Today we are looking at someone who quite frankly has the worst attitude I have ever seen on iRacing. I hate it when fast drivers look down on others

An unfortunate problem I see in Iracing lately is people dont race smart. I tend to race the IMSA mixed class races and cant tell you how any times I have been rear ended by an LMP while driving a GT3 because people overdrive their cars. (I drive all 3 classes on any given week). Then somehow it your fault because THEY aren't driving intelligently. There is very little risk to drive too aggressively... no risk of injury being a SIM, no risk of cost being a SIM. SO they toss it all in because they feel entitled and just dont care. Racing clean takes a ton of skill, gaining irating requires a ton of luck on top of skill. In your event... his arguments were illogical and childish... he's just mad because you had passed him (from the replay looked beautiful and clean) and then the car behind you tied him up so he was double pissed. Then in his red rage to get back at you got caught up in the mess. So obviously it was all your fault. ;) Had he been paying attention and not so target focused he'd likely have been able to avoid it all. But that's just me armchair quarterbacking.

When i do races in rfactor on a private league in a 400bhp+ ginetta g55 you need to be patient wait for clear space stay get back up to speed but leave room for others to pass.

Saying youre "faster" when you keep losing position is the most petulant shit. I don't even know why I'm seeing this video I don't watch these types of videos. However, I rewatched that part and you're right. Ollie saw smoke and even said "Wow what's that" and you can hear him still on the gas through all the turns and still on the gas into the sideways guy. The sideways guy may not even have been able to reverse in time in the first place. And for sure Ollie couldn't have thought way back when he saw the smoke "Ah well that guy will just reverse out of the way". He should've been more defensive and he wasn't so I'd say it's not first guy's fault. And also the other guy wasn't even being that bad. Just being a competitive asshole kinda guy.

IR and SR can be misleading, especially around the 2k - 3k range. I lost nearly 600 irating in a few races of getting punted. I then needed a few races of rebuilding my SR and sacrificed qualifying. The stopwatch in any given race is the best indicator of a driver's pace. Not their current stats.

Not judging anyone here but in a race scenario, when you are in a blue flag situation and see dust whirling up two corners ahead shouldn’t you expect a yellow and get off the throttle ? Looking at your inputs you did not brake when the incident happened. It may not have changed anything with the pack behind but you may have managed to avoid the collision. Not sure there was time but from your reaction and what I see on screen there was advanced warning that something was happening ahead.

I find it deeply frustrating to catch up to people because I've got superior pace and then get stuck behind them but I don't get angry at them for being 'slow', I get frustrated with myself for not being able to get past and stay ahead. The problem is entirely of my own making and I accept that, I try to get better at dealing with other cars so I can use my pace better but it's never the other drivers fault that I'm being slowed down by them.

I had a set to once a few years ago with a notable Finn, who spent lap after lap at Monza telling me I shouldn’t be defending against him, because we both know he is faster than I am and that my racing him is only costing us both time. It’s a very odd attitude. I can understand that logic completely in an endurance race and if we had been racing at the Daytona 24hr I would most definitely have let him go, without even needing to be asked, but in a limited time race with what, 30 minutes or an hour in total duration, no way.

Total agree Ollie, I only play GT Sport but have had a similar story, being dissed due to me rating (which is a B/S). IMO rating doesn't mean much in Gran Turismo with it's broken penalty system. I know I'm not the fastest but expect a good clean race none the less. However, if I am racing against someone that is obviously faster, I will make it fairly easy for them to get past then try follow them to learn how to improve. Show respect and respect shall be given.

I know you're mad in the 2:30 incident but being on the voice channel like that doesn't reflect well either. It's a genuine and appropriate reaction, but people who don't watch this video could have the same perspective of you that you/we have of Riccardo and that's only because you were talking in the voice chat. Less is more and apologies are always welcome. We all know you'll put this one behind you and keep going so cheers for the update and thanks for the carnage (it could always be worse).

There is a difference in that his heated reaction was indeed heated but it contained, a what was that. Or question style statements. Not an entitlement type statements like Ricardo's people will understand the frustration, but not be ok with the type of text Ricardo sent. So I fully disagree on that the voice chat reflects badly on Ollie. It reflects on his humanity yes, and I believe it's also sharp to try and keep out the swearing, which was merely veiled attempts at not swearing. I get that you're not using the actual word but swearing is more than just saying the f word exactly as it's written. And kids will still pick up on that. However the context doesn't reflect badly, since as I stated it was in the form of questions.

I would agree with the thought process behind it, when looked at it at face value. If someone is noticeably quicker then you it makes sense to let him pass instead of fighting and losing time to the guys around you. However, within this context it was absolutely sensible for you to fight for that position as there’s no way to fight back to p2/p3, and you’ve already got others trailing closely. So the ‘losing time’ factor is negligible in this scenario and you attacking him and even forcing him to fight the car behind can give you enough time to pull a considerable gap, not to mention you not challenging into that chicane would’ve left the door wide open for the guy behind. On another note, I’ve had a lot of instances of pulling in half a second or more to someone ahead who then proceeds to fight for his life to defend and ultimately make us lose multiple seconds to cars behind or close ahead where just yielding to the faster car would literally be the best outcome for both in the long run

Rule of thumb in sim racing no matter the class is if you spin on the racing line you make an effort to get off, stay out of other competitors ways (even if that means reversing into the grass) and waiting for traffic to clear to get back on the track even then staying out of the racing line if the leaders are coming up (again rule of thumb but more common curtesy.) This guy clearly does not know that.

I had a race at Watkins Glen. The guy behind was quicker than me so on the straight I moved as far left as I could he had the whole width of track to pass me. But he came right along side me and tried to push me in the wall. But he came unstuck and spun smashing his car up But according to him that was my fault. I guess some people are just idiots

funny thing is, it's two separate topics in one. Ricardo thought he was faster and rages long before the accident, I think he then rages more as the crash happened. he don't understand racing. Had a similar situation in ESS at Watkins as a gte drove in the middle of the road, not being predictable and we came with p2/3/4 in an lmdh fight. as he crashes with P4, he shouted on everyone of us because he was the slower class and can drive where he wants. sometimes the understanding of people is weird, but I think the next day they will see it different. See you on track

I'd ask the same question you asked him but from his perspective. "If you are faster then how did I pass you?" Might give him more to think about than asking why he is not passing you. Instead of asking why he is not gaining the position, why did he lose it multiple times to you. Just food for thought on maybe how to handle that attitude in the future but I doubt anything will change the mind of someone like this but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Passing is a part of race craft. If he was faster, he would have been able to pass you, and when he was in front of you he would have driven away. But unfortunately his race craft isn’t good enough to set you up and pass you.

Sometimes they even put you out deliberately or insult you because you have been able to overtake them or did a clean defense on them. And yes the main excuse they always put out is " am faster than you" then if so why you behind me in the race. I had a race once where dude would tell everyone in the entire lobby where they were fucking up because " his spotter said it" and would get angry when anyone did anything his spotter didnt like. It was a cringe fest. most of the lobby was pretty vocal about him. He crashed lap 3 totally his fault, wrecked half the field, and kept talking as if he had any reason to. story time over. I dont think youre missing anything at all, that dude was just a whiny boi. sad but its pretty normal, esp at lower ranks...
