Just recently checked out DRIVE MY CAR on Criterion; personally, it's one of my new favorites. It's one of the rare 3 Hour films that's really more about the "Stillness" of characters, which left me far more impressed I never got bored as I can rarely watch 3 Hours straightforward anymore.

It was SO good.. I loved “Men Without Women”, but this film never came across my radar until very recently. Watching the film is a truly “mesmerizing” experience, as you said.

Burning is one of the best films of the past 5 years, full stop. It's very underrated, imo; thought it was far superior to Parasite.

It's hard to compare the films, but I agree Burning was unfairly ignored!

@@ABooktubeChannel I had no idea burning was based on Murakami, just found and watched it, but that's cool and interesting

I think 3 stories instead of just 2 are included in this movie. Apart from Scheherazade and Drive My Car which you have mentioned, there's also another one known as Kino which is present in the same short story collection Men Without Women.

I never considered Kino, are you making the connection because of the adultery? Maybe I missed something!
