Sorry for the delay the last few weeks - was working on a GTR2 video that sort of started as one thing then became another thing and it was... a time suck. Still going to do a GTR2 vid of some sort, certainly an AI race or two and want to finish that up. GOAT racing sim is GOAT.

@AS Yes, ACC is well and truly GTR3 and always has been. Hilariously there have been about 30 different hints someone is trying to make GTR3 but like... why bother when it's already here? lol

Empty Box was one of the first sim racing youtube channels that I watched years ago when I was just getting into sim racing. Nice that your still making videos. Immediately subscribed with my new account when I remembered this channel.

As the world's slowest Platinum driver in ACC (don't @ me), I'm pretty sure you can't beat my lack of pace. On a serious note, thanks for bringing these cars to people's attention. In my opinion, the 992 Cup, 488 Challenge and M2 Cup cars along with the Maserati are the most fun cars to drive in this game, but next to no one races them online. GT3s are taking the sim racing world by storm (as to be fair they are doing in real life to a lesser degree) and people are missing out on the fun of having to fight your own car as much as your opponents. Also, top tip; the 488 Challenge runs the same tyres as the GT4s, hence the lack of grip. As such, optimal pressures are around the 27 psi mark, rather than 27.7 for GT3s and the 992 Cup car, so your car may have been a tiny bit looser than it would have been at optimal pressures.

Just glad you're back making videos again. As an "old timer" to sim racing now, you're the only sim racing youtuber I can stand. Keep up the great work!

I always end up doing the same thing (on original AC) and it's always at the Daytona Road Course. I bump the AI to be a little bit better than me and I feel like I end up learning from it and becoming a faster "driver" from challenging myself. Either way, good video man! Good to see you making content again :)

Vids like this remind me of why I subscribed in the first place. I'm one of those people who doesn't care about being the fastest of the fast, the bestest of the best, the raciest of the racers - I just want to race for fun, and usually race against AI at the end of a long day. As much as I enjoy other guys who play these games super competitively, I just don't connect as well as I do to videos like this where it's just... A guy racing and talking and having some fun without being too serious and crazy about it. It's just chill, and I like that. Probably why I enjoy AMS2 more than a lot of big simmers seem to, because I just want to have fun and what's more fun than absolutely wrangling a McLaren MP4/4 around some random Brazilian circuit in the rain with somewhat convincing physics?

Slow in, Fast out. Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast. Etc. I find the GT4s to be a far more enjoyable experience than the 3s, I just hope they give them a well needed update due to a few missing models. Hopefully the GT2s come along too.

IKR? It's really weird how in so many racing games shadows just cease rendering at certain time of day / conditions. Even if there is no sun out the track should be darkened up by the car itself...

The BMW M2 cup car is also worth checking out. It is amazingly slow (aka, fun).

Hey yeah that Ferrari Challenge is maybe something like the Lamborghini Super Trofeo or Porsche Cup cars are. A bit exceptional and with some quirks and not BOPed for GT3. Still though, fingers crossed for AC2 about next year.

Very interesting video. I drive the 488 EVO the most over multiple games (iracing, ACC). I didn't realize how understeer-y this challenge car is. I've been driving the Porsche Cup car on rfactor2 just to drive something "harder". I'll give this one a try to.

That's a full on GT3, this is more power with less mechanical grip and less aero. It's just a way different experience.

ACC the understeer simulator

1:40 yeah, the Ferrari Challenge car is faster on the straights than GT3's considerably cus it has a lot more power(650 or so, compared to about 550 for most GT3's), it has worst brakes and less drag

One of the things that I remind myself of is that so many of the cars have stability control, traction control, ABS, whatever, and they are easy to over-set - to where they engage too early or too strongly. The car may FEEL fast - but if I'm activating all the driver aids frequently - I'm usually quite a bit slower than if I set the driver aids lower (or off) and drive somewhat under control.

i don't really like acc but I so find myself racing against the ai because they can actually challenge me. the ai in the original ac is just not very fast.

You are far too harsh on yourself Matt. You might not be sim racing alien/esports pro but you are certainly above average and if you had the time to dedicate like those aliens/pros I’m sure you could get pretty close.

In acc I struggled to find a car fitting me as I followed all this pro opinions about rookie cars that youtubers had and after several months I realised that all this tips are BS because its all about your driving style! So instead of struggling with ferrari, Mercedes and such I took the Nissan and ended up going faster in that then the meta/to use cars because it fitted my style perfect! Now I'm enjoying acc 100% again.

Unless you are trying to be pro or esports or whatever, you are way, way better off just having fun driving what you want rather than "I must do this, I must do that, it's obviously fastest so I must drive that car." Results may be worse, but you drove just the same and everyonee knows you were in a terrible car, so whats it matter? :)

@Empty Box yes the top racers really need the absolutely fastest car at the moment except if they are sponsored players but honestly then we are talking about 20-30 players of acc. If your not one of them (95% of them have there own yt channel as well) your better off using the car that fits you the best 😉 and all those top players can still beat 98% of all acc players in a bloody reiter or jaguar if they want to haha

Being platinum is just about having enough points total. Race in CP servers and hold 9500 total points in your driver stats for 200km and that’s it 😉

I don't get why AC's AI is not praised as much as AMS or GTR2 for instance. AMS 1 supposedly had great AI, but I dare you to start a metalmoro race with AI from the middle of the grid and survive the first lap. Never had such an experience in AC, maybe the performance of the AI is inconsistent sometimes and they're just slow on some tracks, but overall I had a far better experience racing the AI in AC.

From the Beginning on, i question myself, why it is so easy for everyone to get to Pro and/or Platinum, even if they are complete Noobs and Beginners in Reality. I am no Alien at all, but can be fast if i want to, which i dont anymore nowadays, because i have no fun anymore in practicing Hours and Hours to be able to drive this and that Pace. Or to practice for like 200 Laps for some Race that is like 30 Laps, where you potentially crash in the first Corner, because some Dumbass divebombing from 5 Car lenghts into the Corner and collects you. I dont do this anymore. But i am like 1-1.5 Seconds away from Aliens more or less. And some Guys are ranked Pro (Platinum), when they drive like it is Mario Kart or Need for Speed. So it is really kinda easy. I dont know anymore but your overall Rating must be above a specific Number for a specific amount of Time without dropping and i think you need to have a specific amount of driven Kilometers or such. But i rly cant remember. So the Ranking in this Game is rubbish. I am ranked Pro Platinum and wouldnt consider myself near tha comparing to League and Online Racing. I See myself as Silver or maybe just Gold but not Platinum. And Mate you say you are slow and not worth being Gold.. but i think you are more than enough worth than a shitton of other Guys out there. You drive very well and you mostly know what you do, and know what you shouldnt do so good Job! :) I would rather drive against someone like you in Public than against those wannabe Hamilton Crashers XD So cheers and Greetings ;)

I hate everything about iRacing, especially its monetization policy, but if you're into offline racing, unfortunately, iRacing has the best AI of any racing game, hands down. ACC's AI comes nowhere close

Imo, it's not bad just that you cannot find anything different nowadays even in sim with a buttload of content. Like in AMS 2 for example, there's some fantastic that I aboslutely love driving, you go into multiplayer and it's all GT3 Spa/Monza. It's boring, it's a rut. I like racing weird ass cars and drive a multitude of cars not just like one car all of the time
