Multiple intakes do not affect pressure. Intake pressure can be boosted by up to four intake boosters. Intake + 4 equal boosters = max pressure of that pipe style. To restore intake pressure later down the line, you have to use a pressure tank powered by a Shard or Shard Bar. The pipe line must be the same tier as the intake all the way from the intake to the pressure tank or you will drop to the max pressure as the lower tier of pipe.

I know its a bit of cheating, but there is one mod that allows you to spawn Dev pickaxe, I think you already tryed it, if I remember correctly, or it was someone different, I don't know. But the dev pickaxe make hole like slighlty smaller than the nuke with every click, making engineering way faster and easyer :D
