@Abcdef12396 there are some videos of him soloing without a slide. He does great there as well. But his slide work is on another level.
Imagine being Susan Tedeschi and getting to listen to Derek Trucks practice at home all day

Not only is Derek amazing but the whole band just creates a mellifluous atmosphere around him to bend and break. The bass player alone is so melodic with his changes.

It’s because it’s Otiel burbridge on bass here, who is one of the most incredibly proficient electric bass players alive. Derek is amazing as it is and Otiel is arguably on another level .
Since 2010 the band has probably done this same tune well over 1,500 times, and the most amazing thing is Derek has a different opening and solo on each and every one of them. His creativity is off the charts. He approaches music as a true Jazz musician. You play what you are feeling at the moment.

@@EdGlossthis particular rendition is my favorite by far.
He is so insanely technically skilled and also has so much soul! I've never heard slide quite like he does it. Thank you for highlighting this solo.
If this does not give you chills and maybe a tear in your eye, something is wrong.
His soft notes - his dynamics - are just so incredibly sweet. I don't know how you could possibly catch all that nuance in notation. Great job.
There are lots of amazing guitarists throughout history including all the legends we all know, but not one of them gives me the feeling that trucks does when he plays slide. It’s other worldly.
I love the bassline!
Derek is the most beautifully melodic slide players I've ever seen. Hands down.
I've always loved how Trucks can go from lyrical & sweet to _rockin'_ and still lyrical & sweet...so naturally, effortlessly beautiful... ❤🔥
One of my favorite guitar solos of all time - brings tears to my eyes every time - Thank you!
Not gonna lie, i have had a special place in my heart for this solo in particular for a while. Thank you so mich
Hey Levi, here an interesting suggestion for a transcription. I'm a huge Allan Holdsworth fan and everyone knows the incredible heights he reached, but I think one of his greatest solos is fairly early in his career, 1974 to be precise. Whilst in later years he looked back at his early stuff as primitive, there is no doubt that every era of his playing was beyond any mere mortal and remains genius to this day. Here I am talking about the solo on Hazard Profile Part 1 from the Bundles album by Soft Machine. Unlike his later paying, you can hear pick attack, muting, riffs, rock phrasing, etc, but what makes this extended solo pure genius is the melodic and thematic development. To be this creative over a fairly simply vamp is astonishing, and the way the solo just builds and builds is truly spiritual. Anyway Levi, if you are not familiar with this work of genius check it out, you won't regret it. Peace.
I love watching your transcriptions, Levi! It really helps us appreciate the actual music itself even more, seeing it all play out on a tab. Thank you!
My absolute favorite live solo of this song!
Derek is amazing for coming up with this solo and you're amazing for transcribing, Levi. Thanks so much for what you share with us all for free. I'll have to buy your guided practice routine so I can climb the infinite mountain of greatness to get a little closer to you and get a glimpse of what it's like to play like Derek.
When the band has the same level of appreciation we do.
Thank you, Levi! 🙏😍
Derek is the MAN!
MAGICAL.
He’s such a genius
one of the GOATS band
He did this with BB King, who said it was amongst the best he’s heard…. John Mayer was sitting there too, in awe!
crossroads 2010. he had some attitude on that one. love it.
Also listen to Duanne Allman - true master of slide guitar.
Great Tab!!
Impressive. Very melodic.
For some reason the original video is not available for me to watch so thank you for uploading this so I can rewatch it 💙
He's dancing with his favorite girl.
Just when I thought I heard the best guitarists around and than this guy shows up...
I love playing slide guitar to this piece, gives me Goosebumps every single time
if there was ever a solo i would like to play its this one
Holy crap! You wrote that down? Same respect to you as to Derek.
Pls more Derek Trucks
THE BEST SLIDE PLAYER IN THE WORLD, HANDS DOWN, SKYDOG IS SMILING DOWN ON YOU BIGTIME
Amazing - can't believe you managed to transcribe this. The solo is a masterpiece.
That's godlike!!!
🎉❤
Imagine him playing with the Grateful Dead
Can you do any Matt Schofield transcriptions?
Could you please transcribe the guitar solo at the end of PWA INSTRUMENTAL by 5th Ward Boyz? PLEASE?!?! It's probably the greatest guitar solo ever laid down on a rap song. Played by Joseph Bythewood Sr aka JB Money. He played on countless album from the Isleys to 5th Ward Boyz. Wish he was still here so I could thank him for inspiring me to learn to play. Joe was murdered a few years ago by his adult son. Taken far too soon. REST IN PEACE, JB MONEY! If you dont transcribe it, please have a listen. It's one of the songs as a kid that inspired me to want to learn to play. I just wish I could thank JB. 😔
Who is the best guitarist with 8 fingers? Stanley Jordan With 5? EVH With 4? Shawn Lane With 3? Eric Clapton With 2? Django Reinhardt With 1? Derek Trucks
Question: why two drummers? Allman brothers band did that too. Why? Very happy with the transpript by the way and I love the solo.
Como puedo aprender la teoría de las canciones a fondo para tocar .
When you can make your guitar sing like that the people will come.
It's in open e?
What's the tuning?
Derek is so brilliant. This is an amazing transcription. Is the full tab available on your Patreon?

Tuning is open E. You could say he's playing minor pentatonic, but he's also playing micro tones, so don't know if it can be defined that way.
In open E I presume?
