This could have been bad: Ford Escape Fuel pump fix

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Just because you have the ability to use a tool, doesn't mean you should.
If you're this stupid, just let someone else do it. :)

On the bright side....The Knucklehead who installed that pump wasn't smoking when he did it.....Had a 2002 Escape XLS 4x4 with V6....Ran good...very fast.....but I could never get a comfortable driving position....Steering column seemed too short....Had to sit close to wheel, and legs felt cramped....Kept for two winters, and sold...

Damn! How do you forget the O ring?! You’d think he’d have seen there was one on the old pump. Smoke out the tailpipe means the fuel pump is bad. Geez!

Thanks for this video, Jay! I was curious how to, but never really tried to, replace a fuel pump. Most of what I have are Ford trucks, so this was excellent for me and I plan to save it for sure! This leak plus a few cigarettes and the whole thing could have gone BOOM! Happy Memorial Day to you and your family!

I still remember my first time to help someone put in a new fuel pump and tank. The pump was to tall, the rings were bent and had to buy a new set, the wiring set up was wrong and had to buy a different wiringand the new straps didn't hold the tank so we had to use a ratchet strap to hold it. Close to seven hundred dollars later the truck ran for a few months and needed another new fuel pump. We just junked it and got the money back in parts.

I had a 08 escape v6 AWD. Loved it but it was rusted out at the shock towers. I had planned to fix it but it got totaled by a deer. It was still drivable I drove it for almost 2 weeks before the insurance company came and got it. I tried to find another one but either was more then I could afford or it was rusted out. Ended up getting a 10 focus to replace it. I don't have the focus no more gave it to my daughter and son-in-law. I now drive a POS 01 Silverado that I got for free after I hit the deer with the escape.

My latest discovery of previous owner/mechanic f**kery was a straight piped exhaust on an 03 tracker, NOW wait you say, thats not terrible and sure, true it was fine-functional enough just noisy but so what. Well, the bend that should have went over the axle tube went over the top of the diff, and at about 1.5 inches of bump in the suspension the exhaust pipe acted as a bump stop between the diff and a frame crossmember. Horrible Horrible ride, I don't recommend using your exhaust as a bump stop.
