Note that this game is completely free. People wanted to donate, but dev refused donations, wanted the game to be purely a passion project without any hint of monetary benefit. Game is amazing, I'd say better than Vampire survivors. Only comment is that it's somewhat easy, though there is an item roll that makes the game harder, and you can limit powerups.

The easiness of the game is so the girls of any skill can enjoy the normal stages and challenge themselves on FF14 boss mechanics the dev adds to hard stages. It is a perfect blend of having playable but optional challenge.

The hard stages later on are actually, well, hard lol. Obviously the first few stages aren't going to be the most difficult. Although, even in the first stages you can die if you're not paying attention. The difficulty complaint is just flat out wrong, specially in this new update

I don't think they would be allowed to make money off the game in any way without Cover Corp's permission and they'd likely want a cut of it, so it's better off free. It just means updates might be slower.

@@DexLuther The main reason is the dev wants to keep it his hobby, not another work project. Cover has been in contact with him and offered deals about monetizing it. The dev also works with Cover Corp on many other projects.

Yes you don't need to know to enjoy, I will give you an exemple. When the Resident Evil movie came out many people didn't know this movie came from a video game and it became a huge success for years and even after years of people watch a good portion still didn't knew its origins. =) This game imo it's the first free game very well made and we know it won't ever be monetized due to Cover restriction (Cover is the company behind Hololive and Holostars), so expect a bunch of updates for a few years for free in this game =)

I believe "vampire survivor like" to be a lil offensive to all the other games and devs of them before that one. We could all just call it the survivor genre, no? Tbh, i found THE best survivor game (for me & next to brotato) some time before Vampire survivor. It is a mobile game, which may sound unbelievable to be better to some. But i like every single idea regarding the game ever since and often dreamt about an adaptation (anime or tv- /vod series) of it. The name is (!) "Magic Survivor" (!) and the changes they made after the boom are very nice, so it's still very good! Only leveling up classes has a different kind of grind to it, now. Because P2W is a thing for that now. It isn't actual p2w, i know. But i could get that classes to max level like a thousand times faster with a lil investment.

As a Hololive fan and Asmon fan, this stream is amazing. "Plug type ass coco? I don't think I want that." 🤣

It's actually impressive how vampire survivors and all of its clones are such a great representation of how inspiration in both mechanics and gameplay loops can evolve into games that feel the same, yet different simultaneously. A plain copy is boring, but a copy with a twist can make you appreciate both the original and the copy at the same time equally. Like doom vs duke nukem or quake vs unreal. Same but different and both great.

@@sixbases6793 They're both in Mythic Talent. Which isn't really the only agency Asmon's part of and is an interesting case in general. But they're definitely both in it. Mind you a lot of vtubers are in Mythic Talent so it's not really anything special.

It was the increased damage from the face mask and the decreased HP max from the energy drink that turned him into glass at the end there. A debuff that makes you take 30% extra damage stacked on top of a debuff that decreases your max HP by 20% while fighting enemies you are under-leveled for is a huge kick in the nuts.

Yeah, he went full glass cannon there. His damage was actually really good thanks to those two items, but you're not _meant_ to break through those wall enemies, you're supposed to navigate around them. He also didn't have access to the Kusogaki Shackles yet, which offsets the negative effects of these high-risk/high-reward items. I think the slow effect from the rice balls also kinda screwed him, since those walls are supposed to be straight so you can strafe up and down through them, but because some were slowed while others weren't, they ended up staggered, closing the gaps in the following wall formation that you're intended to squeeze through.

​@@MeriliremShe's pretty simple tho, she gives constant healing from food drops and a huge ATK, SPD, and Crit buff as long as she's eating any food, which she should be cuz her skills drop more food. She's a good all-rounder that can be either glass cannon or tank.

As others have said, the BGMs are all remixes of the Hololive talents' original songs. Hololive Production the group is technically an Idol group (I say technically because they mostly stream, and their behaviours are usually "not very idol" like, which has spawned several jokes about it). I also said 'Hololive Production' because it's there's actually HoloLive (which is all girls) and HoloStars (all boys), which both fall under the umbrella of Hololive Production, which is owned by the company COVER.

​@Gakusangi let's not forget Myth or Treat on the hard Halloween stage. I still can't believe that Amelia pooled fan creators to make the video and that Calli came up with the song's lyrics in one night after downing half a bottle of vodka.

HoloCure really strikes differently. Not only is it free, but it's one of the only developers I have seen that fully polished everything that got added instead of just adding a ton of stuff that is 10-20% done. Not saying everyone and everything anyone added in games was only 10-20% done, but especially in early releases this was common. Here, you can feel the heart that is put into the game and the dev earns nothing from it monetary wise. Huge respect to Kay.

This game started as a silly little fan project directly inspired by Vampire Survivors, and eventually grew in size and scope so much that Vampire Survivors started taking cues from it. Been a treat to see as someone who's been playing since jump street (the initial release on Itchio was over a year ago).

Better version of vampire survivor, seems to go the extra mile on features and the music is actually remixed from official hololive songs. Genuinely a fun game so I’m glad asmongold played it

Kind of unfortunate that he didn't read more of Okayu's abilities and skills. If he had learned that she could eat any of the non-boss enemies with her special, he wouldn't have died at the end there. Oh well, glad to see that he enjoyed the game at least. :-)

Hell yeah. I played this because I played Vampire Survivors (because of Asmon and Nate) and because it was free. I was having a really fun time. I'd say even more fun even though Vampire Survivors is designed better in general. Anyway after the 0.6 update I instantly bought all new characters (up to G21), upgrades and skins and now I'm working on maxing their fandom again. Didn't finish a lot of em because I just started recently

This game impressed me from it's first release version that my friend sent me, I couldn't believe the quality of this fan game made by only 2 people. It's artist/programmer Kay Yu is extremely talented, I can't believe he did so much work for free from what I understand

the upgrades with a star in the corner of their pictures are "skills", they're unique to each character and they're supposed to make up that character's basic playstyle.

I cannot unsee the boogie skeletons with their little jazzercise headbands, they will haunt my dreams forever

Even having been down the Hololive hole for a couple years now, I'm still always amazed at just how talented the fan community is. From all the clip animators to the game creators. Usually when you hear "fan game" you kinda shrug it off, but Holocure, that fighting game, and the two Tsugu no Hi games are all legit good stuff. And yes, it still weirds me out when someone crosses the streams and I see something like Asmon playing a Hololive game, lol.

Not the first time though, I remember seeing those compilations of Asmon reacting to videos from years ago, where sometimes Hololive vtubers would sneak in (Fubuki and Korone iirc). Asmon would react with pure disgust to those, oh how times have changed.

Wow, his first run was very good. He got a collab, a super item, and even a 3 drop, and he won.

HoloCure is an incredible fangame, Kay Yu is an absolute legend. It has the most insane endgame of any Survivors game I've played, and the character and stage design are crazy, crazy good. And fishing is like crack.

I really underestimated the fishing, used a friend's pc when we were hanging out, ended up still playing it even when my friends told me it's time to go.

I loved VS so much and spammed it in so many places for hololive to play. To see a game made for them and getting all these lore and updates made real time is part of the true love I will always have for hololive. Thanks for playing and thanks everyone who makes hololive so magical.

Ngl after watching Asmon (for god knows how long now) I love this arc of him playing other games, he genuinely looks so much happier!

Started playing Holocure right after I watched this video. I don't even know any of these characters, but it's genuinely a great game. It's absolutely bonkers that this game is 100% free, and the creator isn't linking to anything. Anyone know if there's a Patreon/Ko-fi/anything??

Creator Kay yu intends to not monetize this in any way at all since he wants it to remain a passion project. He is a freelance animator, who actually worked on some popular anime in the past, so he isnt hurting for money. I agree though its nuts the quality he put into it.

He doesn't want to receive donation of any kind. That said he worked in animation + game industry so you can (as an example) buy stuffs like River City Girls for example, which iirc also has his sprite works.

There are lots of clips and streams of the girls playing the game themselves...

I downloaded this game when I started watching this video. It is now 5am.

The first level is really quite easy, but the ones after are definitely harder to deal with. Also the onigiri attack looks underwhelming but it's a massive damage-dealer on bosses when fully upgraded because they multihit when thrown up.

Not to mention this is a fan game, its amazing ive spent an unholy amount of hours into this game and it was 100% worth it

Vampire Survivors could take a few notes about how this game handles different playable characters, each one feels like way more than just a different starting weapon

The way he called Plug-Type Asacoco as "Asscoco" gives me giggles

I would genuinely love to see asmondgolds reaction to seeing all of the hololive vtubers from clips alone

knowing a ton of the reference here really does feel like this game is made by fans for fans

This is the best vampire survivors clone. It's going to be really hard for people to top this one

lol the slow effect on Okayu's onigiri screwed him at the end. He could have popped his ult but he's still getting used to everything.

I only spent a few hours playing Vampire Survivors and thinking it was not for me. BUT then I tried Holocure and maaan it's so good

I’ve been waiting for Asmon to play Holocure! Lol, seems like he had fun.

We might never get him to play Genshin but he has now played Holocure which is a big victory. In defense of his second run, Okayu is a little hard to use and he was missing stat upgrades.

Unironically the best Vampire Survivors type.

Asmon does so much react content, that it took me 45 seconds to realise he was actually playing the game

I just wanna see him play more and maybe find out which character would be his favorite. It's quite the roster after all.
