This Happens EVERY Night in Kathmandu, Nepal! 🇳🇵
Kathmandu, Nepal is a rich and diverse city full of many different types of people with different beliefs. In today's video we are going to be exploring two different temples that celebrate two different religions, Buddhism and Hinduism, to experience two different sides of the culture here in Nepal. A long the way we meet some lovely locals, get caught in a festival parade, witness one the most amazing Hindu ceremonies and even speak to a real Yogi.

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well 😊Trying my best to get these videos out for you as quickly as possible! I am sure there is probably some missing information and possible wrong information (Hopefully not) in this video, so please feel to correct me or provide more information in the comments 😁 There is only so much I can research and remember, after all these videos are primarily entertainment and not supposed to be super informative. Either way I hope you all enjoy it and it gives you an insight into the culture of Nepal. Look forward to reading you lovely comments as always. Much Love ❤

Please be sure, baudhanath stupa wasn't built by tibetan king, but was built lichavi king of nepal, why would tibetan king come to kathmabdu amd build such large stupa instead of building in tibst. The stupa was originally known as "khasti mahachaitya". Khasu means dew and ti means drop in newari language, becaiuse time when the stupa build, the place was hit by drougjt and stupa was made by collecting dew drop. The stupa was renamed as baudhanarh by king Mahendra.

@@TheJourneyofJosh it was built much before tsongsten gampo. this stupa is completely newari style and not tibetan style. it is just that lots of tibetan refugee start to settle here and made it feel like it was built by tibetan king. before tsongsten gampo, tibetan don't have much influence of buddhism, after him marryin with nepali buddhist princess bhrikuti devi and chinese buddhist princess, the tibet start have buddhist influence,

Hi Josh, just correcting the fact that Boudhanath, originally called Khasti Chaitya was built by Lichchhavi king Vrisadeva and not by a Tibetan king
That fire in the temple beside you was a cremation happening in the temple. It is believed if you are cremated in pashupatinath, you would get away with the continuous cycle of rebirth and get salvation and inner peace.
Josh in pashupatinath temple. You're sitting near river.and big fire 🔥. Bro it's dead body burning. U don't realize be careful next time .u should ask local.

Hello josh, I hope you are having a good time in Nepal. As you have got many comments/information about Boudhanath Stupa, let me tell you something about the arti ceremony. The huge fires you see are bodies being cremated as Pashupatinath is a very important and holy temple for hindus so people who passed away if they are cremated in the vicinity of Lord Pashupatinath it is said that their soul will either recieve mukti or they will not be reincarnated as animals and will be born as a human their next life. Also as Lord Shiva is considered a deity of arts, music and dance as well (nataraja a avatar of lord shiva is said to perform a dance to end the world) so yes those women dancing were in a trance state. These are things that i know as i am not a guru i also might not have the correct information according to the sastras, i just told you what i have heard since my childhood. Again i hope you have an amazing time in my beautiful country, have fun mate.
Hey josh the fire near was the dead person being cremated. so you also watched the Hindu Cremation.

You can't find difference between Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal, especially in Kathmandu. Both religions have syncretized in a unique way that even anthropologists can barely describe. You can find Hindus praying at Bouddhanath and Buddhists at Pashupatinath with zero regard for their personal religious beliefs. We don't differentiate between Hinduism and Buddhism, both are equally important for us.
