The guy who played Larry deserves an Emmy. The book is called IN WITH THE DEVIL by JAMES KEENE. I think the subplot with the guard blackmailing him was added for the show. I found it completely unnecessary. Jimmy would have told Lauren about the guard and the FBI would see to it that he never entered the prison - or any other prison - ever again.

I googled it. You are right. Keene didn't mention it in his book because it never happened. Many other parts are exaggerated for drama. As a whole, its mostly true. (from my research anyway) Can't put my finger on it but Keene just seems not to be trusted. I see narcissism.

I could maybe believe everything else happening in this movie. But the one ridiculous thing that would never fly, especially if the detectives know about it. Is that jail guard trying to blackmail and extort the main guy, potentially ruining an extremely important murder case. Not only would they have fired him, but he'd be arrested indicted on blackmail and extortion charges, and potentially interfering in a murder case. Considering the lady detective already knows about it? At that point anything realistic just flew right out the window.

Is it really that hard to believe that police and correction officers don't get the same treatment as other citizens? That they get a pass, like being able to resign, unless they are caught on video that gets leaked to the public which only then forces their colleagues to slap them with charges? It's pretty naive to think there is no corruption in the system, all the way up to the top.

The prison guard is just hollywood prop that didn't happened in real life.

Dude’s getting played by the DA real hard and should have talked to his lawyer. He gets more time than he was told with the plea deal because the DA is trying to punish him for something he’s not involved in. Then the DA dangles a carrot offering promises to the guy like his word means anything anymore while using the extra time spent in jail as leverage to get the protagonist to willingly spend time in a worse prison aka extra punishment with no guarantee of reward.

Jimmy Keene is indeed very rich, able to procure a non-existent AK-48 rifle.

I’m guessing that the bodies are buried either in the cemetery they worked at or they removed the bones of old coffins and replaced the bodies with victims- I’d guess that the brother and father was involved . If no one figured that out already they just weren’t trying.

Its not only easy to do, but thats if you don't use an already excavated plot. It would literally be about timing. Believe it or not. but your comment (although wrong) does highlight another variable to WHY the victims may be in the grave. If the father and sons timed the killings and abductions around the time of a local death/obituary , they would then have the perfect opportunity to bury the victim in a shallow grave and the bottom of an already dug grave. You're like Watson to my Sherlock. Elementary.

I tried watching this show, but the FBI agent was cringe and super annoying

Its possible that the brother or father was involved but all the attention was easily focused on his "black sheep" brother. Yet the brothers didn't seem to trust each other. If the father saw the map, he must have known but it was worse to have the bodies found than leave his son in jail and his confessions suspect without hard evidence

The writing is so weak, it's full of plot holes, poor logic reasoning connections and extra things (that make no sense in their continual presence) like the blackmailing guard. All to create drama but instead it results in an incredulous rolling of the eyes. so glad I did not watch this.

I don't know if yall are just being silly or not, but yall know that there are several permit to purchase states in the US? That means if you don't have the proper permit to purchase the item in the store, you cannot own it. If it is given to you, that's different. The implication according to the scene is that he did not have the proper documentation for the purchase of his weapons.

This could’ve been the son of Tommy Vercetti having a double life and is exposed to it. That disappointed his old man because seeing his son as two faced reminded him of the worst people he encountered. Sonny Forelli and Lance Vance. Two guys he thought were his friends until they backstabbed him. To his personal code there, he doesn’t want two face people in his life. But Eggsy is a military officer who also deals in illegal drugs and weapons trafficking. However, his arrest would get the attention of Sting Ray. A serial killer who hung with teenagers. But never harassed them or harmed them. But the only reason he’s in prison was because he committed murder on a few criminals. Some who are degenerates of society. Eggsy survives prison time but he heard the news that his dad Tommy isn’t living longer than realized. That he must make amends with his son and his son must make amends to get out of prison. Even old man Ken Rosenberg would try his best to get him off prison early. Tommy reflects his old age and life by going to new liberty city. Seeing Portland one last time. And then Tropic City. But not all goes well for Eggsy. He does see Tommy being too nearly dead to help out. But Tommy passes out on a prison visitors room. Ambulance come but Tommy unfortunately passes away. Eggsy is saddened by this loss. A death of a tropic city criminal legend. A man who was hardened by betrayal becomes a boss only for love and care to soften him and soon betrayal by his son’s lifestyle exposes the weakness to the open and ends the legend. Eggsy does discover a loop in the legal system and also cobra Kai students discovered more horrible crimes of sting ray that it leaks to Eggsy. That he convinces the warden of his cellmate the worst crimes being exposed and that he asks for a lesser sentence. Even Ken find out about the wardens vices and that this would cause a scandal and of course there’s dirt on the United anti terrorism coalition members. That Eggsy uses to gain freedom from prison. He would handle the operation without the need of task force soldiers as he knows their tactics. And dealing with their dirty work in eliminating corrupt UAC members, he does get a pardon from prison. Also Ken and the UAC spin the release of Tommy son as some release from exposing sting rays horrible crimes to the public. Eggsy does see his old man’s funeral. Makes amends one last time before returning to the UAC as a new task force member. But he must leave his side hustle drug and arms trafficking from now on to avoid prison time again. However in 2023, Muckton UK would get hit by sarin gas attack and C4 explosions in central Muckton and they caused some building demolitions that Ken Rosenberg was in one building and that building collapsed and he died in the building collapse. Eggsy felt mourning and anger at the loss of his old man’s friend. Another Tropic city legend gone. And Eggsy will avenge those who were lost by Kostovs terror attack. He joins Ramirez roguish faction of TF 141 as they don’t play just dirty but with no mercy to their targets.
