all they really would need help with is modern terms and slang. It comes off as a little bit of hubris to say over and over how you just can't picture them being able to write this shit. You rappers did not invent writing rhymes or even battling lyrically using rhyme (see flytes done by the Scandinavian peoples).

These two amazing and talented artists have something unique and special and no one can come close to their level, at their age, and at a time when audiences are very picky with what rappers put out! They have swagger and appeal to all! Great reaction Anthony ❤🎉

They’re old and really good so everyone defaults to them not writing their own shit. I am convinced at this point they do.

Personally, I believe that they are heavily involved in the WRITING of the lyrics, but have professional help with the cadences and deliveries (although Bas is a proper musician). I becam convinced of this because many of their references are quite old and would go over the head of most peeps under 50 (I'm 60).

Their grandkids helped them with slang when they first started. Now, they get it.. So it's safe to say they write it themselves.

People forget Bass (the tall one) used to be a bare knuckle fighter and A trumpet player, hence his cadence. He knows how to fill the pockets real nice . I noticed he normally have fast , longer and difficult delivery.

I think the whole Sindhu stable of artists have assistance with working with their rhymes but also that they bring themselves to the writing table too. Execution is still dope.

If you go back to their very first songs they ever put out, you can see the progression in they're rapping and their writing.

They write their own lyrics with the help of their grandkids to get some of the current jargon correct. They started late in life, but they (especially Bas) have a history in other genres of music.

They actually have very crazy story, Bass family use to host knuckles fight in their home, and Pete hsed to be in a british mafia , When they got old the grandkids introduce them to rap, They write their own stuff but get help with the slangs from their grandkids.

These gents have easily slipped into my top 10 fav rappers list, and I'm an old hip-hop head from Detroit. The writing and rapping is top tier, you'd be hard pressed to find a bad song of theirs.

The old slang they have that covered already. The Grandkids help out with the new (and I'm pretty sure that one of them is the young guy in this video!)

Does not mean he IS Bas. Power quartet. One pair does old gangster bars, one does young blood bars. They bounce off each other. Not voice disguisers or other overly complex theories.

Sindhuworld Ltd seems to be a small company created by two art school graduates who decided to create viral material a few years ago. After a few false starts it seems they started writing rap stuff, recruited minor actors Peter Way and Basil Preuveneers to perform it. Semi retired. Can't find out much about Mr Way but my research shows Basil is semi retired from his legal business but also fairly musical and from a musical family They seemed to have learned to rap very well and now perform live too and I suspect they collaborate in the writing..so they have had six or seven years practice now. The music and video production is always professional. P&B play the London gangster personas really well..I think it's time the whole team came out of the shadows and took credit.

If I watched movies with two 70 year old actors that consistently give oscar level performances, I'm not going to think less of them if they didn't also write the whole movie. I'm not concerned with who wrote what. they're bringing something that probably no one will ever have the capability to bring again.

Here we have 2 blokes in their 70's, with over 60 years of life experience and yet writing a rap would be too hard...really ?

They're from a generation when it was far more common to learn an instrument, and to learn about music, ntm they were expected to learn more than young rappers when they were in school. Poetry was part of their education no doubt.

I would agree with you Anthony... in the sense that this is all way too polished to be organic. They clearly have talented people behind them... and seeing that many "legit" and "young" rappers use ghost writers, I doubt they are elderly urban poets. That said, they can clearly spit even if they probably aren't writing it all themselves.

Their new track is called GENTLMEN , they also feature on a track called BADDEST

ghostwriting would be difficult with their "old people pronunciation" especially with these rhyme schemes.

My biggest argument is Bas consistently has much smoother cadences and smarter bars than Pete. If someone was writing for them why would they not be more even skill wise.

I'm going to assume they write it themselves for one specific reason; their lyrics don't fit the mind of a younger age demographic. You can get a good ghost writer and even ask that ghost writer to use a certain group of words but if you look at the words and the mental visuals around the words I would expect them to come from a much older mind. One example is their line from another song about wrapping a body in a Persian. That's not the visuals or language of someone even as old as the average older rapper e.g. 50 Cent, Snoop Dog, Dr, Dre etc. Simply put if a younger man sang these words and tried to tell me it was theirs I wouldn't believe them because a younger mind does not think in those patterns or visuals.

You can't believe they are able to write at this skill level? They have been at this for 7 years now. Go watch shut your mouth and if it's believable they could have written that then this 7 years later is possible.

I'm sure you seen it by now hopefully but as everybody else is saying they do write the stuff but they definitely get help from the grandchildren. One of them or both of them I can't remember has a grandson that is a music producer. I believe in a lot of their earlier stuff, one of the grandkids is the one filming them and stuff like that. Pete said in an interview or maybe more than one that his granddaughter would have to drive him around and she likes to listen to rap music and he would always change it to something else when he would be in the car and waiting for her but one day he decided to listen to it and he said he liked it and by that time he was friends with Bas. They didn't become friends until they were retired, pretty much and Bas is very talented musically in multiple areas and you can tell a lot more in their earlier music but Pete has been a quick study because every time they drop a new song he gets better and better. It's been great to watch him progress and get more confident over the years and then to see him overcome skin cancer recently, the man is amazing and to have the support from his friends the way he does is great to see too. Overall they're amazing lol and even if some folks think it's a gimmick just listening to them till their stories has been so fun and it's like watching your own grandparents or uncles do this.

This is why you wont ever get anywhere as a rapper. You think that just because you can't do something it means others aren't capable. You lack common sense. You need to realise that tempo and flow is in all genres of music and not only are these two using different unique flows in each song but their lyrics are intricate and combines old references and popular culture with new ones. You're a one dimensional wannabe who can't deal with someone else having success. If I was you, I would be dissecting their work and trying to see what could work for you but instead you just hate and keep yourself limited to your one flow that hasn't got you anywhere Also listen to their earlier work like Dents in a peugeot and Shut ya mouth and try tell me that they haven't been improving.
