Honestly, the only reason this was at all janky is because of the low detail Navi models and the intentional lack of effort. You could probably make some pretty remarkable shit if you took your time on the skin textures, had good actors, and fixing the limbs. This deserves some actual props, even though it’s silly af.

Agreed, but the idea was just to show how far you could get with what is available today. These guys got 90% there with widely available and either free or relatively inexpensive tools. If it was a full studio effort with polished voice acting and actors, time to flesh out models etc. they would most probably get even closer. Cameron was shooting Avatar 2 for 12 years, dropping a billion dollars in the process. An animated film student can now mostly get to something comparable at an iota of the cost.. Crazy how far we have come in a little over a decade. AI is changing the game real quick

Here's my question: If human scientists have the ability to create Avatar versions of the Navi, & the Navi in turn can put a human soul into their Avatar, why not just do this for as many humans as possible to survive on Pandora rather then try to terraform it for humans to live on it? Sure, it would mean giving up humanity to become an alien species, but when Earth is dying & humans can't survive on Pandora, when there is a way for us to adapt to do so just bring as many humans to Pandora as possible & turn them all into Navi.

Because then they aren't humans anymore. They have human minds and memories, but they have Na'vi bodies. And after generations of living on Pandora, those memories will be gone, replaced with memories made on Pandora. People would possibly stop believing themselves to be human, and instead be Na'vi.

@norbertpaternoster The poster of the comment cares, I care, Shadowdragon probably cares. It's not about who cares or not. A question is meant to be asked regardless of other people's opinions.

Most humans would never give up their creature comforts and the idea of not destroying land to make the environment (or lack thereof) how they want would end up ruining Pandora too. The scientists were interested in learning, studying, researching, and connecting with the Navi and the planet. They chose those fields and it's why they're there. Bring a bunch of average everyday Janes and Joes who will likely be xenophobic, even if they did transfer to Navi/Human hybrid bodies, they'd probably be just like they are on Earth with a desire to be seen as special just like on Earth. Everyone is human, but they claim to be "superior" and see non-hybrids as "inferior" just to feel like they're excused to be assholes. There would have to be serious vetting to ensure those chosen don't have such tendencies, but even they wouldn't be enough to weed out people who would cause problems.

I would love to see these pushed out as 3D. Get that last bit of James Cameron magic. KZread players in VR work great for 3D playback. And a cool area for Corridor to learn and flex.
