I had an African Grey given to me . He was 30yrs old at that time. After 12 loving yrs with him his passed away suddenly. My heart still breaks. I was told by the previous owner I'd never be able to hold him let alone take him.out of his cage, well after 2 days I opened his door and he flew out onto my shoulder. Love at first sight. I miss my Marvin terribly. I can't pay for another one. TJX for posting. Brought back lots of memories

My brother has 1 and he had this chimes sounding phone ring and his African grey imitated it perfectly. You couldn't tell the difference between the phone ringing and the bird making the same sound

He’s so funny, singing snatches of “You Are My Sunshine” like a grouchy old man. What a smart and beautiful parrot!

This guy is fantastic! Yes they are intelligent parrots but not all are vocal. There are many who are quiet or choose only to whistle or only say a few words. African Grey parrots have the reputation for being great talkers, so many who rarely speak or only whistle or are quiet, tend to end up in the cycle of rehoming. As a person living with a couple of these sweethearts, you must accept & love them for who they are not because you needed a parrot who could hold a conversation with you. (I have lived with parrots for 25+ years & have spent a lot of time with sweeties that had to find a new home for reasons other than family lifestyle change or owners health.). Parrots are long, long, long time pets & it’s hard to find (even in smaller parrots) many that don’t live to 10+ years. African Greys can live up to 50+ years so, it pays to know what you’re jumping into.

The African grey will sleep for more longer than you if put into a dark place at night

I’m happy to find another amazing African Grey to add to my subscriptions. I love all animals including birds. However, African Greys remain one of my favourites. They’re scary smart! Kelo is gorgeous. Happy to make your acquaintance! 💕 Edit: Just want to add, these birds are as clever as small children. Of course he is something else, as an African Grey he has a great family heritage, one of the smartest parrot species out there, just do not change things around in their cages becauses they like it just the way it is.

One of my friend had the same bird!😂When he(later She!!)heard the toilet flush, said" I know you are on the toilet!"...The veterinary doctor couldn't say she or he....from Spain. HE WAS A GENTLEBIRD😂... IN ENGLAND the doctor SHE! IS😂... SO THEY changed "his-Her" name from Eric to Erica😂!She picked up every information, so,when the postman came and knocked on the door, She shouted.. "nobody's at home!"That was so funny because everybody was at home!!!!!😂😂😂Lots of letters, packages, left in the post office because of this lovely bird!!!!😂
