I have a deck for this commander, but its themed around the book/movies Dune. Baru is Muad'dib, mana elves for the Fremen, Wurms for the Sand Worms, and various cheat into play effects for the thumpers. I make constant references to Dune while I play and everyone has a good time whether I win or not lol.

I did the same idea but with Hazezon as Stilgar and the convoke wurms

Not sure about the price tag, but Thousand Year Elixir seems to be a very good include in this deck. Another untap effect, plus haste on the commanders ability.

to me if a card is under 5 and does so well for the deck its always worth it

I was so excited for this commander when he got spoiled and I made a decklist as quickly as possible. I’ve got a lot of cost reduction and cards that cheat the big wurms into play. It’s an extremely fun deck.

A friend has run this since we picked up Commander. It can get out of control fast, the setup is hard to disrupt, and the pressure is real.

As someone who recently built a deck around this guy, i can say it’s definitely a fun option. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Nyx lotus can help with mana boosts, Patriar's Seal as a mana rock/commander enabler, and Natural Order to get out a big Wurm to help with the commander ability.

One card I’ve been running is arachnoform. It turns our commander into a changeling, gives +2/+2 itself and grants reach. It makes the commander a great blocker that makes himself reduce the ability cost down to just one green. Tuned stalagtite(?) is a cheap equipment that isn’t quite as good, but also grants changeling, giving Baru his own buff!

Maskwood Nexus works pretty good too, it can generate wurms but makes Baru a 5/5 wurm too. I have to say, Arachnoform looks real clever for Baru, I didn't know about it until this post. Runed Stalctite is probably more consistent, as it's more resistant to removal.

YESSSSS! This is my boi! I LOVE Baru! Wurm Tribal was one of the first ever decks that I was interested in!

I have literally been thinking of how to make this deck for the last two weeks!

Obelisk of Urd is an artifact costing 6 with Convoke that gives +2/+2 to the creature tribe you choose. It would be a nice addition for almost no cost.

I played Baru at an FNM last night and became arch enemy VERY quickly. Baru is awesome!

Was my first commander build! I've had a ton of fun with him and my wurm army. I almost always get to turn into the late game threat and watch as the rest of the pod fights to take down my legion of massive Wurms!!

Just a tip that if you're playing overgrowth, you can just swith it out for Weirding Wood from Shadows over Innistrad that gives a clue and taps for any color. Same cost but a clue token added.

No Overgrowth gives you an additional 2 Green Mana whenever you tap the Land for Mana So 3 mana total While Weirding Wood Makes the Land Produce only 2 Mana of any color

Speaking of Underrated Commanders: Commissar Severina Raine is a beast, change my mind 👀 You should definitely do a deck-tech arround her!! Love your videos my man, keep-em like this

It would fit well into one of my existing infinite mana combos + Kamahl, Fist of Krosa repeatable overrun effect. I think Baru is even the other Fist of Krosa. It would require Sword of the Paruns to repeatedly untap it, but that's part of all my monogreen infinite mana combos already.

Oh neat, this right on time, I got a full art out of a bulk box this weekend.

I used this commander yesterday and man he's really fun

My friend made a relatively high budget Baru deck and it was pretty nasty…. But then he replaced him with selvala and still kept it wurm themed and it got ridiculous

Nature's Chosen, obscure old card from alliances, 1 free untap every turn for only G. May be over $1 some places but still budget/worth it, I built this deck very similar but added a lot of death touch to make the giant wurm army pretty much unstoppable......

I have a wurm deck with trostani selesnya's voice, defiler of Vigor and this commander. My friends I play with know that if they don't take me out early I'll have too much health and too many creatures to deal with

Curse of bounty SUUUUUPER good in this deck.

Gets really insane with Sandwurm Convergence. It becomes a no-fly zone defense with wurm token generation.

Might just roll this into my atla palani deck.

Defiler of vigor (not budget basically broken) is stupid good in this and teams up with devoted druid to blitz out your mana dorks super fast early

How I never seen this card / flew under my radar when I constantly view the whole card list for dominaria united that includes commander set

Cracked him in a Dominaria box recently have him and a pile of cards sitting on my table haha.

I'd love to see what you can do with Tor Wauk the younger.

Can we get some upgrades you’d do?

I built this deck as straight Wurm tribal, with focus on cheating out gigantic wurms with stuff like Monster Manual, Quicksilver Amulet, and Magus of the Order.

Leaving "Scale Up" out of the 99 feels like a major flavor fail. Personally, I blame Eddie (Eddie you're great!). It can turn Baru into a wurm, buffing himself, or be overloaded for a blowout overrun effect. Every creature turned into an 8/6 wurm with trample, and it has a giant wurmy boi for the art, all for under a dollar, yes please!

changelings would be great in this deck, especially a few lower mana ones.

Could be good in wurm tribal, issue is the cost of getting the casting cost reduction off the ground is rather high. Ramp is of course the answer but your gonna probably need 5 mana for any wurm your gonna want to run below that they have downsides . some rather significant such as that of Tempting Wurm, its a 5/5 for 1 and a green but your opponents get to dump their hands on to the board when it resolves. Just not worth it. Not saying it's a commander strategy just that it's gonna need a bit to get humming so definitely not for Cedh nor for groups who play faster decks.

Dominaria's wurms basically are really long flightless dragons.

This is false advertising he states it’s $26 dollars for entire deck. But every time I place this into TCG player to purchase this deck it is well over $125 even with damaged and heavy played cards. Is there something I’m Missing?

Are you adding the lands lol??? TCGPlayer is selling Basics for .74 each or higher. I threw in everything to Starcity games from the decklist and it was like 36$. Price is for sure a little over 25, but not too bad.

Not Worms, Wurms. They are distinct types. And actually, it IS unique. Wurms have scarcely any tribal support.
