As much as I love Jeep's, I'm really happy to see you building the Ramcharger.
Go big, you both know being able to roll over big obstacles with ease is the way to go here.
ok now that i've seen the rocker panels cut them off and boat side it with plate then you won't need chassis mounted sliders. i was hoping you'd run 44" tyres but 42's are close enough. i'm hoping you won't narrow the front clip and grill because it looks good.
I've been avoiding watching any of your Ramcharger videos since I once owned a mint condition `87 with the same gold color in 1998. I lifted it, added 33" tires, added a Warn winch bumper and fabricated a roof rack for it. It was incredibly clean and pretty. Wish I could post a photo of it. I traded it in on a Honda Civic to save on gas when commuting to work and have regretted it ever since. One of the dumbest automotive trades I have ever done. Seeing your Ramcharger build video alerts has brought back painful memories, lol.

Everyone has made stupid trades and if there was time travel we would know because a lot of people would have there old cool rides back. My list is long, El Camino, 90 two door Cherokee and matching Wrangler hard top both lifted, 8.1 four door Alison transmission 4×4 Chevy. Ordered from the factory.

42s if that all you got but if 42s look this good what would 48s or 50s look like🤙🏼🇨🇦
I remember someone on the video in Moab pointed out that the big side windows were a probable fail. I never had a problem with them in my 87 Ramcharger, but I never went to the extremes that this one will see. I would recommend putting some additional window tint film on them or a giant decal. That way, if they get broken the broken pieces stay in place, and your gear won't be compromised. BTW, I had a 98 F450 Super Duty and it had a Dana 80 in the rear and a 60 in the front.

Yeah I think they were meaning that they would possibly get broken on some of the trails that are maybe skinnier during the Ultimate Adventure part if they win.

Supercharge it, Lone Wolf Mcquade-like
44X18.5XR15 on my First gen. Dana 70 and kingpin Dana 60. 4:88 gears (welded rear) is an excellent combination. Plus if you pull em out of a early 70s dodge they bolt right up.
I have seen Samurais with 42 and they look good, you just need to get rid of all the sheetmetal necessary so that they fit and don't rub, and with no suspension lift so you can keep your COG low
Ram Chargers always looked great to me. Can't wait to see this build progress!
Could tell from the stock off-road Moab run that it needed more tire and 42's should do the trick! Cool build! Something special about those Ram Chargers.
I would definitely upgrade the axels and tires and definitely a hemi swap no matter what
So great to see you on a project that will give you great content. Not that you dont already supply me with that but it means more! You have consistently climbed your way to the top of the list of my favorite show to watch. I really enjoy your style of presentation and now teamed up with holly i can't wait for the next . i hope your rewarded with huge growth as your channel really is going places and your very deserving of all that comes your way. Wow! The color saturation, depth of field, jump cuts... Did Robert Rodriguez or Quinton Tarrentino stop by?
42's, trick is cut the wheel wells, for me...trim don't make it run faster, it's eye candy, but on some trucks looks GR8. But.....sacrifices have to be made for function n purpose...👍🤠👍
If you got them Rudy get out the cutting wheel love it holley
From years of watching the Ultimate adventure, I’d say that 40’s would actually be the minimum size tires you’d want to run, so 42’s should work. I know someone was running 37’s and he kept getting high centered because they go in some really challenging places.
Those are some massive tires and wheels! I think it will loke awesome
I think the 42s will work, since most of the wheel wells are rusted through, my only negative is trying to hold onto chrome trim. The trim makes the RAM Charger stand out. Ps, whatever you do do NOT get rid of the hood ornament!😊

I can't wait to see you make this RAD RAMCHARGER! It's going to win! I'm glad you removed the weak axles. Definitely do 42's or maybe 44's! ❤ Cut the rockers out and replace them with rock sliders.
Rudy my vote is definitely for you and Hollie in my opinion you two deserve to be there I know you two would do good. I think the bigger tires would be a major improvement and help you guys out a lot
What.. not "Axle la vista" Holly ??? sure go for 42's... we know it was already decided 🙂
42’s all the way! Lots of cutting will make them fit nice and keep it low 😍
Have y'all watched any ultimate adventure? I think Hollie has run the event. At any rate. full-sized rigs fair very poorly on the UA trails. They get beat up front, back and both sides, sometimes into unrecognizable shapes. Besides the body width, full-sized rigs weigh a lot more than a jeep, like 1/2 to 3/4 of a ton more weight. Have you ever noticed TrailMater. All that body damage was from it being a rock crawler, long before it became a wrecker. Rory claims there has been no body damage since it became a wrecker. With a rig that size and weight, y'all definitely need 42" or 43" tires. I love to watch builds, but what were y'all thinking.

THis is going to be one awesome build!! I love the older style trucks and this one's going to be great!!
Custom axles is in keeping with the old Dodge Fargo Truck Company. Back in the 50's through 70's you could order a custom configured just about any way you wanted by just adding extra lines to the build form and writing in what you wanted even if it wasn't on the menu. The write in's on my 1969 Swept Side Long Bed Power Wagon included a Military 8 Ton Big Spool PTO Winch and a W600 drive train (they had to shorten the axle tubes so the wheels wouldn't stick out too far) along with a 4,800 lb clutch, 12 inch brakes and 12 leafs in the springs riding on 16 ply 16.5 inch tires. With body side moldings, tinted glass and air conditioning the total sticker price including all the custom mods was around $3,500. What stood out was with all the mods including the big 440 cu in engine turning it into basically a 10 Ton Pickup Truck they chose to forgo the power steering and requested a manual steering box. When the front axle automatically locked you better have had a good grip on the steering wheel or it would spin in your hands an give you quite a burn on your hands where you were gripping it. You learned pretty quickly "Don't hook your thumbs!" and that in rough terrain you should keep the drivers window rolled all the way down. Dodge really was pretty flexible back in the day about letting you have it your way. Best!
I was all in on not making significant changes and keeping it more original. But with all the rust that's present, it's not exactly a pristine piece. So...go nuts. 4x tires, bigger axles, whatever works.
Pulling out front in the vote!!!! I personally just keep a browser tab open on my phone with the OnX vote page and visit that puppy everyday…..sometimes you have to sign out and sign back in to vote but I’ll struggle through it for you guys. 😜
You're getting better at this Rudy. Keep going.
38-40 is as big as I ever go on a D/W Dodge. I don’t like removing inner fenders is the biggest reason. The stock axles are good to about 35” tires for those that don’t know. Upgraded to chromoly shafts they will handle 37-38s. But the cost of the chromoly shafts can be as much as getting a set of 1 tons. Either way you need to rebuild them unless your existing axles are know to have been done.
So I had a 79 Ramcharger, Macho Edition (yes, it's true) back in the 80's and early 90's. Not sure if they changed things, but the brake system was always a bit weak. So was the steering. I'd say go as big a tire as you want. Cut those fender wells. Don't let those Ramcharger "Purists" tell you otherwise. They were OK trucks and those later years are even less special. I'm guessing it has the 318. Some came with the 360 which also had a better transmission.
The 42s are a beautiful look, but for highway safety, I would think a more modest 38 would be just fine. It would fit the wheel well better too!

Anything bigger than a 33 requires cutting the wheel well so may as go right to the 42
Yes definitely go the 42s. Go big or go home. LoL God bless
go with 38 tires give her a lift and for goodness' sake beef up the steering top to bottom, beef up the axels (just ask Hollie why) add a badlands winch and yankem rope. full cage and rock sliders, skid plates rebuild the transfer case (weak link) give the old 318 a tune up
ALWAYS GO BIG !
Get your welding supplies, bottles full, and get to work, remember it's a chrysler product the ignition system is the weak link. Disconnect the battery to alternator lead, before welding.
I have a great feeling that this build is going to turn out amazing, a great truck to start with and two individuals who love working on cars(trucks). I can’t wait to see the results. As for the wheels and tires GO BIG
When 20 years younger. I took a 72 extended cab Ford 3/4 ton pick-up and put 50's all the way around it, they had no problem fitting.
Ram Chargers bring back a lot of old family memories. my father had a few throughout my childhood, one he had was converted to a mud truck, Black on black 44s with a 360 V8. he called it his "War Pig" lol. Now this was in the late 80's and early 90's. that truck never got stuck ever and he was always pulling others from the mud pit. A 1/2 mile pit on a pole line road in the mountains here in northeast PA. Fun times :) and good times.
Definitely at least 40" tires! Maybe you should get those Bead Grip wheels instead of the bead locks and save a bit of money?
Tires; go with tires size of Morvair, Mater or Merlin's rig in the Wrecker games. You want to go anywhere off road, these seem to be the ones. These rigs all get trailered to distant locations, but I guess the question is; 'what are you intending to do with this rig? ' Love your channel and watching you develop your following with great content.
42” looks nice 👍 and opening the wheel well up will get rid of some rust 😁
For me 42's look amazing, but after gringing that fender you need to restore that nickel strap around the edge. Must be done to safe that beatiful look.
Would like to see more videos on this channel. I know you are a very busy guy; I'm just letting you know. If you put out more vids, I would watch every one of them. I'm sure I am not the only one that would watch either. Awesome channel! 👍👍
I think the 42” tires look awesome!!! Hopefully, they perform as good as they look!
Love the big tyres and moving the axil forward to accommodate them will be a huge improvement for it off road.
Boat side the rust out and run the 42s you'll have the RADest Hollie charger on the planet. There's plenty of room in those wheel wells when you open em up and tube fender fabercoble em back My ol k5 took 38s with fender shaving but was over lifted and way sketchy on the off camber trails of NY Pa. Keep it beefy but low as possible. I think is was said before but worth hearing again, big back windows need a way to keep them from shattering, tint or custom full stickers, or go all in chop the top and rag the ol beast.
42s look great
OK, rear axel is removed. Let's strap the front axel under it, pick it up with the lift (hope it balances) Then set the axel on a stand sitting, on two car dollies! LOL sounds like stuff I do. Be Safe!!
Looking good man! I can't wait to see it on the trail
Rudy you did not sound like yourself. Hope all is well with you. I'm looking forward to see what you all can do with this beast. I notice non of you ever build a ford but you all are quick to use their axles. I have to agree with you all not using Ford's motors. After the 351, non of their motors last 100,000 miles without having to put money into those motor. Remember to always smile because of this amazing build you two are doing. I'm team RAD and MMT> Be safe and build Amazing.
I love how earthy the video is. Lots of fun with cool stuff happening
I always wanted 44's on mine, but 42's look fantastic. As for the people who want you to leave this thing stock and lose the On X, I say you do whatever you want, it's your truck!
Glad you wrote down the list wouldn't want to forget
Axles, with lockers 2 shifter transfer case and 37 inch tires. A 4 inch lift would help
I built a 84 ram charger when I was 18. 10” lift on 40’s with a 383 big block. Same colour even. Cool truck
Good you helping Holley!
Dodge ram charger is literally my favorite vehicle ever. Had a 85’ back on 00’ loved it. Awesome back seat etc. 😊
Go with 50 inch tires! 3M makes a window film that is superstrong for your sidewindows!
Those 42's look good rudy
I think you really need to go bigger on those tires, they're too small for this application go big or not at all .your dads wrecker idea low powerful but your design, great channel great work can't wait to see more.
Yes on 42s that looks awesome will climb obstacles better and more ground clearance
Love how it looks guys. It's coming along nicely so far guys. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friends. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
100% on the 42s, that will look amazing!!
I love those old vane style wheels, it will be a shame they can't be used on a project like this.

Turbines are sweeet! Grew up loving them on the General Lee and the A-Team van.
42's yes!!! they look great on the ram charger
Brings back so many memories .. had a 1986 in the early 1990's loved it looks so sweet with giant tires... STOMPER
Maybe an old school build? If the wrecker games showed us anything, than it’s the dominance of leaf springs. It’s less boring and maybe cheaper to keep it less fancy and without LS swap number 100000. or other common stuff. There should be other oldfashioned and rare approaches. When they made capable vehicles in the 70s and early 80s, how did they do it?
Gotta have those 42's on there!! 🤘 That looks mean 💪
Yes 42’s !!!! I have an ‘87 4Runner sitting on 42’s :D
Driver drop axle on a passenger drop truck? New tcase or gunna cut the tubes?? Lol this is gunna be interesting
Build the heck out of it big tires, gears, posi ,the works can't waite to see it done I'm a big dodge fan I've built tons of them
Love these especially Lone Wolf McQuade’s. Parents have a neighbor with 2 sitting there for over 15 years and don’t want to sell yet 😢
I think as little lift as you guys can get away with, some fender trimming and 40's would be awesome for this thing.
It would be prudent to stay as light as possible. Good potential for sure. No 40’s. Jeeze 37.5’s. You can hit it harder with less damage to stub shafts and steering components. Carry plenty of spare parts
CUT IT UP!! MAKE THOSE TIRES ( TYRES for Holly ) FIT!!! It's Rusty anyway. Low and fat. CUT THOSE FENDERS! ( WINGS for Holly ) MRCGA! ( Make ram chargers great again! ) Pretty up so the pierce aren't angry.
Very good choice on the axles that Ford Dana 60 is a tough tough unit. This is six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell, Pennsylvania
A little fender trimming and 42s Baby!!!
Rudy - Yeah man!!!! I’ve been waiting for you to start something like this project!!! I’m rooting for you with this channel Rudy. This build will have us watching for more.
Go big
Hollie, you can buy one of the inexpensive HF wooden dollys which have large, heavy duty wheels that are bolted to the dolly frame. The casters could be easily attached to the bottom of your axle stand and should be more stable than setting the stand on the wheel casters you are currently using. Just a thought.
@MischiefMakerTV

I have a good set of casters coming for it! In fact, I should probably check the PO Box!! 😅
I would keep the tires around 37 to 40 inch max on this. If you are building for UA you will have significant road time with this rig.
Remember as kids going out with uncle in snow with 9 cusions shovel couple propane bottles 6pack water food and tarp for last ditch and we drive up mountain trails maybe on 33max just a beater and had some great memories in it I grew up liking the but had many broncos due to top he was a diehard Mopar fan r.i.p keep up work can't wait to see it done
I’m happy you all are filming. It seem Dirt Lifestyle has retired or stopped making videos.
I would comp cut the rear and front tube the front. Google "comp cut Tintop samurai" that would be a very different build. It would be cool and can be hand built to save some money. And you can set the wheelbase where you want it.
If you start wanting for mopower a Cummins or big block should be a fairly easy swap in! I would have stuck with Dodge axles to easy potential future upgrades! Ford axles go bad also!
I'm voting for yaw because of the rig and so far the route you going even though I think bigger tires I will say this was not easy to do because I like all of yaw the truck won me over I use to have 79 Cherokee cheif when it was still AMC and now 95 chevy Tahoe
Do whatever it takes and you have the budget for. The 42's are the best for what you're building it to do. And it's not like you have a cherry example of the Ram Charger here and you're not building a trailer queen show car. I'm sure there is a channel on here that restores things like this, so that should satisfy anyone's itch to see that type of build. Personally, I'm looking forward to kick ass take no prisoners type of truck.
42" for sure
Dodgeney Dangerfield ….finally getting some respect! WOO HOO👍👍
Great content! Keep em coming!
Go with the 42s. They would help give you a reason to remove some of that rust.
