This song is one of, if not the most emotionally powerful song of all time. Regardless of if it is a child, friend, or family member being abused. it needs to be erased from our world, and the scumbags who commit such atrocities should receive the same punishment as murderers and serial killers in my opinion.

This one always makes me cry for two reasons The first being this little girl was me at one point, I was abused in every sense of the word, my mom SOLD me because she was broke... And I feel like remaining silent in the face of this makes you just as guilty... So the teacher saw the bruises and should have said something and because she didn't the outcome is partly her doing!! Silence makes you a guilty party too, people saw me being abused and turned the other cheek... So regardless of whether it's my child or not I refuse to remain silent 👌 I've gone to jail for protecting a little girl from her mother!!

Kudos to Martina for making this song and video to highlight what is so often covered up. I watched The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez the other day and I will never forget him or the horror he endured and how he could have been saved. The unaccountability of DFCS and corruption amongst them and the police is something still not rectified. We have to make our voices heard and make those who are supposed to protect children accountable in a court of law and completely change the system from the ground up!

My mother abused me. When I turned 18 I joined the Army. After 8 years of service I had my own child and I swore nobody would ever hurt her, and I've kept that promise. I went to work for DHS and worked for the state for just over 6 years. It gave me a nervous breakdown. I went back to college and became a nurse. This song makes me bawl everytime. The ending, all of them are little angels 😇 in the video and they all look so happy. I'm not sure many people understand that. The little boy in the video was her little angel friend.

My first time seeing this video and reaction. This kills me, I was a teacher for 10 years, and I did report to our counselors a time when I feared this very thing, seeing marks on a student. Now in defense of those that have to make that call, things are going to happen, much past that sighting in the classroom. In my case it turned out not to be abuse, but my heart rings for those that have to not only make that call, but yet see it.

I used to always think this was about little Judith Barsi, a little girl who appeared in dozens of commercials and tv shows for a few years in the 80's, best known for voicing main characters in "Land Before Time" and "All Dogs Go to Heaven." Behind the scenes she suffered horribly and was let down by CPS and many others who knew about what was going on. Ultimately, her dad killed her and her mother (after threatening to do so for years, yes many people knew about the threats.) He shot himself a day or so later, before anyone found out what he did, after setting their bodies and the house on fire. She was 10. Her gravestone actually says "our Concrete Angel.: but I found out her and her mom's graves were unmarked for over a decade, and the gravestones were put up by fans much much later, after this song came out

There was a family that lived next door to us when I was a kid. This was back in the 1960s and 70s. The father was an abusive, hard drinking, illiterate, brick layer. His wife would be his main target, and his oldest son got the next ration. The three youngest girls also got their share. That all ended when he dropped dead of a heart attack when I was away at Boot Camp in 1976. At that time, just as it seems to be now, you didn't say anything about that stuff. You had to "get along with the neighbors", so you didn't want to rock the boat. And, you never knew what that guy might do if he found out you had turned him in....even though that's what he needed. I have to live with that for the rest of my life.

Cussing everyone and wanting to fight others on the bus. I had to talk with him a few times. And they had to come out and talk to me about him. Then one morning his mom met me at his stop to ask why was i writing him up at school. I told her cause i cany deal with him and the way he was acting. Mom then tells me daddy was home now, he had been in prison for the last 10 years. The following year their grandmother got custody of them and the boy went back to being that good kid he use to be.

I worked for CPS for 25 years and it is so heartbreaking. I have seen it and experienced too much in my lifetime.

You are right about the system. I reported a former neighbor twice and another neighbor reported them three times. Nothing changed. The child is still in a home that is a nightmare. A home so bad that when someone called about them abusing their dogs, the dogs were removed, and the home called almost unlivable. We no longer live near them, but I dread the day I hear the news that something has happened.

I get you, worked with kids myself. Problem is, excuses or non action, help a little girl get to heaven way too early with her imaginary friend. We all are responsible :( When will we as a community rise above? 😢 Phew, tough reaction... I thank you for sharing. God bless!
