The king in yellow is from a book by Robert Chambers. Old cosmic horror type stuff similar to H P Lovecraft. Also the name king in yellow appears in the first season of true detective, it’s how the serial killer refers to himself.

Lots of white noise on the pick attack. Not my favourite sound ever, but seems like a well built unit for those who are chasing this kind of OD. [Edit] I should watch further into the vid before commenting. lol. The EQ on the unit really is key. Once you boosted the low end into the amp with the 6505 it really tamed the overt scratch. Sounds good.

I bought an entirely separate pedal just to try ODs in parallel, so that being an included option is nutso good. Lichtlaerm is making moves.

Great pedal and great sounds. And the drop C in Mezzabarba part is soooo sick. Amazing job by both Kyle and Lichtlaerm!

Its a killer drive for sure. It reminds me a lot of one of the OD's that has been a staple on my board for a couple years now. Honestly, its like the Direwolf and Savage drive had a love child with a parallel effects loop. This makes my ears happy.

Even from the blurry thumbnail I knew it was Lichtlaerm. Good shit!

The tone at the end was absolutely crushing 🤯

I love the EQ setup on this. Such a neat idea. The FX loop reminds me of the Amptweaker pedals, if I recall correctly they had a similar feature.

the amptweaker loops are normal series loops: this one here allows to put another pedal in parallel with the whole circuit of this one so you can mix them :)

Lovecraft also took it from Robert W. Chambers' book of the same name, who again took the names from another book that dates back to 1886 :) But the artwork we chose is of course clearly referencing to the look of Lovecrafts Hastur :)

Just got this and it’s super noisy. I’m running it into a Friedman IR-X and then into my interface. Anyone else experiencing Lichtlaerm pedals being noisy? My Ghenna is also super noisy. Maybe it’s something in my setup🤷🏻🤷🏻

Yep! All our pedals names have references to literature and The King in Yellow is one of the coolest figures in horror and fantasy: appearing in all sorts of books since 1886 and creating a whole parallel universe with Carcosa and all! The first season of True Detective is based around the lore as well!

They need to take out VAT in the ordering process. 50 Euro shipping is overpriced too. Don't need or want courier type delivery at this price. I buy items all the time from Europe. Put the pedal/amp in your titles. Too many meme YT people do this and it's dumb. Nice od That Diezel is scary heavy though. I love the stacked mode.

You didn’t show us how much gain you can get from the pedal. You adjusted the output but never showed us the gain.

Correct. It's an overdrive, not a distortion pedal. 99% of people will not use the gain, especially when this one has so much output that it can boost nearly any amp into a High gain state

The "King in Yellow" could be a reference to the pedal having both symmetrical clipping (Tubescreamer / green / "king of overdrives") and asymmetrical clipping (Boss SD-1 / yellow / "in yellow"?)... Just a theory. 😄 This fulfils my need for a black Tubescreamer to fit my board consisting of mostly black, chrome and white pedals... 🥸

It's a reference to a figure that appears throughout the history of literature since 1886 - showing up in Lovecraft, King and evenmade it's way into modern day Hollywood (True Detective). In fact we're basing all pedal names and artworks on literature - mainly fantasy. But I love your idea as well!
