This makes my heart melt….. elephants are by far one of the most phenomenal species. Gentle giants that are loyal, social, great memory, and are considered the most cognitive out of all animals. They also have similar grieving patterns to humans where they bury their dead, they paid tribute to the bodies and mourn deeply. They are literally the only animal who have the ability to shed tears out of grief. Elephants are considered sacred in the Buddhist culture… they represent loyalty, power, wisdom, and fertility. I love them so much….❤🐘❤️

If you do love elephants and want to support somewhere in South Africa that saves orphan baby elephants and rehabilitates other elephants then go to HERD on KZread. It stands for a South Afrikanns word meaning the place it is I THINK and then Elephant Rehabilitation Sanctuary or another word to that effect. They have about 20 something elephants who were going to be culled years ago but were saved and transported to this private Sanctuary as well as orphans who have lost their mothers and own herd and I can state here without a word of a lie that those elephants have excellent care and an excellent life. You should check them out! They even have a pink elephant Khanyisa who is an albino that was rescued 4 years ago and Phabeni who is a little bull who was rescued almost a year back but has suffered lots of health issues. This elephant has had blood transfusions from other elephants and now drinks goats milk after months of refusing to drink most of the milk formulas he was given. Seriously, if most people received the love and treatment this one baby elephant has been receiving the global population would be like 10 billion people instead of 8! It's a great community to be involved in.

So I can only imagine that the pool isn't chlorinated or salty. They must keep it clean in other ways, probably huge pumps like a fish tank so the water constantly cycles through filters.

Actually, resorts in Africa especially near parks and game reserves cannot chlorinate the water in these outdoor pools because they have become watering holes for animals in dry season. It is kind of standard policy now for these resorts and animals especially elephants coming to drink water here has become a feature of attraction for these resorts.

This happens quite often. Water is a precious commodity among elephants especially during the dry season. They actually use their memories of water spots that is passed one generation to another, as they roam looking for food and water. There’s a hotel someplace in Africa, that elephants actually pass through the lobby of the hotel. As they eat the fruit growing on the trees that the hotel was built of their migration.
