Was shooting for part 2 of my Drifting Tutorial Series using the Nissan K's Silvia Type S (S14) 94 , and built this car setup for it. I thought it's a good idea to make this separate video to show the drift tune in detail, since many of you guys were asking for car recommendations and setups to use to learn drifting.
This setup is not an extreme drifting setup, but rather a nice humble street setup of a car that can be used by beginners in real life to start to learn drifting. It's how you should tune your real S14 (supposing you had one in real life) if you're a beginner that wants to learn and practice drifting without the need to heavily modify your car.

  • @SimActionClips

    Thank you! 🤟🏻 Yes there could be a little more power in the car but I think it's better this way for its purpose, which is to teach beginners to drift an underpowered machine instead of relying on the power and just doing some "power slides". As I said in the video, I built this car for the 2nd part of the drift tutorial where the exercise will be to practice all the different techniques for initiating the drift. This way the driver will focus more on the weight shifting aspect of drifting and use it to overcome the lack of power. It has just enough power to continue the drift, which is perfect in my opinion for that goal. Otherwise, and in a different context, you're absolutely right, and thanks a lot for sharing your observation 👌🏻🤟🏻

    Love this video! Could you make a video in the future how the following effect driving in gt7 traction control ABS brake balance

  • @SimActionClips

    @SimActionClips

    8 ай бұрын

    Thank you! Well yes I'm actually planning to, especially in my drifting tutorial series. Traction control simply cuts the power delivered to the wheels to avoid slipping during acceleration and gain more traction. It interferes with power delivery most severely at the highest setting while allowing more and more tire slip as you set it lower requiring better control of the gas pedal from your side. When you turn it completely off, it gives you full control over power delivery to the wheels and it must be turned fully off to be able to properly drift the car. Also in my opinion, a very experienced driver will always be able to set faster lap times with traction control turned fully off, but it requires more effort and patience from his side. ABS prevent your wheels from locking during braking. More details about that need visual representation in the video. Brake balance is a very rich and complex subject and I might make a full video solely about it.

    That's very true. Because in real life, we rely much more on the G-force acting on our bodies as the main feedback to interpret what's going on and predict how the car will behave next. The absence of it in game, requires us to rely solely on the ffb. And if the ffb is not setup right, it becomes a disaster. Check out my recommended ffb settings with a complete explanation, if you haven't seen this video yet: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oXmZl7ycmNTIfco.html

  • @SimActionClips

    Hey man, welcome to my channel. This is my first AWD tune trying to make the car behave as close as possible to a RWD: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eJWI0ZZwdLCyiLw.html I think the same concept can be applied to all AWD cars. But if we're talking actual AWD drifting behavior (like the easy machines driven by Ken Block and the like), then it's a totally different concept. Easier but different. I'm saving that as a bonus last part in my drifting tutorial series. But in general, you simply set the torque distribution to 50/50 and lock all differentials as much as possible. Firm ride + as much power and lightweight as possible. Driving technique: simply turn in and attack at full throttle most of the time with minor steering adjustments.

    So I’ve been trying to drift in gt7 for a long time now, still at square 1. All I do is spin out immediately, unlike the other drift games I’ve played before. I watched your previous tutorial and did step by step what you did. Now I’m wondering if I need an e-brake, because that might be the issue. I’m currently using a g29 steering wheel, do you recommend I get an e-brake for it?

  • @SimActionClips

    @SimActionClips

    7 ай бұрын

    The handbrake is not an issue. It's certainly a plus, but you can still drift properly without it. There are some moves that you can't perform without a handbrake and it also certainly makes it easier to correct your mistakes. But to drift, at all, I can do so many cool things without it. It's very normal to spin out all the time at first. It takes time to get used to it because of the absence of the G forces. You just need to keep practicing persistently every single day. Other drift games just make it easy but not as fun nor as realistic. They also create bad habits in your control. Gran Turismo helps you build a much better skill set in my opinion and helps one become a superior drifter in real life. If you can get or make an e-brake do it for sure, just make sure you don't become dependent on it.

    You can mess around with your grip. Too much or little can mess you up, whether it's in the front or back. I try and get the back to grip just a little bit by making the suspension softer than the front, make the sway/anti roll bars softer than the front, and give it a neutral toe. I make both front and back about equal in camber. You have to understand it differs by car and driver; nobody has a similar setup. Understanding what does what and then tweaking it is going to make it the best. I usually run a BMW M3 E90 with hard comforts and am fine.

    @@Steven-rg4bo I did not get an ebrake, but using the both the tips I used, and some more practice, I'm able to consistently slide tsukuba circuit the entire time. What helped me most was getting a properly tuned s14 zenki and trying comfort mediums. After a few days I moved on to comfort hards and that was a big improvement. I started buying more drift cars and tuning them to my liking. My most important piece of advice is to just keep practicing.
