This Bobcat Thinks He's The Tiger King of the hill. please read the video description.

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

A lot of people have the opinion when they watch this video for the first time that my bobcat is being aggressive and that he wants to kill my domestic cat, but if you watch it again there are some things to look for that show very clearly that he's not exhibiting any aggressive behaviors, and is not meaning any harm whatsoever, so I'll do a little break down of the video and what is really happening. also a bobcat has never killed an animal that it was raised with from birth. So at the beginning you see a short couple second chase which sounds loud, but only lasts a couple seconds and covers about 3 feet. lol Then they stop and my domestic sits down and gives a small warning growl. Nothing too crazy, but just telling my bobcat to stop it. and notice the body language of my bobcat here. after the growl from the domestic he turns his head, then backs up. then yawns. lol and then Lets out a small high pitched "whine" sound basically saying, "come on. I still want to play. why are we stopping?" because right before I turned the camera on they were playing and wrestling. my bobcat then retreats, turns around and comes back, very relaxed, with no signs of tension, he tests to see if my cat wants to play by stepping a little closer to him, and my domestic lets out another little warning growl, still nothing too crazy, but just telling him he's done playing. and again you see my bobcat in a submissive posture, looking down, trying to look seemingly disinterested, smelling the oven, and then in complete submission just laying down. Then my domestic calmly jumps up onto the counter, not to get away like some people are saying, but just to get onto the counter because that's one of his favorite places to lay. If he were scared he would literally run away, across the house and try to hide somewhere. But he's not afraid, and has nothing to run from. and then my bobcat of course follows. Not fast, but curious. and my domestic lets out another little growl saying "stop following me" lol. then Benji lets out another little whine, then sits, then yawn number two. When a bobcat is being aggressive or is mad or wants to kill an animal they do not yawn. haha. Still nothing aggressive on my bobcat's part. and he jumps up on the counter, and gets too close and knows to stop before he gets smacked by my cat. Then yawn number 3. Then looks at me with that shit eating grin. and eyes almost closed because he is dead tired. Then you hear some sounds from my bobcat which are whiney sounds, spoiled brat sounds because he's not getting his way, and even though he is so tired, he still just wants to play. and then more sounds, that if people aren't familiar with can be misinterpreted as aggressive sounds, but definitely are not. just being a brat and not getting my way sounds Then finally, so tired, trying to keep his eyes open just slides down to lay down. .realizing that he's way too tired to play anymore and if he keeps it up he's going to get smacked by my domestic. and of course then we have yawn number 4. and trying so hard just to keep his eyes open. and people are saying he's trying to kill my domestic cat. lol. seriously? I don't know what video people are watching but it's certainly not this video. and they are now laying next to each other, completely calm and this is where they fell asleep and slept for an hour or so after I got done filming. A domestic cat would not be sleeping next to an animal that it was afraid of and would not stay there if it felt it was in any kind of danger. Hope this helps explain

    That's funny because Casey Neistat, Jesse Wellens, McJuggernuggets, and several others must have bobcats too because when they use certain cameras you can hear the same sound. Interesting isn't it? Anyway I use the Canon 70D. and that camera has been knocked out of my hands and thrown around by my bobcat. I've dropped it while skateboarding. but it still works. It doesn't matter what equipment you use, and if you watch any of those guys I mentioned they have made videos about that it's not the equipment you use. You don't have to have the best camera or set up, but it's about the content. and evidently over a million people came to this video and don't make jabs about something so unimportant about the video. Why not be positive instead of round about putting people down? That only makes you look bad. and like Casey, jesse and the other jesse and many youtubers have said, it doesn't matter what camera you are using whether it's a camera phone, a point and shoot or an expensive camera, it's all about the content, connecting to your viewers and making something interesting. I'd much rather film with a piece of shit and make a million views than waste all my money on an expensive camera and produce content that's shitty. Having a better attitude and not putting people down may help to get you more than 47 subscribers. Using broken cameras, and mid range cameras has done really well for my success on youtube on my channels over the years.

The young brothers will try to sit near him, play with him, they'll even roll on their back to show they're not a threat and he just doesn't care-he'll swipe at them and hiss.

    @@bluwng If raised from a young age together, 6-12 weeks, there's no more danger than having a big dog around. Animals form a resilient bond together, especially if really young. Of course there's always a story that's an outlier but if the animal isn't unusually aggressive there's little to worry about. Especially between 2 animals in the cat family. I have one and 2 house cats and when the house cats were 8 weeks old the bobcat actually treated them as a baby, cleaning them, licking their butt even and coming from a different part of the house when kitten started to meow loudly to see what was going on. The bobcat is a neutered male too.

    I didn't pee my pants or shit them, but I did get stalked by a bobcat on a short hike in the NW Montana hills one fine August day. My two dogs and I were just walking along a little trail when something made every. one. of. my. cells. freeze. I look down ~ both dogs frozen pointing in different directions. WTF wazzat?? It took several long moments to get moving again but we carried on. 3 times our blood, muscles, organs, brains froze. I couldn't pinpoint what the sound even was much less where it came from. I mean I'm looking up, around in front behind everywhere--WTF WAS THAT??! I was remembering the denim blue poop I had noticed next to the fire pit at the beginning of our hike and I'm slowly thinking Oh SHIT! That was somebody's jeans! Digested and shat out. Omgomgomg. It wasn't until several weeks later, reading about bobcats that I ID'd our stalker: They cough when they're watching you. I tell ya, my Jungian collective consciousness screamed OH SHIT every time that S.O.B. coughed. There was no fight. No flight. Only freeze.

    James Kenway Very true! Actually, even with my domesticated house cats, I’ve seen the yawn used 3 different ways... 1.) As you stated, the yawn can be used to show the cat is bored and is uninterested in fighting. 2.) One of my cats uses the yawn in the context stated above - as a TRICK to make the other cat THINK he’s disinterested. Then when my 2nd cat lets her guard down, he pounces on her in a sneaky but aggressive way to get the upper hand (kind of how we might interpret a “sucker punch” between humans). 3.) Then of course there’s the yawn that’s simply a yawn.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm not to familiar with keeping a pet Bobcat, but I'm very familiar with domestic cats. And your Tabby was very chill. He even loafed on the island which is one of the most non threatening/relaxed positions a cat could be in. I saw no danger here.

  • @egroegartfart

    @egroegartfart

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you foxy. Yes. I'm not sure what it is. I think maybe most people are seeing his movements and hearing the sounds he makes and are just not used to any of that and just assume he wants to kill my domestic cat. I would not have them together if there was any danger or if my domestic cat was suffering at all mentally, emotionally or physically because of Benji. They were best friends. They slept next to each other, groomed each other all day long and played together. And they played very hard. Bobcats are rough when it comes to play but my domestic kept right up with him. But he tired out a lot faster. Just like in this video. I tried to turn the camera on while they were wrestling so I could show that but almost as soon as I turned it on of course my domestic had had enough playing. And then what you are seeing here is their daily ritual and aftermath after playing. Benji never wants to stop and wants to keep chasing and getting chased and wrestling but my domestic was pooped. So eventually he had to let Benji know he was done. And Benji never had any idea that my domestics were done playing until they smacked him on the head and hissed at him. Then he would immediately roll onto his back and submit or give up. He gave up here and then they laid down and took a nap for an hour and then continued right where they left off. My domestics were all alphas to Benji because they were older and we're there first and that's how bobcats see things. So they are subservient to them. When they put their first.......or paw I'm this case down. Lol. He would listen. It was an interesting pecking order. Kind of similar to what you see with wolves. He didn't know it but if he wanted to hurt or kill them he could have in an instant. But when bobcats are raised with any other animal they love them and do not hurt them. Or want to hurt them. He killed ground hogs, possums, raccoons. Tons of birds that got too close to his enclosure outside and he would have killed their neighbors huge dogs if they would have gotten too close. But that's only because he wasn't raised with them. They are very protective of their habitat and their family. His habitat just so happened to be my house and property. And his family was my animals and I. He was amazing. And I miss him every day. The most amazing thing to me which still amazes me today was my deer. We rescued the deer and him the same week. They were both 3 weeks old. The deer was not planned. But we took her in with the intentions of finding her a home after she was better and old enough and before he matured and saw her as prey as bobcats hunt deer in the wild regularly. But they followed each other around all day. They groomed each other. I don't know if you saw that in any of my videos. We always said he was tenderizing her for when he wanted to have her for dinner. Lol. Just no. Stop grooming. She would be soaking wet from his saliva from grooming her. Lol. But he just loves her and he protected her. If my domestic animals went up to her he would run and get in between her and them so they couldn't get close to her and then outside in the enclosure people from my town came to visit them every single day. To feed her carrots and talk to Benji and just watch them interact and play. And all my animals would be in that enclosure playing, chasing each other. Jumping in the pond and swimming and wrestling. My rottweiler. My deer, Benji, my boxer, and four domestic cats all out there just having a ball. And people loved watching them interact. I had a barrier so that people could not get closer than three feet away from the enclosure just for safety because bobcats are very dangerous. But if he thought someone was getting too close to Athena my deer,. He would sprint over just like he did with the domestics and stand in between her and the people protecting her. It was amazing. And the most amazing thing.....and this is the last thing I promise. Lol. Sorry this is so long. But the most amazing thing was bobcats are food aggressive. Every single one. Just because they are a wild predator. You can see him eating a chicken or rabbits or deer in my videos. Not my deer. Lol. But when he ate he growled the entire time. And if you got to close he would scream and snarl and even lunge at you. Eventhough two minutes before that he was on my lap purring and. Being lovable. Food just makes them very aggressive. So when I fed him I would put him out in the enclosure and lock the doggy door so none of the other animals could go out there with him while he was eating. Every animal except for Athena, my deer. And it happened by accident. Somehow the one day when I fed him I didn't see that she was already in the enclosure. So I actually locked her in the enclosure with Benji while he was eating a big chicken. I just happened to walk outside maybe ten minutes later to see how he was doing with his chicken. He wasn't growling. Just eating calmly and I saw her laying literally touching him right next to him as he was eating that bloody chicken with organs and feathers and blood all over the place. She's laying here licking Benji's back. I freaked out. But I realized almost immediately what was happening. Nothing was happening. He was just eating. And she was laying right there next to him. I almost made a huge mistake there by not making sure all the animals were out of the enclosure. I got very lucky. But from that day on she was always in there with him when he ate. It was just crazy. But anyway I just wrote a book here. Lol. Sorry about that. I'd love to make some more videos telling these little stories about Benji and my other animals. Not sure people would want to hear them but I have so many. He was just constantly doing something funny or crazy or just amazing. So I have a ton of these stories like this. Anyway thank you foxy. Hope you have a nice day.

    You're right Anna. Unless a person has the experience. Hands on training and all the coursework needed. Along with all the proper permits and licenses. And a proper approved and inspected outdoor enclosure then they should not have one. And definitely yes about not having one that is scaring your domestic pets. That would be a bad situation. But I do know many wildcat owners around the U.S. and all seem to be very responsible owners. Of course there will be one here and there that allow things to go on that shouldn't or don't have the experience or training. But yes. Domestic animals should be very happy and comfortable in their own house. Just like you see mine are here in my videos. They are all very happy. Thanks.

And they think my domestic cat is stressed and living in fear. It's frustrating because those people have no idea what is going on in this video. They haven't watched my other videos where these two are cuddling or others where they are grooming each other or sleeping next to each other. Or the ones where I'm talking about the animals and that they are best friends.i think the description has helped some. But some people still are just convinced Benji is going to kill my other cat. Lol. If he was going to do that he would have don't it years ago. Thank you again and I'm really glad you enjoy my videos. I wish Benji was still here because we had so much fun making them everyday. Them and Badgers are in Ohio but rarely seen due to their nocturnal behaviors. Looks like your domestic is the dominant cat. She obviously wasn’t afraid to put Benji in his place. • @egroegartfart

    @egroegartfart

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you so much Elizabeth. Bobcats actually have 26 vocalizations they can make. I tried for years to record the sounds but it's so difficult to do because you just never know when they are going to say something. I would always just miss a sound. These were just a couple of the sounds. But they are just amazing to hear. The have happy, sad,. Mean, scared, and immitating sounds. The mean or mad sounds are so scary it will make the hair on your body stand up. It's really funny. Campers each year call 911 on average 50 times each year reporting hearing a woman screaming. Saying it sounds like a woman is being murdered. Of course the police have to always respond to the call and investigate the calls. Alot of times it's at campgrounds where it's happened many times so the cops already know it's a bobcat doing it. But it sounds exactly like a woman screaming. It's the males that make that sound when there's a female in heat. I've heard it many times and it still makes the hair on my body stand up. I heard it the first time in the middle of the night several years ago with Benji my ex and I woke up immediately hearing this blood cuddling scream. I and it kept going as I walked through the house. Sounded like it was right outside my house in the back yard. And that was because it WAS in my back yard. Lol. So I found the culprit......Benji when I went outside. When I was fully expecting to see a murder scene out there. Lol. I also see that my neighbors were outside on their back deck looking over. So I apologized and then I quickly brought him back in the house. From that point on at night I made sure to lock the doggy door so that he couldn't go outside at night and wake up the entire neighborhood.2 other neighbors said they came outside when they heard it also. Luckily nobody called the police that night. Haha. But yah I always wished I could have gotten other sounds on tape. But it was just impossible to do.thsnks again and have a. Good day. :). I forgot to answer your question. I decided to start rescuing them after I had volunteered for two years at an exotic animal sanctuary. I just loved working with the bobcats so when one came up for rescuing I decided to do it.

    Richie Rich Yawning can mean very very different things depending on the animal in question. Now if you’re talking about baboons or other monkeys, yawning and smiling are signs of aggression/showing dominance. If you’re talking about dogs, they may yawn to show stress or excitement, or to say to another dog, “chill out, i’m done playing.” When a parrot yawns, it simply means it’s tired. Now to the animal in question. When cats yawn, it could mean they’re tired, obviously, or it could mean that it’s very relaxed and comfortable. A cat would never ever yawn in a stressful situation. See how this differs from dogs? Yes, yawning means, “i’m tired,” but it can also mean many other things.

    Just a disclaimer. My domestic cat was in no danger here. Yes, benji sounds all mean and nasty, but when he gets too rough with the cats even though they are less than half his size all they have to do is swat him or bite him and he immediately submits. He is submissive to every animal here because they were here before him. Yes he does pick on them, but he wants to play, but his play gets a little out of hand after just a few minutes so they do not put up with him a lot of times. He could hurt them if he really wanted to, but he has never ever tried hurting any of them. I do keep a close eye on things though just in case. Thank you for all the kind and funny comments.

    During the enormous number of years I spent in the field of animal training and medical care and accumulating invaluable experience with a wide variety of critters, I saw many examples of unusual cross-species relationships in which one of the animals involved was disproportionately physically superior to the other. And/or in which one was wild and the other domestic. And/or in which one would have normally been classified as "prey" to the other. These relationships were friendly and even loving..... until they weren't. Every pairing of animals that would not under normal/natural biological conditions occur but which has been arranged by humans *always always always* places the lesser one at serious risk. I've personally been familiar with at least a dozen of such pairings that lasted peacefully for as long as five years (and one that lasted for over eight) - but terminated in one causing the death of the other. When these relationships do not result in death or serious injuries, *please* believe that is a rare situation - and I beg you to provide your animals with companions who are appropriate and safe for them and spare yourselves a potential tragedy! While we tend to view these uncommon relationships as being something of beauty and as being enjoyable to watch, the fact is that they are dangerous for the animals involved - and often to family members who may find it necessary to intervene in an attack. I wish I could adequately explain how traumatic these situations can be for everyone involved. Trust me, you do *not* want to see these things happen - especially to your own pets....

    Thanks Dan. There really hasn't been alot known about them up until ten or fifteen years ago because they were nearly extinct for many years since the 1700's through now. They were so heavily hunted. But since breeding programs started to reintroduce them into the wild and heavily restricted hunting was implemented their populations has really grown. They can live with humans although it's basically the same exact thing as living with a lion or tiger but just on a smaller scale but they have the exact same personalities. Instincts and reactions to things as those larger cats do. So it takes training and experience to do it. But for me I love it. They are really smart and very affectionate considering what they are. Thanks again and have a great day.

    This is so awesome! I had no idea that bobcats made noises like that. Very neat.

    Thanks ghostyb. Yes. I have tried for years to get their sounds recorded but it's almost impossible. Bobcats have 26 different vocalizations they can make. That's the most vocalizations of any cat species. Some are just very scary. Hey thank you. And have a good night. I like your name btw. :)

    if you left them alone for a week you'd come back to just one bobcat.

    They lived their whole lives together and were alone everyday for ten hours. No chance of him hurting him.

    Judge Joe Brown LOL. It's kind of hard to explain, but in the wild bobcats accept their parents and siblings as their family. It's the same in captivity. They accept the humans and any other animal that they are raised with as their family. I never worried about him hurting any of the other animals. Now, if he would have come in contact with an animal that he wasn't raised with he would have attacked it with the intent to kill it because they don't accept animals they don't know. and a lot of times other humans as well, That's why the laws state that they can have no contact with anyone other than their owners or trainers. So we were very careful about that, like when people came over to visit he would go outside into his enclosure. Also he was well fed, a little too much sometimes, lol but Bobcats only kill when they are hungry or feel threatened.

    for those who think this is dangerous, it's clear they're playing and know each other, and the bobcat decided not to get smacked by the domestic cat you all seem to pitty. maybe watch and get facts before shooting off a comment. you won't, but it's a thought.

    Bobcat: I just wanna sit by you. Jesus Christ. Cat: NO. This is how the old man cat here treats the two young brothers.
