The real villain is Miss Kate for allowing Emily to be a toxic leader of the studio, which forced Riley and James to recruit Michelle to take down Emily. If Miss Kate put Emily in her place, then none of the drama would have happened. Then again, there wouldn't be much of a show without the drama.

Miss Kate was such a horrible teacher. She was so hard on Chloe for not getting all the money for regionals, but was like MEAN about it. Like how can you be so ignorant when working with kids? Clearly Chloe had something going on behind the scenes. And also like you said, she wasn’t really present at the studio. Re watching the show made me realize how much miss Kate sucked

And then in season 6 she wanted to sell The Next step for "doing the studio good"... I never understood her. Then in the first season I had a lot of disorganization, and in season 3 everything was under control.

I swear Emily is in the top ten Characters who could defeat Thanos with all six Infinity Stones.

@@sararadley5702 my friend does dance and she's has competed against alot of studios that are bratty or in modern day words 'toxic' they can be very manipulative, excluding and alot of bullying does go on. Tns wanted to show this but 'family channel' didn't agree. I guess that's OK as it's a kid show but if it was more for older teens we could've expected alot of seasons like s1.

I totally get where you're coming from with Jiley. I use to LOVE them together but as I've gotten older, I can see what you mean about being polar opposites and Riley losing some of her characteristics over time. BUT to play devils advocate for a ship I did love lmao, I think as they get older James sort of chills out a bit and also takes on some of Riley's better character traits, whereas Riley learns to relax and joke around more - and they end up complimenting each other pretty well by the time they "graduate" (minus the whole he cheats and then she cheats thing cause that was annoying and put there for drama) IMO I think they did need that break as some point to find themselves and grow as their own, but I think they would of made it back to each other as they got older

** I want to add that I don't think Britt is "wrong" for her own interpretation of Jiley, cause I think honestly they sit at a very fine line between will they won't they. They're fictional. they can be written and be interpreted in any way depending on who's viewing their story. Britt's right, they could have been totally toxic to each other, but I'd like to believe they overcame their flaws and grew together to balance each other out lol.

Rewatching the show, I have to say Lucien is actually a better studio head. Yeah he was a bit bizarre but he would actually take control instead of letting the dancers sort it amongst themselves

I love when you go into the characters' psychology - I never realised that Riley is actually so similar to Emily! And the idea that Emily has dirt on Ms Kate is GENIUS

season 1-3 is and will always be the most ICONIC seasons in TNS

The “previously on the next step” has just been upgraded✨ ‘the bar is set so high you can see it anymore’

her personality is the just so perfect and her comedy is gold I love Britt

idk if you know this but with all the comments you give to your younger self you're helping to all of us that want to be actors, is so cool to get an advice from someone you love and admire so much

regionals is right around the corner in literally every episode 😂

I think it's true that Jiley changes Riley but it also changes James because it makes him learn to actually care about things. I think the whole arc for both of them is that they can learn from eachother and can help the other improve on their "weaknesses" to become a more well-rounded individual rather than completely "up-tight" or "nonchalant". The show clearly shows the extreme of both characters personalities but that makes good television whereas in reality i feel it'd be less of a long transition. Sorry for the rant that's just my take on Jiley! :D

I think Britt's version of the title sequence should be the official TNS title sequence from now on

The fact that your recreated the intro is amazing! LMFAO! I’m dying at how immaculately you managed to do it. So accurate and brilliant!😂 This episode is kinda one of the reasons why I don’t rate Miss Kate highly as head of the studio (even though she hasn’t witnessed everything). But it feels so good to see Emily get what’s coming to her. But the character development that follows her afterwards makes this even better.

I just thought of an error in Emily's plan with Michelle's phone. Like they took her phone when she was busy and sent the messages at that time so if Kate just checked when they were sent, you could see that Michelle couldn't have sent them because she wasn't with her phone 🤦🤣

I've always thought Riley was manipulative in season 1! But is Emily actually good at manipulation though (seeing how all her efforts to get Michelle kicked out of the studio were a) indirect (see Steph's idea for the whole thing) and b) ineffective - she loses dance captain because this fails. Or, alternatively, was she self-sabotaging? Great video!

Riley was always my favourite character. She just had a very interesting personality. This was my favourite childhood show. Great job on the intro! This video was so good!

i have to say that riley was my all time favorite character like i would defend her in my mind over anything and i cried when james and riley broke up twice…

I respect the trouble it would have been to go through each character’s dance in the intro 💜🥰💜 Also the ending with you and Sauble 💜🐾💜

Ok i hear what you're saying about Riley losing some of her character traits however, if we're gonna do in depth analysis of this show (and let me be clear, I am So Glad that we are) I actually don't think that was James' doing. I've seen it with a lot of people like Riley who in school and other institutional settings are really dependant on being able to control things around them in a very structured and organised way. Then as they get older, things get messier and more complicated, they kind of crumble and lose a sense of identity because they can't still do that. I think that's why Riley and Alfie happened season 4, Riley felt like a different person and needed something different. Alfie, as a stable dependable person offered a different dynamic and I honestly like that she explored options outside of James. I think she needed that to see who she really was and what she really wanted. Season 4 generally was one of my least favourite seasons (it was tooth and nail to get to regionals with zero positive pay off and we were left on a very sour note with a lot of characters) but i think the Riley and Alfie storylines was one of the stronger more mature ones of the show.

That masterpiece of Stand Up was something else

5:30 mmmm no hahaha, giving James the answers of the exercises helps him to verify if he made the right procedure, it's like he knows where does he have to end and now he can check if his procedure is correct, and if he gets a different result then he can go back and check where he got wrong as many times as he needs to in order to understand what he's doing. I mean, there's a point in student life where math is more about understanding the problem and the procedure to solve it than abt getting a result.
