Feels like Chanel executives are trying to push for fast-fashion elements and still rack in haute-couture level of profits. And if yes, it's disgusting.

I left my last job due to toxic work environment. New VP made everyone in my dept feel miserable, caused me to take sick leave. Through a mediator I asked to separate and got my severance. Soon after everyone in my dept quit to. Sorry for the new employees they have no idea what they are getting themselves into. If Virginie was unhappy I’m glad she protected herself and left.

I’ve been working for Chanel as a fa and I’ve felt so unhappy… both my boss and colleagues were so mean and the work environment was so toxic… people were passive aggressive and there was a total lack of professionalism and communication… I guess the more skilled you are the worse you feel because they don’t want you to excel and do your best… they want you to do what they want you to do… for people out there: be careful of you want to go and work in this type of environment, it can totally mess up with your mental health

Respectfully I disagree. May I have been for over 16 years, in over ++++ many handbags, only one C19 I had to send for repair for one stitch on the strap and Chanel complementary did it for me within a reasonable time. I do give you the demand is so high that they over produce some of their bags and maybe that’s why you hear more about Chanel than other brands, because everyone loves Chanel and the demand is there. @@je-suis_TatiI respectfully disagree. My friend who is very wealthy (and a total Chanel girl) has refused to buy new Chanel in the last few years because of the decreasing quality. There is an obvious quality difference between her older Chanel bags and her newer ones. I am not a huge Chanel fan but there is a big difference in quality between my older Fendi bags and newer Chanel. I’d say that newer Fendi is nicer than newer Chanel. If Chanel gets rid of all their experienced workers to save money, you better believe that their quality is likely going to see a massive hit.

This is shocking!!! Haute Couture is NOT fast fashion or American ready to wear! Chanel is the creme de la creme of the luxury fashion houses. If management has been squeezing the "hands" of the house and Virginie, to use inexpensive materials and cut corners to save costs, I can't blame her for walking. The worst thing a luxury fashion house can do is bring in management that has no background in fashion or appreciation for the craft/legacy. Its the kiss of death! This would also explain the recent decline in Quality in Chanel! This could be the first nail in the Chanel coffin if they don't fix this and fix it fast. The fact that the senior ladies of the different ateliers are aligned with Virginie is bad for Chanel. Without the experienced hands of the maison, a couture fashion house is literally dead in the water. France is notorious for its strikes and improving employee rights. A great couture house is NOT an American corporation and cannot be managed like one! None of the other great fashion houses are following this management style. If this is a case of bad management, demanding profits at the expense of quality and pressuring the "hands" that execute the vision like no one else can because of their years of experience, then I say au revoir Lena Nair!! 🇫🇷🗼❤ Vive le France libre!! Bravo Virginie, bravo!!👏👏👏 One last thought, and it needs to be said they would have never done this to a man.

Why else would she have opted to not wear her usual Chanel haute couture to this year’s Met Gala? The pencil pushers and money men, and women, are ruining the luxury goods sector with their insatiable lust for profits, no matter the consequences‼️

Leena Nyaar comes from the Unilever India mindset - cheap labor, cheap chemicals white labeled for home use with no oversight from government bodies over safety. The result is lots of profits for products with slim margins. The Unilever India style of manufacturing and production is all about control and maximizing worker per unit hour utility. Chanel is now no longer Chanel Paris. It is now Chanel India. Good night Karl. Good night Gabriel. Adieu Virginie. Namastay Leena.

If les mesdames in the atelier put down their shears and walked out in support of Virginie is the haute couture collection even finished? In France Chanel management will find it almost impossible to replace those ladies because French people believe and act in solidarity. As for trying to make les mesdames work harder and possibly longer hours that just isn't going to happen. HR hired the wrong marketing person at Bud Light who did a campaign completely against the base consumers of Bud Light and those consumers rebelled against the brand, causing multi-billion dollar loses (and counting). This marketing person did not understand the profile of their consumer. Chanel, fashion houses; QUALITY matters immensely, CREATIVITY matters immensely, listening to the base consumers matters.. Chanel hiring upper management who wants to cut costs by laying off seasoned workers who literally make the brand and buy low quality items.. is a disaster! This upper management making these decisions are entirely out of touch of the profile of the consumers and lovers of Chanel, what it means to be a fashion house, Chanel itself.. Great video Dacob! This was super fascinating and sad news. If they are skimping on quality on Haute Couture (allegedly :) ) then absolutely nothing is safe. I really hope Olivier can defend the quality of the fragrances and they somehow reverse this sinking ship. Throughout the history of Chanel I don't think they ever had a lack of quality of their fragrances, reformulations and reinterpretations, sure, but never poor quality. I really hope they wake up and protect their legacy and heritage.

This is a true shame. Giving 30 years to a company and working with Karl, something majorly shady went down. HR is at the bottom of this.. Because a seamstress is older, you want to get rid of them? These are women with talent and more than likely these women worked with Coco. I’m so tired of hearing about AI! That doesn’t take the place of something that is handmade and is quality. People that buy Chanel expect quality! Night shifts? They are doing that trying to make people quit. They figure that none of the seamstresses will want to work the night shift so they will quit. Problem solved for Chanel. Disgusting! A 7 inch NDA agreement? Wow. There is a lot they are trying to cover up. I pray Virginia does not come to that show! They probably are banning her from it anyway. Another HR specialty. So sad.

They both have their great moments and amazing fashion ideas. IMHO, people that have been into chanel for a long time, can truly appreciate the fashion moved she took chanel to. Their strategic decisions are turning Chanel into a first class sweat shop - it's so sad. Karl never had any poverty consciousness about him and yet he was simultaneously not a snob at all - he valued people and he valued time as being the most important luxury in life, and knew that artists need time and the best conditions in order to be creative. He trusted the brand to Virginie - who is superb. You are so right Dacob, it's game over for Chanel - sending love to Virginie, I hope she creates her own brand, I will be a customer for sure.

I wonder if it’s why everyone is selling their bag collections now too with the release of Dior sweat shops and their rising cost of bags? It seems connected like some of these people got the heads up a couple months before the news was released. I mean we always kinda knew there might be a possibility of sweat shops due to them being literally everywhere even non brand name stuff. But we hoped better for the luxury brands like maybe their workers were being paid more as the reason for some of the price increases 🥲 so sad about all the fashion house revelations coming out 💔😔

All the luxury brands are experiencing a downturn. That is when heads roll. The corporate way to let someone go is to give them no notice, and to deliver the news quickly. That is why Virginie came in happy and left quickly. They waited until the collection was finished, then they told her. They may have offered to have her close her show, but she was too upset. She was only ever an interim promotion, but they gave her a chance. I personally did not like her clothes at all, but I know others did. They probably told her that they wished her the best, and would issue a statement that it was a “parting of the ways.” Of course those that worked alongside her for years would be upset, but that does not mean their environment was toxic. Chanel will survive.

People have stopped buying those machine made Chanel bags (which don’t keep their resell value) that cost as much as hermes hand made quota bags. Chanel certainly can’t drop their leather goods prices back down. They over-milked this bag cash cow and China isn’t recovering anytime soon to pick up the slack. So heads will roll whether it’s those slow seamstresses which can be replaced by Indians who are just as good and won’t complaint long hours. Tbh, Virginie’s designs were just fair. There will be plenty of talented designers who want this post as it is Chanel after all. I doubt management is worried. Yes, they are in a bind as the haute couture show is happening soon. But throwing some money at this problem will get it resolved one way or the other. I highly doubt they will ask Virginie to come back. That would be the stupidest thing to do.
