Thanks for the honest review there DJ. Bland food is a bug bear of mine - the owners know it and dont care because of enough passing footfall. Its easy to improve but they cant be bothered as passers by keep them afloat and as you say - no one heads there for a family dinner. I try and avoid food courts as they rarely serve anything decent.

Why the thing to go 'bing', to let you know the microwave had finshed? Those peppers have never seen a wok. I worked there when it was a railway depot/wasteland. I'd take my own tap water.

There is a Chinese chain in my local shopping centre called Chopstix & the food is bland too. Your black bean sauce looked thin to me. It was a good portion at least & you were gracious saying "it filled a hole." (Mind you, that could be said about someone dropping a turd down a rabbit warren!😉)

The all you can eat vegetarian buffet "Chutneys" in Drummond street near Euston Station is good for lunch. Why not pick up your passport and take a train ride to Manchester for a change? We have lots of nice Indian and Chinese Restaurants and loads of good hotels. I like how you usually give the full address of the venues you visit. So many reviewers only say the name of the restaurant and the town. Even worse some say come and try it. Perhaps i would if i knew where it was. Not all venues have a web page with the address and why should we have to look at a web page. A reviewer should always include the full address as part of the review. Keep up the good work my friend.

I’d of laughed off a Chinese and gone to Five Guys in Westfield, you know you will get something decent to eat in there. I must try Wings Cafe sometime soon😉

I strongly disagree with you regarding prices, not so much with £10 street food but you also eat in upmarket restaurants in The City, some of us will not be prepared to pay £50 a head for lunch.

The best buffet meal I ever had was in this incredible shopping mall in Poznan in Poland. Loads of different choices and of a very high quality that was reasonable beyond belief.

If you are ever in Milton Keynes try Mii and U, it's delicious. bit of a weird setup but very good.

There's an important correlation between price and quantity, you're not going to get top quality produce at bargain basement prices. You can get good cheap food but not great cheap food. You have to bear in mind the pricepoint when you rate a meal, for a fiver you dont expect haute cuisine but an average meal that cost £8 suddenly becomes better when you get a comparable meal elsewhere for £12.

Good Afternoon. Oh dear what a dissapointment. Does not matter where the Food Establishment is. The Food must always be of a certain Quality and Good value for your money. Mrs Chews, i thought from the outside it liked like a proper Chinese Restaurant and Take Away. Even thou it was Lunch Time serving, it should not matter, what time the serving is. The rice looked way to Stodgy and the Chicken looked under cooked, not many Vegetables and black bean sauce, did look way too thin. Very over priced for what you got DJ. I know, that when i have watched your video's of you walking around Borough Street Market, the Food and the Atmosphere has been way much Better and such a variety of Different types and Quisines from all over the World. And, cooked so much Better and with Love and Customer Care at the time. Thank you DJ for sharing.

The only times I have had Chinese food in a shopping mall were in Tatabanya, Hungary and Trencin, Slovakia. Let me tell you, what you got in Westfield looked Michelin Star compared to what I got there 🤣

Problem with food court restaurants, is hit or miss. You never know until you try it!

As an old pal of mine says... Some people would twist on 21. There's no pleasing some folk. Excellent review as always. Shame about the food.

Looked more like beef than chicken, rice was nicely presented but the rest looked just thrown on the plate. There used to be a Chinese in the food hall at Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield, that served lovely food and at cheap prices.

You really need to pay a visit to the YMCA in Fitzrovia London. It's getting Rave Reviews on its Indian restaurant.

My son's partner is manager of two chain outlets that are well know. He is passionate about the quality and flavour of what goes out of the kitchen and would agree with you location in a Mall is no reason to be substandard

We have a Westfield shopping mall five minutes away from us in France and it has a Chinese restaurant. This is not for fine dining but to try and keep you in the mall for as long as possible. This kind of Chinese restaurants don't cook anything, they simply get all the food delivered from a central factory and reheat it.

It is not being negative, it is being honest. Gary Eats recently massacred a Gordon Ramsay restaurant at Gatwick. He has also criticised Ricky Stein and Tom Kerridge. Gary tells it how it is.

The price is irrelevant because it could change overnight.... and depends when you watch the video. If I'm going to a planned place I'll Google it first for price , but lunchtime on a whim ...you just pay it. ❤ as always mate

Great vlog DJ. By the way have you seen William Sitwells review of Paro in the telegraph, totally goes against your reviews and 90% of those on trip advisor. This needs addressing DJ a bad review can really hurt a restaurant.

It may be bland to a person who eats spice most of the time and some can only eat in shopping centres and cheaper places and don't like spice in everything, I hate chilli and pepper, I don't waste money eating out when I can cook very well, I like watching you and others eat though

Well, that was an enormous disappointment. Personally, I've never met a Chinese I didn't like. Food and person-wise. 😁 Even if it was just a shopping centre you'd expect a bit of taste in a Chinese meal. What a shame.

Exactly right on cost of street food in London its around £10 standard...that is the average price.You may slightly less or slightly more, but you need to be ok with that. So no real point in giving everyone the exact price...it really doesnt matter.

Well you win some you lose some. It would be brand to your taste as you like spice I have to have chilli oil at the Chinese the food is never spicy enough .you tried it and was honest . Onto the next one. X

Darren, go to the food courts in the shopping malls in Bangkok (if you are going there on your trip). Blow you away the food there, price is low , but quality is high.

The chicken sauce looked very greasy, what I would expect from a shopping mall. Not OTC for sure, maybe a 5. In the US they are using aluminum cans instead of plastic bottles.

Disappointed DJ, no chopsticks 😂, Chinese isn’t a Chinese without using chopsticks.

Mate, I am surprised you chose there, I know you were shopping but those places are a no-no..I get what you say about prices etc but I do check the cost, not cos I'm a skinflint but hate being ripped off, and yes there is an average price for street food in London, there is also a huge difference in quality. Just cos you want it doesn't mean it's good. To be honest, finding a half-decent Chinese food place at acceptable prices is a minefield in London. I mean the old-fashioned places. London is much better for Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean especially, Thai and Malaysian and you don't have to pay silly money for it.That did look rank and I thought that chicken was beef..

Evening Darren, first off food outlets in shopping mall's must be the most soulless places to eat 😢 The cost of any items, will always be based on what you can afford. Darren,i share your thoughts on paying a higher price for better quality. Sadly not everyone can😢 Eating top range food,but less is a balance some don't see.Maybe on future videos just show the right side of the menu, and add your own rating system. Show tiny little wallets. 1wallet up two 6 wallets 😂only saying 😊 Any way the food.Unless you're going to a destination eaterie or you're a lady who lunches. Stay basic, sarnies, soup or snacks. Sorry the food wasn’t great, that sauce looked runny and watery but as you say it filled a hole. As for the price , sometimes what you have paid isn’t the quality given, but can be edible and enough at that moment.

It's a shame when the water tastes better than the food!

I think the only constructive thing I could say is that it looked a decent size portion. I used to think that if you wanted proper Chinese food then go to China but after watching a YT video about the use of 'gutter oil' (won't elaborate its pretty disgusting) in China I've crossed it off the list. If you want some really good Chinese food when you get to Bangkok get yourself to Chinatown (Yaowarat Road) but avoid weekends as its packed.

A Chinese McDonalds at twice the price.

You have to be very careful of the food you buy in shopping mall ford court I, tried food from Myanmar in a food court,it had great reviews,and I thought it was awful,I got their signature dish which seemed to be some sort of very soft flat bread with a bit of lentils on top,very bland,and expensive.I usually try to get something like Jollibee,or Chick-fil-A,both of which are very good.

Knew it would be average soon as it was in Westfields. For some reason Chinese be it a buffet or a food stall type place is always really bad.in shopping centres. Don't know why, you'd expect the quality to be decent in somewhere quite upmarket like Westfields.

I usually agree with you however there are times where I ve said something looks nice but on seeing the price I have had to walk away. Would you ever consider reviewing some budget family friendly/ couple places. In today's economy 11.95 for some people is too steep and especially if you've got kids. London's a great place to visit for anyone, school holidays are quite soon if you can find some really value for money eateries for families that would be a great video. They may not be your ideal places but your showing London can be done on a shoestring after all whats a day out without a treat and I don't mean McDonald's now a day's that's not cheap.Thanks for taking time to read comments.

Price not an issue with me DJ. That meal is £13.50 where ai live in Sunderland. The quality is not there with that meal.
