Not only is Derek amazing but the whole band just creates a mellifluous atmosphere around him to bend and break. The bass player alone is so melodic with his changes.

It’s because it’s Otiel burbridge on bass here, who is one of the most incredibly proficient electric bass players alive. Derek is amazing as it is and Otiel is arguably on another level .

Since 2010 the band has probably done this same tune well over 1,500 times, and the most amazing thing is Derek has a different opening and solo on each and every one of them. His creativity is off the charts. He approaches music as a true Jazz musician. You play what you are feeling at the moment.

His soft notes - his dynamics - are just so incredibly sweet. I don't know how you could possibly catch all that nuance in notation. Great job.

There are lots of amazing guitarists throughout history including all the legends we all know, but not one of them gives me the feeling that trucks does when he plays slide. It’s other worldly.

Hey Levi, here an interesting suggestion for a transcription. I'm a huge Allan Holdsworth fan and everyone knows the incredible heights he reached, but I think one of his greatest solos is fairly early in his career, 1974 to be precise. Whilst in later years he looked back at his early stuff as primitive, there is no doubt that every era of his playing was beyond any mere mortal and remains genius to this day. Here I am talking about the solo on Hazard Profile Part 1 from the Bundles album by Soft Machine. Unlike his later paying, you can hear pick attack, muting, riffs, rock phrasing, etc, but what makes this extended solo pure genius is the melodic and thematic development. To be this creative over a fairly simply vamp is astonishing, and the way the solo just builds and builds is truly spiritual. Anyway Levi, if you are not familiar with this work of genius check it out, you won't regret it. Peace.

Could you please transcribe the guitar solo at the end of PWA INSTRUMENTAL by 5th Ward Boyz? PLEASE?!?! It's probably the greatest guitar solo ever laid down on a rap song. Played by Joseph Bythewood Sr aka JB Money. He played on countless album from the Isleys to 5th Ward Boyz. Wish he was still here so I could thank him for inspiring me to learn to play. Joe was murdered a few years ago by his adult son. Taken far too soon. REST IN PEACE, JB MONEY! If you dont transcribe it, please have a listen. It's one of the songs as a kid that inspired me to want to learn to play. I just wish I could thank JB. 😔
