The only recurring criticism I hear of the GT86 is along the lines of "You won't win any drag races with it" So what? A drag race is the most boring thing you can do in a car and barely counts as driving.

+Explorer James technically i think the Aero version of the GT86 is very ricey but it has a unique character to it. The GT86 is a very unique car not many cars is like it for the price, you have to drive one to fully understand it the steering is very sharp , direct and the car just dances on country roads. i quote: warning driving on country roads in this car makes you have so much fun you won't actually know you're going very fast and you'll leave your cruising buddy in dust. well i hope your type of car culture doesn't involve stancing! stancing this car is such a waste, i tell you you're basically taking away... how can i put this.... the chocolate center from a eclairs sweet haha (The Best Parts). and now you understand that not many American's like this car, as most roads in america are straight. (Insert hate comment here)

This video hits so hard! I'd totally forgotten about it. I originally had a 2000 Honda Civic Ek Hatch as my first car which I'd always thought I'd keep until I first laid eyes on the GT86 in 2013 on a trip to Japan and it was love at first sight. I then worked and saved for just over 2 years and brought an Orange 2013 GTS in 2016. I would watch this video all the time and dream about what my 86 would be like before I brought it. I have recently added a turbo kit to mine in October 2018 and absolutely love it. I have also added wider wheels, tires, coil-overs and various other performance and aesthetic mods to the car. Seeing this video again makes me smile.

IMO going 70 around a turn with the wheels about to lose grip and then exiting the turn just as they finally give out to give you that little slide will always and everyday be more exciting than going fast in a straight line.

I can't drive yet, but I really enjoy listening to people who have this kind of passion about cars. I've been into cars since I was very young, mostly Japanese and Italian marques. I've seen a couple GT86s in the UK and they look stunning in person. 270HP is what the car should have had, but I think that Toyota (And Subaru maybe) maybe intended the car to be a good, simple platform for mods. Perhaps they designed the chassis with those tolerances in mind. Awesome car, great video.

How can you say the car should of had 270bhp if you can't drive yet. Surely until you have driven it yourself you have no idea how the power is now and how much more you think it would need? All of these people shouting out for more power and for what reason? You hear someone say it's not enough and assume they must be right whereas a few years back 200bhp would be fine. I think people need to actually drive the car before commenting on it!

I've been into cars since I said my first word which was car. I like mostly Euros and Japanese cars, then when I started driving my dad had a 1998 Subaru outback with almost bald Michelin hydroedges on it. Ever since the first time I drove fast on a back road I've gone crazy over wanting a Subaru. He got a new car since then, but someday I'm going to find a 98 Outback with a body in good shape. Once I have it I am going to lower it to just under Legacy ride hight. Then I'm going to get an STI engine and transmission, diffs and a driveshaft that will fit. Get STI brakes suspension. From what I could tell the chassis was just begging for more then 175hp so I would get an aftermarket turbo and intercooler and remap the ecu, and make custom exhaust for the car. Then I would paint it green and grey just like the one I learned to drive in. Hopefully I could get around 400-450hp out of the engine.

a wise german dude said about this car: it's not about how fast that car can go, it#s about how the car behaives when it's going fast. and i think that's exactly what the gt86 is about. this balance between power and control might be one of the best cars currently. i mean when you go to bmw or something like this you might have to pay half of an gt86 for a locked differential :D

According to an estimate by the British office of national statistics, there were around 34,000 people of Japanese descent living in the UK in 2009. I was surprised to find the number was so small, but some people in the comments section seem amazed that even ONE person fits into this category, instead of slotting neatly in their stereotyped pigeonhole. Well, prepare to be utterly ASTOUNDED, as there are at least 33,999 other chances for you to have your tiny little minds blown.

A 25k dollar car that delivers more fun than you can get out of most cars now days but then again, people like you look at price tags as a means to enjoyment... You're saying if they overpriced the car it would be more acceptable for him to own? That just seems ignorant

I test drove both a GT86 and the Mustang Ecoboost recently when thinking about buying a new car. They both come in pretty much around the same price point but I enjoyed the overall feel of the Ecoboost more so... that's where I put my monies.

Sam Corson They'll come down, especially ones that have been driven hard and need new suspension bits. A press is cheap, so's a torque wrench. Start pricing polyurethane now. That Boxer will probably run forever.

Dankarlpang it's the rear seat. Technically, a 4 passenger vehicle is no longer a sports car. I defy you to get anyone other than a double amputee back there AND comfortable, though.
