Yes I agree. There are some awesome little snippets in there hitting those chord tones in an interesting way. I've been playing for a long time too. I've relied on slowing down YT vids of Bonamassa, Josh Smith or Matt Schofield to get those little intricacies that give it that smooth blues feel. This is the 1st vid where I've seen this actually explained so well.

Not a single call out of the fret numbers. Brilliant!

Funny, never been a lead guitarist, always rhythm, but this little kit really opened me up to adding things I hear others play but off of this structure in the same way hearing Clapton, Mayer, Knopfler play J J Cale songs opened my minor pentatonic world. Blues playing may reuse its fair share of licks, but those licks, in my humble opinion, are foundational to getting a feel for the style of Blues soloing! Always appreciate the lesson!

Ross--if I ever get to Scotland I'll buy you a beer!! This is absolutely THE BEST lesson showing how to improvise through each chord in a dominant blues. There are tons of videos about dominant arpeggios on KZread, but they all fail to provide useful examples on using them creatively. Your explanation at 5:13 minutes on using "pick-up" notes as an approach into the arpeggios is sooo key - it shows exactly how to do it. I've been frustratingly searching for this kind of thorough information for 2 years (I'm kinda slow, duh) Your video has really connected some dots for me - many thanks!

Enlightening ! I can assure you this is not so "Cliché". Its one thing to play basic lick, it's another thing to do it on purpose with the knowledge and understanding. Please more vidéo like this explaining how to taget specific note over chord progression. This is the best way to learn armony and having fun for casual guitar player like me.

Great analysis -- and the tone from those pickups is as good as it gets. To me that middle position is trademark Gibson all the way.

6:30 Is the reason that famous 4 note blues solo and house pattern work well because you CAN keep noodling around with them for all three chords? just avoiding bad notes makes a beginner feel good.

Bad ass lesson, love the sound playing lead over dominant blues. Borderline jump blues imo. How much for private lessons?

I love the guitar tone you get with the Neutral DSP Tone King plugin. I downloaded the trial version and can't seem to get a decent guitar tone no matter how hard I try. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong but can't seem to figure it out. If you get a chance to cover your set up and setting that would be great.

@@holmes44k44 I use a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII quad core. That's overkill for me though I really don't need it. A focusrite scarlett is always a good option so I'd recommend that

on pc ...preset les paul link doesn't works

Good performance. What's lacking is the drum track or at least a click track for folks to feel where the one is, especially when you switch to the IV chord.

I try not use a I-IV-V progression. I use a V-IV-I 1/2. Yup, that’s the ticket.

Nice lesson. The sound though doesn't touch me at all. Either it's the delay or room/reverb that makes it sound like you have a latency on the single notes. Also the voice over sounds kinda strange.

That's how you view it looking down at the fretboard though. Most people seem to prefer it this way versus vertical diagrams, which I have used in the past. All of my content is aimed at intermediates looking to progress to an advanced level of playing - I've never targeted beginners with my lessons and would not consider this particular lesson beginner friendly material in any way.

Maybe flip the diagrams next time. Could be confusing beginners

I've built a career off of showing guitar players how a basic understanding of theory and fretboard visualisation can transform their playing. If I lose any viewers because I talk about theory, they're not the type of viewers I care about losing.

Different horses... personally Ross hits just the right balance of theory and practicality for me. I don't have a very good ear so can't just listen and copy but the theory helps me link the pattern to a scale I'm familiar with. For me it's a brilliant lesson.

Hey, I've been subscribed to BulletproofGuitar for like 9 months but I find it very difficult to navigate the website on my phone, leaving me very unmotivated to come back and continue the lessons.. I've probably only put about 4 hours into them even though I've paid $108(9x$12)in total.. I really don't want to lose access to the material but it's very hard to justify paying monthly when I barely use it... :( wish there was another way

I'm sorry to hear that. What is it exactly about navigating it on your phone that's bothering you? For what it's worth I'm having the entire website rebuilt by a new team of developers currently and it will be live within the next few months so the experience of using the website in general will be vastly improved. You could cancel your plan for now and come back when the new site is live.
