If San Martin keeps on this trajectory, they will evolve into a genuine threat to the likes of Citizen, Seiko and Orient for sure. I like this one a lot, even though it is not perfect. Roll on the V2. Cheers, Jody

If Jody thinks sterile case backs on a $300 San Martin are cost cutting, wait till he sees Rolex case backs.

Rolex have made a point of it. They’ve even done it so you have to purchase a special tool to unscrew it. I think in Cornwall they might refer to them as Tazrrrrs. And with Rolex it’s hiding the fact that whilst the movement might be great, they have done nothing to make it pleasing to the eye. It’s basically like buying a Tesla now. All the mod cons, none of the class. Sorry Elon Musk. But if the probability of us being in base reality is billions to one, the who gives a to….be continued.

Yup..don't think San Martin ever created anything on their own. They will get some cues from somewhere else..
I like it! The color scheme works surprisingly well - like the Seagull 1963 :) It shouldn’t work, but it does… That case reminds me of Lorier!
I liked the thin dimensions on the thickness and the tapering band. The slide lock feature clasp is also great.
I love this Jody, definitely on my shopping list after the holidays
The blue one is indeed the most beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Jody! That clasp looks outstanding
Great review as always Jody. When I first saw it I thought they had take a leaf outo of Farer's colour palette and was very tempted. However, not sure I can live with only a 24 click bezel.
Really nice looking watch and well finished. Refinements for me would be removing the small marks between seconds, and some outer printng as you said. Lug to lug could be a bit shorter, found that on some i have, a great fit but long L2L sometimes means you see the end links insides. Not a deal breaker though.
I love the sterile case back! I like having the back of my wates engraved, especially if they are a gift but 90% of casebacks are so busy now, engraving just looks ridiculous.
I absolutely adore this new design the colors are so vibrant it almost looks like a beach with the bezel and the teal dial and chapter ring with those sepia tones. You should get in one of those world timers for review and see if they look as good in hand.
The grey dial one is a total mess with the world time bezel and the 24 hour inner chaptering, but I like it. I’l say it out loud, I’ll own my badness. I like that thing. For the win, the sleek case and on the on-the-fly adjustment. It’s funny, I was watching Shane review a totally crazy Oceanus, Casio pushing its limits, and then in the same evening I get to watch one of my other fave watch influencers review a watch with an Ali brand pushing its limits. Fun half hour of watchdom.
The longer I look at it the more I like it.
Gotta admit that is super tempting... Personally i just wish it was like 40.5 or maybe even 41.5 but, that would also mess with the dial and date window so maybe it wouldn't look so clean...
love your vids mate all the best from the uk
I bought this one and have had it for about a week. It's a great summer watch for right now here in the US.
I've been saying this for a while now... The big brands need to be worried about San Martin. They have everything they need now to compete with them. Things like the on the fly clasp, along with (hopefully) sorting out their more original designs now too.
@KMV007

Could you be more specific, which big brands do you mean?
@karlsenula9495

Probably Seiko, Citizen - depending in which styles San Martin do - Hamilton, Bulova ... also depending on things longer term and if San Martin go very up-market then brands like Longines, Zodiac, Doxa, Yema (although they will always have the European prestige and heritage). Again depending on models some micro-brands could also have competion; Dan Henry, Zelos, Helm, Christopher Ward etc. Not saying that San Martin WILL achieve this but they have the potential

Why would Seiko or Citizen be worried about SM? Both Japanese brands sell around $1.5 billion worth of watches every year. SM sells a couple of thousand watches with an average price of $200 each. If SM want to be a proper company, they need to invest in their own selling platform, proper marketing and design teams, not just using AliX, KZread reviewers to promote them or designs ripped off from other brands. They might take sales away from some micro brands, but even some of these are so far in front, they might never catch up.
@karlsenula9495

@@Zsweeze .. agree about those too ... the watch market with the Chinese global entry and all the recent micro-brands is EXTREMELY competitive right now ... simple things like brand name, logo, WR, sapphire crystal, pressed or milled clasp, finishing, QC, customer service, a series of bad experiences leading to a reputation (or excellent experience leading to a great reputation), and yes unique iconic designs (what Seiko is living off of right now) etc. Could make the difference between which watch you choose in todays market.
I brought the watch and love it. I noticed San Martin now sell the bracelet separately for £65. I asked if I could buy the end links only so I could use the fantastic bracelet on other watches. They sent me a set for just £6 with extra spring bars and a tool. What other affordable watch company would do that! Great watch, great customer care.

Why do you need an extra endlinks? I don't quite get the intention. Did you want to use the bracelet that came with this watch on another watch? Or did you bought the $65 standalone bracelet?
It’s a good looking watch. I love how the red of the GMT hand surround the base of all of the hands.
It's really nice and feels light on the wrist. Cool look. It was a fun purchase. I think it needed more lume, especially that chapter ring. Good review as always!
Beautiful watch and like you I love the colourful one the most. It’s the first San Martin that I’ve seen that I would be happy to add to my collection. Great video as ever.
I saw this potential in San Martin as soon as I unwrapped my 6200 homage two years ago. I was even stoked when I saw their first "original" designs, the big square'ish thing they now made a GMT version of, and the Royal Oak'ish one with the white dial. I knew it was a step in the right direction. I think it is not long until we start to see San Martin on display in watch stores. But yes, I agree they need to do something on the back lid and maybe spend a few more minutes considering hand-proportions, and bury the hexagon logo in an unknown location, execute the undertakers and burn their heads, and make a new one. Hell, I've design logos I think is better than theirs, and I hate all my own designs (which is quite the paradox sometimes considering I'm an artist). I mean, I hate them, but people still wants to trade their hard earned money for my crap. I am kinda looking at buying a SARB035 or a Bulova Lunar Pilot 43,5mm, but this San Martin has me intrigued. It's hard to decide. Probably the SARB if I can find one by a realistic seller. I am kinda done with Ali watches, because I have now a bit different focus in my watch collecting. I don't look down on Ali watches, though. I still pop in from time to time to see what they have to offer and how they are developing. I see a lot of new brands appearing, and no doubt the competition is very hard, and some brands are really stepping up their game quite a bit. As I said, my focus has changed. Yet, it is just a fact that these very affordable China watches are definitely not to be underestimated. And my two San Martins, my Sugess and my Seestern are all high quality watches, and some have qualities I think even surpasses some of my Swiss pieces that are well over a grand new.
I love that seconds hand, goes all the way to the edge like a classic flieger and has a great counterbalance.
It's a wonderful, well executed design, having overtones of tradition and yet not a copy. The colors work well too, so as you said, nice watch overall.
Love the colors! Replace the '24' with an inverted triangle (one of my pet peeves if you hadn't figured it out by now!🤣) and you'd have yourself a good'un! Cheers!
Color matched date wheel is quite a nice detail.
Nice job SM 🥃.... Thanx Jody 👍
The color pallet is pleasant and the measurements will fit a wide variety of wrist sizes
I'm in the U.S. (Tennessee) and ordered this watch after watching the video you did on it sever weeks ago; almost a month has past and I'm still wait on delivery. Still hopeful it didn't get lost in transit.
I bought one and really like it as well! The long second hand irks me too though... The case design to me seems very inspired by the Lorier Neptune/Hyperion. San Martin probably manufaures for Lorier so I guess that's how they got the inspiration.
I have the black version and I agree it is a lovely watch (dimensions, quality, value, etc.). I quite fancied the colourful one but there were just too many colours going on for me. I think if the GMT text and the GMT hand were colour matched to the bezel and perhaps just the tip of the second hand was orange (as is done in red on the black version) then I would have been all in. Onwards and ever upwards for SM if they can build on this.
They have sent me this dial but on a non gmt watch which is quite interesting. Pleased another reviewer is talking about the caseback, I have moaned about these for well over 12 months now, even just down basic printing of model number etc would be good. I do agree you get a lot for your money. I’ve had 30+ San Martin now pass through my hands and they just keep on getting better. Nice video Jody
Some great specs for the price! Thanks, mate.
Beautiful. Did they buy up Vostok's OG Scuba Dude paint for the dial?
I've just ordered an SN020 from them, a bit more sombre I admit, but it's a cali dial enamel, and I can't wait for it to land. Great entry point too, less than £150. If its nice, this GMT is getting ordered next. Looks fantastic and I don't need it to be a true diver as a) it's mainly the GMT I'm interested in and b) my humble Duro is all the dive watch I'll personally ever need.
Great looking watch! The only thing for me personally though, is I don't care for the GMT hand or bezel. I would only consider it if it had a dive bezel. I also agree with Jody that the hands are pretty boring and the second hand is a bit big on the balance end. But I do like that it has a somewhat unique look and I love the specs.
Love that teal dial - it'll make a GREAT summer day at the beach/backyard BBQ watch!
Thanks Jody, second one I bought after watching your video. (First one was the formex reef V1)
That other square “original” you showed is basically a Bell & Ross BR03, with very slight differences
I like it!! And I am even getting used to that cheese fest logo. Thanks Jody for keeping everyone in the know!! Great review once again. Merci.
Love the colours. What happened with the Signum give a way ?
An original Jordy stamp of approval!! Can’t get better than that !! 😊
Awesome! I really like this one. We need more watches with that GMT NH34!
The slim case shape, elongated down turned lugs, coin edge bezel, bezel printing, domed crystal, and 6 o'clock date give the impression of a Lorier Hyperion (albeit different hands, colours and indices). Different enough though that you could have both!
My bronze SM 'fleiger' no date sterile dial, rarely comes off my wrist! I'm loving this new direction from SM. Beads of rice really do it for me too. I'm more partial to the other version with the wide sword hour-hand, with the ceramic and steel bezel, myself. I think it is a bit more of an 'homage' of the Serica without being a straight copy, mind you!
I love the clasp! The screws add to the tool aspect of a watch.
Another great review. I really like the colors on this one. It does look very Zodiac.
I'll go you one better - not only is this maybe the Best San Martin, I think this is better than many (many!) microbrands that try to re-create an early diver homage! And yes, that is a great color combination!
I really like this one. And there's a sale right now so it's very tempting. Thanks for the review, I've been hoping to see one on this watch!
I just got the non gmt version, has a nh35, ghost date position, no on the fly adjustment, but as nice as the one in this video.
Very nice! Thanks Jody!
I like the looks of that a lot. I like the hands. Love the colors.
You convinced me - have a black world timer on the way! Never bought a San Martin before as I'm not too into homage watches, but these are fantastic. Hopefully they continue down this path!
Got the black one. It's my first San Martin as I'm not a big homage fan (not judging). Very impressed by it overall. It just has a nice feel, and the double-domed sapphire crystal, sapphire bezel, and on-the-fly clasp are amazing features for the money.

Jody that is so similar to my Smiths (Timefactors) Caribbean that I'd be amazed if it wasn't from the same factory
I agree, best yet I wouldn't change a thing, might even buy one in the same colour scheme. Thoughtful touch giving us the comparison to the Rolex glidelock because we've all got at least one of those kicking around somewhere.
Like the colour scheme. Like the case and bracelet. Indifferent to yet another GMT. Would like to see a standard version.
good they deserve a shot at it. i want to see san martin vs heimdallr!
Nice review, I just love San Martin - thank fir the introduction Jody 👍
Beautiful watch, good review 👍 . They also sell the bracelet and clasp at a sensible price with straight endlinks.
I emailed SM and asked for exhibition case backs on all of their mechanical watches, and no date windows. Having a date / closed case backs should be options only.
It is a very good looking watch,I do love the Farer colours.

Great work San Martin as they've made a great valued NH34 with beautiful colours. Thanks for sharing Jody 👍
Wish it was a Miyota 9075 and wish it had bigger hands. Was looking at these a few weeks back, just couldn't pull the trigger...
Hallow. This is a superb one. Aigi from Norway has same colorway products but different designs. I think it could stretch up to up to 45 years old watch enthusiasts who wants a breath of fresh air. I will be eyeing for the next big sale for this one on my cart
If I hadn't bought 6 watches in the last 6 months, I would get this one... no brainer. Looks like a fun summer watch! I find the colors great. The only thing I did not like is the empty caseback. However and as you said, we do not look at it like 99% of time. But the fact that it is an ORIGINAL design is the TOP feature!! I wish other homage brands start doing the same (for example, that hammerhead shark on some Invicta) and that would be a new era in the watch community.
Love the colors
thanks for the review:D I disagree though regarding the caseback...for that price they have to cut corners somewhere, like you said, and I rather have that happen on the caseback than miss out on any of the things they apparently did so well on this watch^^
Exactly my thoughts about the hands. Still a lovely watch. Great review!
Morning jody, at last! I've been wanting a san martin for ages because of the quality, but as you know I just can't buy homages any more, so this is brilliant! And the watch is great, I will however hang on a few months, there are other watches not yet seen that are far more exciting!
Nice watch for sure. I just don't get the trend with huge clunky clasps. I actually want my clasps to be as slim and short as possible. Yema gets it.
It looks far better on your wrist than in the thumbnail. Nice review and thanks!
Watch theme combo of colors is ala Farer watch… it stands out for sure this colorway…
Mine is somewhere in the air on the way to me. Can't wait!
Loving the color and design. But gotta say, the case shape and chamfers are VERY reminiscent of the Lorier Hyperion SII… hmmm… original? 🤔

I waited 3 weeks for them to ship this one, but cancelled my order in the end as there was no sign of it shipping. Shame, as I really like the look of it.
Well done San Martin. As an owner of two, (Cptn Willard and a chronograph) I am very pleased to see them up their design game. I am far more likely now (as my collection matures) to purchase originals over homages. As Jody says, sort the hands out and this would have been an irresistible offering.
Does anyone know of drop in replacement bezel inserts for a watch of these dimensions?
Some of their originals look really nice, the SN026-G-B doesn't get anywhere near the love it deserves. The SN0026-G-C GMT version is also nice but maybe people are scared of the movement
Kudos for San Martin on coming up with original designs. The typography on this one leaves a lot to be desired though. At least 3 font types, basically everything is in there: basic helvetica like font on the dial, serif type font for the minute track and a geometric sans serif font on the bezel. It's a bit much. They could've least stuck with the same font that they use on the dial (gmt, automatic) on the minute track as well.
Just so you know, the two San Martin videos that you reference at the end are not showing up in their respective boxes. I guess that would be a moan and niggle.
I’m a bit bored with watch channels now. Except this one!! You’re a super star.
Credit san martin. That's a really nice original design. I feel they could do a bunch of interesting colourways with this one.

I recently watch a video from WATCHING James , he is an aussie like you, funny thing is he sort of imitate your introduction LOL Not sure if if that was me, it is the Ipose watch review
What’s the squared San Martin model watch that is first shown?
Can I get a link to where I can learn how to use one of these?
What do you think of the Nezumi Aviera?
I would like the seconds hand to be silver. I would definitely buy it then.
Beautiful and if there is a better piece for 300 i haven't found it
I like the overall design of this, there are similarities to the Breitling SuperOcean but it's different enough. What I don't like are the colours. I don't think the bezel and dial match well. They would have been better off using darker and lighter shades of the same hue of blue. I also don't like the orange second hand!
With San Martin coming up with original designs now.. are they considered a legit microbrand?
I like the grey world timer but I think Long Island Watch’s black WT is more readable - if $50 more. Better warranty from Marc of course.
